Not really an opinion on the two designers here, but just how people in the design community preach about how you should “steal” ideas from others. I think it’s a little ridiculous how up in arms people get about copying ideas. Lots of design is extremely similar these days. Like, I wish the community would make up its damn mind on the matter.
Tbh, both designs are ugly. I think Julia needs to not be so “obvious” about where she gets her inspiration from. I’d be mortified and ashamed if I were her.

Honestly? Even if I lowkey believe Julia's claims that she wasn't directly inspired by Raissa, she needs to be a professional and 1) do her goddamn research before debuting a new piece, i.e. see if her peers have done anything similar and 2) put some effort into making more unique work.

In design school they constantly told us to be Magpie's; take little things from the work you enjoy and people you admire and incorporate it in your own work, but the most important part is to make it yours. I think Julia was being willfully ignorant in her post with the "it's literally just stacked type!" "it's literally just the same font and colours!" as if any design can't be boiled down to that. I think she could've handled things with a bit more grace. The black and white poster is still up in her shop and the baltimore poster is on her website (though altered to look less similar).

Did anyone here ever follow the "glamfur" craze in the early 2000s that was all over the place on deviantart and such? I loved the characters as a teen and the drama was always out there for everyone to see and constant, it was hilarious.

I've started drawing glamfurs since discovering this thread. It's difficult to settle on a style since each popular artist in this scene added a little bit of their own personal touch, but a good rule of thumb would be to contrast dark colors with (many) bright and neon colors, use lanky and exaggerated anatomy, and go heavy on the accessories.

I used to be into it but it’s not really effective obviously. Surprisingly things seem to go my way more often when I don’t have any expectations for myself and I find that most people who preach “manifesting” are just privileged enough to get whatever they want by simply trying/working for it, if that’s manifesting I guess just work hard for what you want? The first one I met while he was already trooned out and on hormones. I supported him when he admitted it because I thought it was the right thing to do. He was really depressed hillbilly working in tech and asked me to help him buy clothes online but he kept wanting aliexpress anime catgirl clothes and saying “i love you” and it was creepy. We were only officially friends for near 2 weeks (we met through a mutual friend) and I stopped talking to him. Another was an emotionally starved NEET who trooned out to appease his online girlfriend. I stopped talking to him. He got exposed for being a racist edgelord.

The last one was a guy who randomly trooned out and renamed himself after a famous MtF. He has some kind of complex with his brother and sister who ostracize him for being weird, and his relationships with women in general are bizarre. I didn’t know what to say because he’s genuinely delusional so I decided not to say anything.
