honestly i think chiikawa is less egregious since like that other anon said it all started off as a comic (originally published on nagano's twitter iirc). the difference is that sanrio/disney/etc are all built around selling merch. sanrio in particular, since mascots typically get merch before featuring in shows or becoming fixtures at puroland. it kinda just hit a sweet spot with the pandemic where a lot of people became obsessed with it and nagano decided to make some sweet bucks off it's success. i do agree that the consoom around it is pretty wacky, though. JP fans in particular are wild.

I read the Miffy books when I was learning how to read and my mom would borrow the books in the library. 25 years later I was curious and showed Miffy to my mom to see if she remembers the character and she didn't at all. She remembers a lot of other books and cartoons from that time though.

I get physically ill when I see consoomers surrounded by things that are made of polyester, the worst offender being faux fur. This shit is why they’re finding extreme amounts of microplastics in all of our organs. They have no idea the dust they breathe in, the little fibers that shed off of polyester is microplastic. Stores like Target and Walmart used to make their stuff out of natural materials like silk, cotton, linen… now everything is 100% polyester.

Those are notebooks! They're not made explicitly for decoration. There are fake books that are literally just wooden/plastic blocks made to look like a set of artfully arranged classics that don't even open for storage. They're meant for plays or movie sets, but a lot of people use them to pad out their shelves. Well, for me personally, there are a few reasons why I feel it's a detrimental habit to have. Waste of money being the most obvious reason. I keep an eye out when thrifting and have been gifted some of my nicer pieces, but I also like to cook and bake so it’s worth it to me. People do get caught up in the aesthetic though as well as trendy kitchen gadgets, but you will almost always find a use for a le creuset Dutch oven if you actually cook.

I bought one off Temu that looks pretty decent. I think it's by the yunshishop store. It's less than $10 but if you're a burger you have to pay 2.99 for shipping now. The only trade off is I ended up with a couple macaron and have a seat not knowing what set I was gonna get. So it's a bit of a gamble because the series you get is randomized.
