I'm not trying to make excuses for Heather, but sometimes I just can't help feeling bad for her. Some of us didn't have adequate parenting, and that clearly applies to her too.
She's clueless and doesn't know how to do proper research, but that's hardly her worst sin.
And you're right, she needs more protein and less carbs, which is why it will be even more difficult for her to lose weight going vegan.
Heather, dairy and meat are not your enemies right now. Eating only vegetables will make you feel hungry all the time and you won't be able to stick to "eating healthy" yet again.
You need to eat food that is filling. Eat more white meat (chicken or turkey), fish, eggs, low fat yoghurt + vegetables. And try to limit sugar intake at least for a while, you don't need to give it up forever. Substitute sugary snacks with nuts (like raw almonds or cashews, unsalted and unroasted) and/or dried fruit without added sugar. Dried fruit contains natural sugar too, but it will be much better than eating ice cream or cupcakes. It doesn't need to be all or nothing.
Also, treating it like a major life change is part of the reason you can't keep it up. Think of it as a temporary thing. Even one month of proper diet can make a difference.

But that is his civilian image, which is great. I actually like it more than his soldier image. It tells a story. It's tragic. It's beautiful. You know? But I also crave an ambrotype of a soldier who's identified, who I could visit the grave of, who has a diary I can read, stuff like that. And I do have one tintype on my shelf that I cannot figure out anything about.

>So, anyway, I'm scrolling on eBay. I see this great image. The guy has everything I look for in an image, and I was like, damn. I decide just to read the description because I love the picture even if it was identified or not. Like, I was tempted. My heart was pounding a little bit. And then I'm scrolling, and I see he was a first lieutenant, I think, for New Hampshire in one of the regiments. I don't wanna give away who he is yet. And I was like, oh my gosh. Yes. There's something to this. And then I found his find a grave, and the image was on find a grave. And then I found out there are hundreds of letters from this guy. There's, like, over a 100 he wrote to his wife that are absolute novels. There's letters to other captains, other officers.
>But then I started getting some red flags because in the letters, he wrote the most terrible things, about the confederate soldiers. And he was extremely intense. Like, all the letters to his wife were just these novels and he was just so fucking intense. And there was one letter in which he said that, included in this letter is a piece of rebel soldier's coat that I killed. I killed the guy and I I cut this piece of his coat off for you, my love. Like, there were stuff like that. He was wishing death upon a lot of people.
>And then I found out that he became the captain of one of the US colored troops. So you would think him becoming the captain of the US colored troops that he would be about empowering these guys to fight for their freedom, to teach them how to fight, to to give them the platform they needed. Right? But no. No. He did not. I'm still finding a lot of things, but I'm reading some very troubling things, some words that he has said that are just disgusting. And it's like finally found an image that like, oh, there this guy has hundreds of letters and they're in museums and like this this is unbelievable. I'm I'm finally finding something that's, like, really exciting to oh, shit. This guy was a racist piece of shit. This guy was psycho. Like, the stuff he was writing was psycho. So I'm just I'm disappointed right now.
>You know, whenever I find these stories, there are just certain soldiers and people from history I connect with because they just have this good energy and this goodness in their heart, this strong integrity. This selflessness, you know, like like all the soldiers that I've shared on my page both Union and Confederate. They just had this like goodness in their heart And with this guy, I just can't get behind it. Like, he sent this, picture of himself and the men of the colored troops home to his wife, and he named, the other captain or or I think a first lieutenant that was next to him in the picture. He named him by name, but he called his men who were fighting alongside him a slur. So yeah, dodged a bullet there by researching that one.
>I just thought that it just kinda showed my luck, in the quest for, you know, that perfect piece for your collection. You're you're gonna have these little misadventures. You're gonna find some strange things. You're gonna make some bad decisions in buying. You're gonna, you know, you're gonna misidentify something. And, I mean, it's all part of the journey for sure. But definitely do your research. Do your research. Do your research.
