As a foreginer I absolutely do not understand slur/swear word usage in English and how it changed in the past decade.

Why don't people get cancelled for using the word cunt? (sexism, duh)
Why do some people still use the n-word in a "cool and friendly" way to replace "bro"?
Why is the word "retard" banned in casual language but "idiot" is fine?

The craziest part is how the average audience doesn't seem to care and forgives dudebro youtubers making fun of indian and asian stereotypes, lmao

I remember in college when I was asked not to say the word retard because it was ~*~*ableist*~*~ and all my friends stopped saying it so I did too… sucks because it always perfectly encapsulates the point I want to put across. Isn't "cunt" extremely offensive in England, the US and Canada but completely normal in Australia and Ireland because it's just used to mean "idiot" kind of like "con" in French, since they're close etymologically speaking? Or did I get the countries wrong?

>Why is the word "retard" banned in casual language but "idiot" is fine?

I'm guessing it's because it's was more recently used to talk about mentally ill and developmentally delayed patients than "idiot" so people slowly but surely forgot or don't even know that other words have the exact same meaning as "retard" so they use them.

I'm just guessing, I know what's offensive and acceptable but English speakers never seem to agree on what's good or bad to use and why.

The only ones who get truly cancelled are women, men always get a pass for their bad language. The most common bad words are sexist: bitch, cunt, pussy, slut, whore, ho, fuck, motherfucker, son of a bitch, and it goes on. Notice how none of these are about degrading men, yet all of these words exist in practically every language to insult somebody. There is nothing more insulting, apparently, than being a woman. So to answer your question, the reason people gatekeep words in America is because they want to feel special that they can claim a word. It's the only reason why this whole gender and pronoun debate even began. There's simply too many people who feel like they have no identity or group to belong to. So they made up the dumbest shit ever to feel like they're part of something, even if it's not true. However, you dont have to really do anything to fit in these groups because it's mostly online. Some of it stems from white guilt and that many white Americans have little heritage culture. They feel plain and boring. They like to feel like the underdog because it makes them feel more relatable even though most of them are pretty privileged. Not even gona lie, i think most people who have this mindset are simply lonely and it drove them into becoming mentally ill. They're too loud and are destroying women's rights so they can die for all i care. Though usually dudebros are mostly sane so their audiences don't give a rats ass if they are being problematic. The ones who fall into the gatekeeping cults are genuinely the only ones who care and are crazy.

Sexist swear words are not the same as slurs tbh, they have always had a different impact, and it's mostly because swear words are more commonplace and flexible. I remember being told as a kid that the difference between a slur and swearword is, if you see a word graffitied in your neighborhood and know exactly who it is directed at, then it's a slur. It's a word weaponized to make a person feel small and otherized (Not saying this to excuse sexist language, just explaining why slurs are seen as cancellable and "cunt" is not).

>>1051188
>I'm guessing it's because it's was more recently used to talk about mentally ill and developmentally delayed patients than "idiot" so people slowly but surely forgot or don't even know that other words have the exact same meaning as "retard" so they use them.
This, though I see people making attempts to ban the milder forms of the word as well. I see people getting called out for using the word "lame" online now rofl.

Aussies love to brag about how chill we are with the word but imo it's really context dependent (as a woman, at least). If a man calls a woman a cunt, that's as offensive as it is anywhere else. But if you're casually like 'what a sick cunt!' or w/e it's not gonna bother anyone.

>surely forgot or don't even know that other words have the exact same meaning as "retard" so they use them.

True. If 'retard' didn't happen to be the popular insult during the rise of SJWs, over time it would eventually become a word that exclusively means dumb and doesn't refer to disabled people. There would be a new clinical word to describe retards, just like new words replaced idiot, moron, dumb, etc etc. But people stopped that natural language development in it's tracks and now it's a slur.

not in a medium flat rate box. you can put it in a priority rate "mailing box" only. flat rate priority mail is very different. not sure who is responsible for shipping back but a medium flate rate label is expensive so you could get hit with a high charge from ebay after if somewhere along the line of transport USPS sees the label isn't a flat rate label and the fee is insufficient for the box, even if they let it go when you drop it off. people get hit after the fact with charges all the time. go to your post office and look specifically for a priority mail box that says "mailing box" only

i'd start by cutting down on carbs and eating more protein and fats. carbs will fill you up easy but it spikes your blood sugar which will make you feel like shit. if you must eat carbs, try to choose things with whole grains, sprouted grain bread etc. so you'll get more nutrients. some good nutritious food to have on hand: chia seeds or hemp hearts (easy to sprinkle on oatmeal or put in a smoothie or whatever, very nutritious), tinned sardines (i buy the ones in tomato sauce and add to pan-fried veggies for a hearty lunch), fermented foods like kimchi or pickles or kefir. eggs and nuts for omega-3s. lentils are great. i don't eat a lot of meat but when i do i usually go for salmon, oxtail, goose or duck meat.

Carbs aren’t the devil, they’re actually a great source of energy. Sugar converts into actual energy necessary for your body to function, unless you have an autoimmune disease or personal dietary reasons to remove carbs out of your life I think people demonize it way too often. It really needs to be eaten with other things (which surprisingly a lot of people don’t do apparently? kek) like vegetables and protein, diets are all about balance. Getting lots of fluids and being hydrated is super important, some tea is actually super great to drink if you can, also hit up a trusted doctor/nutritionist and talk to them about adjusting your diet because all of us are too retarded to give you objective answers, it’s your body nonny and it reacts and metabolizes food differently. Carbs are the only macronutrient you don't need. If carbs are so great for the brain why is it that keto is a medical treatment for neurological disorders such as epilepsy and migraine? If the brain thrives on carbs, why does removing them cure illness? The human brain is made from 60% saturated fat and the best fuel you can give it is BHB, not glucose. Excessive glucose consumption is associated with neurodegenerative conditions like alzheimer's.

But the same happens when people eat carbs in excess as well? And the most harmful meat products are processed/smoked meats like bacon, ham, sausage which you shouldn't be eating often anyway. A good amount of people have a problem eating an excess of carbs/sugar but not meat, really. Especially women. Rearing livestock is essential to the environment. Leaving a field to pasture is a natural way of replenishing soil so that more crops can be grown in the future. Humans eating a purely plant based diet would lead to a world wide environmental disaster that the planet would never recover from.

A pro-shipper is someone with a "don't like don't read" mindset when it comes to shipping characters together. Because of the changing trends in fandoms and zoomers harassing and doxing some of them for thinking their ships are problematic you'll see pro-shippers who try very hard to be as edgy as possible and say that drawing porn of child characters or incest or rape or whatever is ok. Cue antis losing their shit even more and harassing the normal shippers more while not being courageous enough to do the same thing for actual pieces of shit in fandoms.

Ship wars changed, before you'd see people harassing girls who like Ron/Hermione because they liked Harry/Hermione better, now you see them saying it's incest because they personally interpret Ron and Hermione's relationship as them being more like brother and sister. Weird as fuck.

Pro-shipper is someone who is pro-taboo in fictional ships. E.g. supports incest, age gap and lolisho ships. Basically believes it's alright to portray problematic ships in fiction, anti-shipper is pretty much the opposite.
An example of a pro-ship you may know is Diluc x Kaeya from Genshin Impact since they're sworn brothers.

This is gona be long, but you asked for it. I'm from mexico, but i moved to america legally before anyone jumps on my ass. Where my home used to be was safe for a long time, but cartels started pushing into the area. They threatened to kill everybody in the village if we did not give up our homes. Mostly everybody stood their ground, but then they beheaded a man and stuck his head on the entrance of the village's welcome post. Of course this sparked massive panic, but many of us had nowhere to go since what we had is all we literally had. So a good part of the small population stayed. The cartel did not kill them, but instead they had to pay them in whatever they had. Well actually, they killed like 3 guys because they were hassling then while drunk. Some of the younger women had to do sexual favors, but to be honest, they were raping them. Overall, you were supposed to welcome them and give them whatever they wanted. My mother gave me whatever money she could spare to get me tf out of there. I moved to mexico city where violence is less immediate and more bearable. My soul was telling to me to get out, its only going to get worse. Femicide is usually the first or second highest in the entire world in mexico. The men here are simply either humble or down right evil, there is no in between. So being barely 16 at the time, i got whatever jobs i could get which were mostly cleaning ones. A year later i started learning english to go to america. My sister, who lived in Argentina helped me with some finances to get there. I know America isnt the safest place in the world, but americans are absolutely kidding themselves if they think its anywhere near as bad as mexico. When i became 18, i got my green card and i moved in with somebody i met in the same position. I did the n-400 test at like 23. Got approved at 25. The pandemic hit shortly afterwards. These past 3 years have been hard and have really stopped me from getting any better jobs to barely survive with roommates. I guess to answer your question, have i enjoyed america? No, but i came here to survive even if im barely getting by. The most fun ive had here was online because i have no friends here. There is no community of mexicans where i live. It feels so astonishingly lonely. The girl i lived with in my teens got deported back to colombia and ever since i havent managed to make friends. We lost contact, i hope shes fine. I work in a factory for K*lloggs and a lot of people are quitting or going on strike. Everyone thinks i should be grateful and i am that i am alive, but damn if it isnt bleak. I live at this point to work to be underpaid and have no energy left other than to go online and play something until i doze off for the next day of work. I feel exploited because of my circumstances…but at least im not being raped in a moutain by a bunch of demonic cartel men and then murdered for funsies? Idunno. Hope that answers your question nonita!

I know an example of a 24 year old who's in a relationship with a 30 year old man and they started dating when she was like 22. She was living with her abusive mom and had really unstablee financial situation, she had no other family and no one to rely on. He had more money, better job, a car etc. Now she lives with him, she still doesn't have a driving license and he drives her to work, they're renting an apartment together and he still earns more money etc. Like imagine what would've happen if they split? The issue is, there are also guys with the exact same background who are sleazy boy's club types who just want to spend all their time getting drunk and hitting strip clubs. My little sister also told me that in one of the company where she did her apprenticeship the boss was really inappropriate and would bring a new escort with him during each company parties and joke about jacking off in his office but she also told me that the company itself was pretty weird in general so that might be an exception. I’m a burger who moved to Asia. I was in a long distance relationship for 5+ years before I decided to move (we did not meet online, and visited each other multiple times per year, for anyone wondering). We weighed the pros and cons of living in each other’s countries, but me moving ultimately made the most sense. We’re married now and I don’t see myself returning. If for nothing else, the healthcare alone is reason to stay. Overall I live a much more happy and comfortable life than I ever did in the US, although I think it has much less to do with the country itself and everything to do with finally having the safety and stability of a family that loves me unconditionally.

A good few years ago I read up on intersex people who had their penises cut off at birth and were raised as girls because docs thought it was for the best at the time (they were something like hermaphrodite at birth) It was also just easier to remove a dick than remove the other part. Depression and suicide rates were insane for 'men' in that position, the level of secrecy around their own medical records was fucked up. It was dark reading. They had some internal sense that they just weren't right. Some got married all while still unaware. They couldn't have sex on their wedding night because their vaginas weren't exactly developed. They'd no idea why. They'd no idea where their period was. It was nuts. Raised as girls, no awareness of what they were but an unsettling feeling haunted them. Parents and docs pretty much just set them up to have mental breakdowns when they finally find out.

I also read about regular men who had bad circumcisions so the doc just cut their whole penis off and said to raise the baby as a girl. Parents accepted that advice at the time. Similar results ensued.

Decades later in a much changed world trans people latch on to their suicide stories to point at it and say "look that could be me next" as if it's at all the same thing.

Let’s say you have 5mil (usd) to buy land and build a house with. You don’t have to spend all the money on the project, but not doing that has drawbacks. Assuming your house will only depreciate with time, do you spend a majority of the money on land in a good area that is likely to hold value, at the expense of space and build quality? Or do you choose an area where your land is likely to hold very little value, but build a better house and maybe have money left over? Or something else?

Depends on the area and your priorities. Personally if I had 5mil I wouldn’t buy land with it. I’d stay with my parents, invest half of my money, put the rest except like 100K in the bank until I figure out my shit, and spend money on healthcare or something. BUT if I was interested in buying a land I would try and see what are my priorities. Some people buy land for their future children to inherit; some people buy land knowing that 10, 20, 30 years down the line they’ll sell it. If there’s a possibility of that I’d choose the land in a good area. If I’m trying though just to lock down a little plot of land for me to live out my days in I’ll invest money into that and into the house, because that is 100% worth the investment considering my priority. I think I’ll go for the bad area, good house IF the area is safe, walkable, and easily accessible, then I might sacrifice the house. If it’s not walkable or safe then it’s just not worth it.

LSD doesn't last forever. You know you're on drugs and just enjoy the ride until it's over. You're still in control and are aware that most of the things you say and do sound completely retarded, but your appreciation of novelties is enhanced so retarded things feel really fun. Your sense of time is completely fucked. You don't see apparitions, just distortions like objects breathing, blooming, or dancing, faces stretching and squashing. You notice patterns more and find them more amusing. While the drug is active you might feel like your babbling is a little profound. That all wears off when the drug does. People who might be long-term affected by taking LSD are people who were fed the drug unwillingly or without their knowledge, children, and people who are schizo, retarded, depressed, or anxious. For a normal person in a normal situation, your brain will be back to normal afterwards. In the above situations, you can be traumatized, but you won't continue feeling the effects of LSD. It's a difficult substance to abuse because you build a high tolerance very quickly, and even if you try to force it by taking exponentially higher doses, the high of LSD lasts much longer than is convenient to take regularly for most adults (around 12 hours), you can only handle very simple responsibilities while on it, and you feel physically tired afterwards. It's not a stimulant, so you can't just use more of it to pick yourself up again. Most people don't feel a desire to redose soon after an acid trip, kind of like how you feel after getting back from a vacation: it was fun, but it's time to go home. This makes most LSD users save the drug for special occasions like music festivals or gatherings with close friends. Anyway, if you meet someone with a permanently scrambled brain who loves acid, they were most likely already retarded before they took it, and/or turned their brain into swiss cheese with a drug that can actually do that, such as whippets or xanax.

For anons who come from European countries. How often do you see public images containing nudity (like nipples)? If so, is it equally as common to see male nudity as female nudity? I feel like 70% of all ‘artistic’ representations of nudity still have a sexual element to it that people are in denial about because the vast majority of instances of ‘artistic nudity’ I’ve seen have always been conventionally attractive, hairless women, and maybe a sometimes muscular man that doesn’t cater to the female gaze at all

I'm not against nudity so this isn't meant as pearl clutching but I wanna sperg. Imo nudity itself, like naked body with little to no context, is fundamentally gonna be more for the male gaze (unless it's absolute nobody-gaze stuff like octogenarians). Notice the female gaze is more focused on context, sensuality/intimacy (nudity not always necessary to convey this), facial expressions and actions between parties. Basically, if a random nude woman is male gaze, that doesn't really mean the reverse, a random naked guy, is female gaze in the same way. There's no real 1 to 1 conversion system. I'm not saying female sexuality so puritan and soft uwu, just that turn-ons are different. Personally, Leyendecker illustrations have always given me a female gaze vibe

It should tell you whether or not they're taking new patients or not, and if it doesn't you'll just call their office and go through the appointment line to ask if they are. if you can't tell whether you're bloated or not it probably means it's not too much of an issue for your body

You've got a lot more options than there used to be. There's Lume body washes, and Puracy (which works great and I can vouch for), I believe that Vanicream has a more acidic wash, and there's a bunch out by different companies that make period products now. For deodorants there's Lume, KosasSport, and a few others. You can try making wipes with them throughout the day too, just to touch up. Keep in mind that traditional deodorants can make gunky ass film on your clothes that have to have a wash that's able to break it down too. Also, make sure that you got your towels out of the hot wash on time and dried ASAP.

You can also shampoo your hair first, then spray with rice water and then condition it. I personally spray my hair with the rice water before shampoo and conditioner because I like to let it sit on my head for an hour.
Just search "rice water hair wash/wash day" on youtube and you can see all of the routines.

For daily struggles you need skills and my biggest help was reading The Now Habit by Neil Fiore, it's very different to typical life management advice because it's specifically written for those with executive disfunction.
Meds are a great help and fairly affordable if you go for generics.
I say invest in yourself and go for it to try get diagnosed.
The How To ADHD YouTube channel is also good for getting a grip on what it means and if you have it.

IMO Hunter being a troon feels kind of coincidental to the storyline. They haven’t put Jules up on a soapbox or anything, and all character development is done through actual storytelling instead of ham-fisted expository dialogue. First season the character has sex with a classmate’s father which addresses 1) how gay children are prey to older gay men, and 2) how closeted gay children troon out in order to not be gay. I think you see him injecting estrogen once with bruises on his hip to show it’s routine, and then you see his bulge in women’s underwear (which was disgusting) when he’s laying with another character once so you know he hasn’t had the chop. Other than that they barely address that he’s trans and second season Hunter apparently had more say in Jules’ character portrayal which is why he’s now uglier, manlier, with an uglier manly haircut, and wears a binder for some reason?

All that said not really lmao maybe if you have nothing better to do. The production value is high and the cinematography is really nice I guess and there’s some fun artistic spins on things and I like the retarded drug dealer a lot. Zendaya can’t act to save her life though and some of the characters are straight up insufferable.

No. 1058966

>>1058948
It's camera distortion. What you see in the mirror is much more accurate than what you see through a camera lens. What you are experiencing is normal. Body dysphoria or dysmorphia is totally different than not being totally sure of what your body or face looks like. It's when your perceived ugliness (in the absence of obvious deformities or an eating disorder) severely disrupts your life. What you have in common is that usually someone with this disorder does not have a clear sense of what they look like, but that isn't disordered in and of itself. The main thing is that despite this they believe themselves to be so hideous that people hate them, are embarrassed by then, mock them, become nauseated by them, want to kill them, or something like that, and they will compulsively do things to obstruct or distract from their perceived ugliness, or become a shut-in altogether. For the behavior to be disorders these things should take up a lot of time and should be disruptive to your everyday life, be physically harmful, or prevent you from taking care of your basic responsibilities.

Tumblr is better because you can customize your blog, and the pictures you'll post won't look as pixellated as on Instagram. By the way, it's a recent feature but now it's possible to post on Instagram on a computer directly and the only time I did that I posted pics I took with an old shitty 2009 phone and the quality was just as good as the pics I posted with Android phones with much better cameras, so maybe posting on desktop/laptop could allow you to post good quality pictures.

Legally maybe (depending on what her certifications are), but whether she actually does it or not is dependent on her personality. You have to demonstrate that your are in immediate danger of killing yourself (I don't remember the exact legal words. And some therapists don't like this because it makes their patients unwilling to trust them, so they're very explicit about never committing anyone ever. If you thrapist has a website then you may want to check it out. Or you can ask her directly if you trust her.

I checked the website and read that it's possible to be referred to the psych ward if there's an immediate danger, as you've said, but I think I'll be able to explain it's not? I trust my therapist, but she's already expressed her worry about me so - as counterproductive as it is - I feel awful about making her even more worried. But yeah, it will be the best to just address everything directly.

I knew a family that wouldn't let their daughters cut or trim their hair when the girls were little. They were baptist and told me that cutting their hair meant cutting sins away (don't know if the parents just said that to keep them from using scissors). Thankfully that stopped when the girls got older (usually just got their hair trim because short hair bad). I do remember the younger daughter giving herself bangs. The mom was pissed. Never understood it. I also know some relatives that won't let the kids have the haircuts they want. I think the oldest (high school boy) still sports the little boy haircut. Yes, so you may have some genetic predisposition for where fat tends to accumulate more, which could make you naturally trend toward being an hourglass figure, but your body shape is not inherent and permanent, meaning it can change from hourglass to apple based on your weight and dietary habits. So when dressing to your shape you want to go with the shape you are currently rather than what you were when you were skinnier or fatter, assuming your body shape falls under a different category than it was before.

How the fuck do I stop myself from waking up in the middle of the night every night? Every single night without fail I wake up at like 3:30 or 4:30am. In the past I used to wake up around this time and have to pee so I would just get up and go, but then I realized that's what kept making my body wake up so I stopped getting up to pee and eventually I stopped waking up at this time. Now when I wake up at this time, very rarely do I have to pee. I just wake up, look up at my door to see if the lights are still on outside (to gauge time without looking at my phone, usually my parents are still awake at this time so the lights are still on), and then immediatey fall back asleep. I get a full 7-8 hours of sleep every night but I always wake up groggy because of waking up around this time and it messes up my alarm which is set for me to wake up between sleep cycles so I'm not groggy. It's frustrating!!! How the fuck do I get it to stop?? If I want to start an aggie.io (a website where you can draw together in real time) thread for lolcow (and let it run itself) should I post it in /ot/? /m/ is really dead. I thought it would be fun to have an active drawing room thread up, and anons can come in randomly and leave a doodle and chat, like in the movie night thread. Here are my current ideas for rules (to facilitate more fun times):
>No namefagging
>No scrotes/general site rules apply
>Nudity is fine but no coomer-ish nsfw drawings
>If the room is active and running out of space please clear your doodles to make space for more drawings before you leave
>Completed drawings untouched for 30 minutes can/will be erased for drawing space if drawing board is full, will be left alone if there's still space of course
>Post screenshots, have collaborations! Have fun doodling whatever, we may also have themes for special days, eg. valentine's, board-tan themed, etc

Also, should I bother doing it at all? kek please let me know if this is a stupid idea. Admins (whichever anon starts a new room, will post list of settings so the rooms will be consistent) have the power to lock ownership of layers to each user so even if we get raided and someone ruins the drawings on purpose, we would just have to delete that layer. I'm concerned there's the slightest chance a scrote could come in and start loading pictures of gore and cp in, but I think admin can disable that function for normal users. I'll have to check on this. This is about all the plausible problems I've come up with, is this idea any good at all? I just want to draw with other anons, no strings attached.

Yes, this is my concern as well, plus you need an account to be admin and control permissions, which would kind of render the no namefagging rule a bit useless if we're going to have random anons open up new rooms. We could do one main room and keep it going, with maybe an admin or two and a few approved users (confirmed women) with permissions just to kick scrotes etc, much like how the movie night channel is run, but I'd have to look into it.

Ideally if we're going through with this, I'd like to get it up and running by valentine's for a theme event to open with a bang. If anybody has more experience with aggie/have alternatives, or have any rules/ideas you'd like to add, please reply with your thoughts! Thank you anons, I hope this works out.

I have money in a few banks.

>Chase

My main bank account and the first one I ever opened. I have a checkings and savings here. It's super convenient because they have a lot of branches in my city and I use cash a lot. I also have one of their credit cards. Their customer service is always really nice. They have a lot of downsides though- foreign transaction fees (unless you have sapphire credit card), account minimums, fees (can be easily waved), shitty interest rate.

>Schwab

I have their high interest rate investors checking account. You must open a brokerage (investing) account in order to get this checking account, but you do not have to invest any money. They do this in hopes that if you ever do decide to invest, you'll do it with them. I invest with other platforms and keep my IRA with Schwab so I have no interest in using my brokerage account with them, but I do like the checkings. Not as many locations as Chase, but they offer ATM fee rebates, no foreign transaction fees, and no account minimums/fees. Interest rate is like 0.03% I think. Kind of useless bonus but they also sent me a checkbook and I think you can get more checks from them for free. Checks are kind of useless but on occasion I do actually need to use them so now I usually use my Schwab checks instead of going to Chase and buying a sheet of 3 checks from them (it's like $2, I forget how much a book is but it's more $$ than free). Customer service also very nice.

>Ally

I have their high yield savings account, interest rate is like 0.50% I think. I just put excess money here.

I've never used a credit union so I can't speak to how they are but Chase, Schwab, and Ally are all pretty major banks and I like them all. No one really needs 3 bank accounts and I'm not making any real money from the interest rate of the latter two, but the latter two accounts are my back up emergency funds (because I am an extremely paranoid person). Good luck picking a bank nona! You aren't really locked in forever, but please read the fine print and pay attention to account minimums/fees!!!! Chase waives their account fees if you keep a minimum amount in your accounts/are a student/have $500 or more regular direct deposit.

I'm not sure how exactly it is organized for the movie nights but I've attended a few and there are certain people who always use the same name, I assumed they're the organizers and have admin/mod roles? I think something like that would be fine, just the rest of us would have to keep anonymous, but for the sake of order&safety there would be someone appointed to have more control over the channel. With movies it clearly is working, I've never witnessed any problems or scroteism in the chat, it was always kind and cozy.

Museums, art galleries and theaters are a good idea if that's your thing; you can plan entire day long trip if you're already up for taking a train away from your city, no need for company for that, you know, make a list of notable places to see in given town, nicest restaurants to have some food and enjoy. How do you get over the embarrassment and cringe of creating your own characters or stories?

I've never been the creative type. I grew up thinking I just didn't have the natural talent for it, so now even when I think too long about an idea I viscerally cringe at how I'm getting too ahead of myself because it's worthless and someone has probably done the same thing but better. Same for when I write down ideas or a design and return the next day embarrassed by it.

I've seen the term "I'm cringe but I am free" circling around and think it's relevant to what you're asking here. You have to allow yourself to cringe at you, that's how you get better. There's a whole graph of the learning curve we go through where we get to a certain stage of knowing 'enough' about a certain thing (eg drawing) but you don't have the physical skills to meet the expectation of the theory you've learned. This stage of learning has to be overcome before you can really get better and push past the cringe. You have the ideas there, you just have to get them out and edit them to become more comfortable with them.

If you're an artist who's posted works online, is it possible to delete your online presence and (later) start anew without recognition? I'm not famous at all but I had people that knew me who I don't want to recognize me anymore. If I did this I would wait and practice enough that my art style evolves first. It's probably unlikely it would not be recognizable though if they did know me before. Idk, can it be done?

If you give it enough time, and change up your style a bit then surely it can. People forget everything online pretty fast, especially if you were not famous and/or involved in any drama that would make people pay closer attention to you. I remember I had some decent following on tumblr during it's peak, slowly started posting less and less until my complete departure came very naturally and didn't inspire people to look for anything and when few years later I've started posting on a different account so far there's no one that would say that they ever recognized my stuff. So go for it, and don't worry!

I just made some simple fudge (the kind with chocolate, butter, condensed milk, and vanilla only). I added a small splash of coffee extract and the chocolate immediately went from melty to hard looking. The condensed milk evened it back out, but it looks really greasy as I’m pressing it into the pan.

Is this going to be super fucked up when I take it out of the fridge in two hours, and should I prepare to make something else for valentines treats? Or is this normal? I’ve never made fudge in my life.

It depends on a lot of things. Obviously if you repost the same things that got you popular in the first place, people are more likely to recognize you. I'd say: wait a good amount of time before remaking you social media accounts for art, don't follow too many people you already knew before, don't reuse similar user names, and if you're into fandoms, remake your accounts once you'll be able to post fanarts of completely different characters/franchises/pairings/etc. because the people who will follow you then are less likely to already know you from your previous posts. If your art style is easy to recognize, that's too bad but it'd be a shame if you tried to change it just to avoid retards online if you like it as it is now.

How do v-tubers actually make money? Do people just give them tips because they like the character or how does that work? Saw a nonny wishing she could be a pro vtuber and I'm just curious about what that really entails. I have seen one japanese vtuber who streams games but do they all do that?

Multiple ways. The number one way they make money is through merch, superchats too but if they're part of a company the company takes a bigger portion of that compared to merch iirc. They all stream different things. Video games are the most common but karaoke and cooking streams (where you can only see their hands of course) are also pretty common. Picrel, only 20 minutes into the stream and she's already made $140. It's insane.

I get unsolicited dick pics all of the time, but recently i just got a bunch of gross videos from a particularly retarded scrote who’s username is his entire legal name and is showing his face in all of the videos. Yes he’s a fat old man in his 50s and yes his dick is tiny. I thought I would have a good laugh sending screenshots to his friends and family so I looked him up on Facebook and realized he lives in my area. i live in a small rural town so there is absolutely no way it’s a coincidence. The only other real information I found was that he worked for a local carnival company. I have been to a few of their events in the past year or so and I feel sick to my stomach thinking he was watching me to the entire time. I messaged the company and they said he was fired for being “crazy”. I know most people would tell me to brush it off but im so sick of letting moids getting away with hurting/harassing me I want to do SOMETHING to have him see consequences. Is there a measurable way I can judge my hunger as someone whose bodily hunger signals aren’t consistent or reliable? Just eating at set intervals hasn’t really worked because (I think) my meals aren’t consistently meal-size calorie loads. If my body gets too hungry I’ll suddenly crash and will get weak, shaky, grumpy, and feel like I could eat everything in sight. I don’t want to get to that point but I also need to lose like 20 lbs and it seems to have been a very fine line to walk. I’m not diabetic but maybe I could get a blood sugar meter and use that throughout the day?

Do you eat junk food/sugar? Because that sounds like crashing after a sugar spike, just a small snack can cause it. You shouldn't crash like that if you maintain a more even blood sugar level even when you get hungry.

No. 1066300

>>1066266
I think you're just going to have to eat regular meals at set times regardless of whether you're hungry or not and then over time your body may just come to expect food at certain times.

Also keep low calorie, low sugar snacks on you (granola bars, dried instant oats, pretzel sticks, bags of plain popped popcorn, nuts of any kind, etc) in case a sudden bout of hunger comes up between meals and you can eat a small snack to satiate yourself and not crash. I personally like to keep nuts in my bag at all times. At home I have a lot of fruit (not low in sugar but I have a sweet tooth so it's a good way to get my sugar fix when the alternative is candy/pastries), and at my office desk job I keep my snack drawer stuffed with literally all of the other stuff I listed above. Try to aim for ~500 cals a meal or adjust as needed and make sure what you're eating is satiating food so you don't have to resort to snacks.

You're essentially a lab rat. And the money they offer you isn't even halfway decent, definitely not worth risking your life for, and since they want healthy volunteers, it's hardly sustainable enough to call a career since you won't remain healthy for long doing this and you won't qualify anymore. People get abused in these situations easily because you have to be fucking desperate, hopeless, and suicidal to want to do this to yourself. If you're too retarded for a normal job you can still do literally anything else to make money besides this.

I have a friend who used to do that when she was a student. Once or twice a year (there's a limit to how often you can participate in a given timespan) she'd sign up for one during her vacations and do that. She liked it because she got money while spending the time on studying and lounging around. They had access to laptops, tvs, game consoles, could talk with each other etc. you kinda live with this whole group of mostly 20 somethings for a while (at least for the tests my friend participated in), and throughout the day they will monitor you, give you medication or do tests. You need to go through a health screening before you can officially participate.

That said, personally I wouldn't do it. They may say it's super safe and all that but at the end of the day it's still testing and in a testing phase things can go wrong, no matter how extensively a cream, pill or injection was previously researched and tested in live animals. And obviously the trials that are/appear pretty safe and tame, like a topical cream for aczema or something like that, are the ones that pay very little and aren't worth the amount of times you have to return for check ups.

This girl I met recently keeps inviting me over to her apartment… she's just a few years younger than me and we met an event and got along but she won't stop sending me her location and telling me to go visit her. Last night I told her I wouldn't be able to hang out after work (she's in school but not in school for the rest of the semester) and then at like 9pm told me I could come over to hang out even though she knows I live around an hour away… I was talking to my friends and told them about this and two of my friends think it's too suspicious that she's so trusting of me so quick and to constantly try to invite me over when she barely knows me. The area she lives is a really fancy, rich area and based off the location she sent me it's most likely a high end luxury apartment. Is she sus or just a dumb zoomer who's too trusting?

I don't get any red flags from her but I'm wary of her in the sense that I'm a boring, lowkey person and she is pretty much the exact opposite.

I think I might invite her out for dinner next week instead. I don't really want to completely ghost her because I'd like to have new friends, but I don't want to go over to her apartment yet. I don't know who she lives with either. She mentioned family coming to see her from out of state so I guess she must not live with family… but the area is crazy expensive and no way a 22 year old with roommates could ever afford it unless her parents are funding her or she's living with extended family. Or she might live in one of the small shady ones in the same area that I can't find online. I don't think she's working either.

>>1067734
I didn't realize it was suspicious that she was so insistent on inviting me over to her apartment until my friends pointed it out but I think even if it was me I'd probably invite new friends out for dinner or a movie or to go shopping for the first few hangouts before inviting someone over…

No. 1068075

No. 1068246

>>1068081
Besides mixing up past and present you were still basically right. "Did" is in the past tense and when you follow it with a verb as in "did (not) recognize," you don't conjugate both verbs into the past tense. On the flip side, you wouldn't follow the same process when working with any form of "to be" (you would say "was (not) recognized" not "was (not) recognize") so that might be confusing to ESL anons. Because "to be" refers to a state, combining it with another verb puts it into the passive voice, which means your subject is acted upon. "To do" refers to an action, so you're using the active voice which means your subject is doing the action.

Because the US is sucking Russia’s dick and trying to be as politically correct as possible. But seriously, sending a group of people, even if the value of a soldier’s life is basically zero because they’re trained to risk their lives for Uncle Sam.
It means spending money to send a group of at least 5 people, assuming everything would go well and that there’s a stealth element in the mission, that will have to somehow get help from Russia itself, or someone else, to murder a politician who is probably surrounded by guards 24/7.
It’s money and human lives, this is why they haven’t sent some soldiers to kill all of the corrupt politicians in latam who are fucking up everyone with their businesses with drugs.
The US isn’t a country of super heroes that will solve everyone’s problems, if the military of Russia is okay with the government they have, they will have to gag on that government’s balls for the rest of their lives and do as they’re commanded.

A retardo question but is there a way I could take revenge on my previous workplace? Leaving a negative Google review doesn't work because one of the managers watches them religiously and deletes any negative ones.

The reason why I'd do it because working there was one of the most stressful events of my life, I was shouted at, mocked, overworked and underpayed. I developed insomnia and even if I was able to fall asleep I'd wake up drenched in sweat. I'd also have nightmares about one of the managers there. They were the definitions of narcissists, verbal abuse was routine, and at lunch they'd make fun of people who no longer work there. During the pandemic they could have allowed employees to work from home but they didn't because they didn't trust them. When one time a graphic designer was allowed to work from home, she was asked in the next day and she was shouted at that 'she must have been sleeping in home office instead of working because her work has become a pile of shit'. I was fired after 3 months and because I have been routinely checking their website and their employee section, I realized that they do this with every employee in this particular position.

Is there anything I could do?

NTA but I think when anon is referring to the "sexual politics" of eating meat they're either:
a) talking about the link men make between meat eating, masculinity, and the pressure to uphold that or
b) talking about how more female animals suffer and die due to meat production, cows being forcefully impregnated, chickens cramped up in small spaces unable to walk because we've genetically modified them to be too heavy for their legs. Sure male chicks are shredded on being born, but it's female animals that have to live a life of suffering before they're killed.

I'm not going to go on a vegan rant here im not even vegan but this argument is stupid and it always has been. Just because civilisation has grown through the exploitation of animals, so it has with humans too. Humans can evolve past eating meat, we have technology that's ever growing to provide us with the same nutrients needed, sans exploitation and mass killing of animals. Just because it's worked for us in the past that doesn't mean it'll still be viable in the future. Our population scale simply can't handle everyone eating meat without horrific factory farming, which destroys not only our planet but creates antibiotic resistance which is terrible for humans too.

I just bought my first candle anons, and i feel a little bit disappointed because it doesn't smell. When i put it in a smaller room it smelled nice but when i put it in my main bedroom which was bigger the fragrance just stop…I trimmed my wick, let it sit for more than 1 hr to prevent candle tunneling. How do i make my candle smell again?

No. 1071736

>>1071732
Why did you trim the wick? The fragrance is in the wax. When you put the candle in the larger room, the same amount of fragrance released while the candle burns dispersed through a larger space. The room you put it in is probably too large for the fragrance to be picked up on. Try moving it back to the smaller room.

It's those wooden wick ones, I trimmed them because the instruction on the bottom told me to. I guess i should only burn them when I'm showering lol

Do any anons have any good resources for someone looking to enter a t-shirt business? Like, how to start-up, information about materials, different techniques (like embroidery, different screen-printing methods, applique's, adding glitter, 3d embossing, etc), different methods for putting your business out there, etc.
Simple google searches only gives me generic top 10 listicles that don't get into the detail I need, unfortunately. I'd like to start at the local level and produce from U.S. sourced materials (fabrics or shirts) and either work with someone to produce my designs or do them from home.

I went through puberty late. My maternal side of the family has a history of late puberty but my undiagnosed coeliac didn't help. I got boobs at 13/14. I had a small growth spurt around that time as well. Fast forward to 16 years old and finally getting my period. It was sporadic for around 2 years. It sucked. I also got a late growth spurt around 17.

How do single anons deal with "losing" their friends to significant others and children?
I'm happy for all of them, but for selfish reasons I'm sad that my friends life priorities are changing in ways that don't involve me in their lives as much. Like instead of a good friend they want to see, I'm an afterthought.
>Again I know this sounds selfish, but I'm having trouble coping and feeling alone.

No. 1071968

Are you trying to put yourself out there and date, anon? Besides trying your best to accept infrequent hang-outs with your friends, that's really the only other cope there probaby is. That, and getting a pet if you don't have already.

No. 1071979

I'm trying to. I don't even care about being in a relationship myself though. I'd rather my friends than a moid. Sad. It's the fact that people may feel bad for me is one of the things that hurts the most. I hate when people say unprompted "You'll find someone someday" as if finding a partner is life's main achievement.
God I can't wait until my mind stops thinking about what the meaning of life is.

So a rude bitch asked me where X is. I was looking on my phone and I’m in a hurry, I need to get my hearing aids fixed, it’s a freaking sunday, so I said maybe I could help you, I’m not familiar here so what’s the place?
She utters some place I don’t fucking know.
I said: Oh, I don’t know but don’t you have a phone? I look up mostly where I need to go there as well. She walked away which is what I thought was weird as hell.
And I said well what’s the place you need to go to again?
she said nevermind go do your thing, you’re weird. And I said “what?” “You’re awkward” i responded with “Thanks for the compliment?”. And she said a looot of ramblings, my ears are deaf as they already are but I doubt anyone would have listened. What in the living fuck.
Anyways my question is: was I being awkward?
I just am not familiar with this suburb I just moved to, and I’m deaf?

When you interact with strangers to ask something it's usually awkward, that's the kind of awkward I'm talking about. I just had a horrible stressful week and a stranger is talking to me as if I’m her enemy or something, had to even resort to weed yesterday to calm down. I have no friends sigh, but I thought that despite that my social skills are good.

The situation itself seemed awkward but I don't see how you were awkward in particular. Although, I'm not deaf at all but when I'm in noisy places I can't hear anything I'm told and it makes people who talk to me think I'm kind of retarded for asking them to repeat themselves, maybe that's why the woman was so rude with you.

No. 1072567

I moved to another side of my country a couple years back and within weeks I dreaded walking to work and seeing anyone walk or drive up to me because I never knew where these new places were and people have lost their politeness about asking for help.

I had a whole series of interactions where people were rude, short or somehow annoyed that I didn't have the ability to ne of help. At first I would say sorry out of pure habit but I trained myself out of that after too many shitty interactions. I'd arive at work with this crappy lowered mood after it happens lol

I mean I often get confused about what train platform I need to be on and I always thank anyone who responds to me, even if they're equally lost. I don't get it.
