It could have to do with cognition and the way touchscreens work. When I'm either waking up or falling asleep, I'll have a difficult time texting my friend. Sometimes entire sentences can turn into gibberish. Lucinda is so brain damaged from being a chronic skelly (coupled with whatever cognitive impairment comes from her mental illness), she could be having an experience similar to nodding out while trying to use her phone.
As for touchscreens, they're reliant on pressure, press length, and touch location. If any of these are off, you've compromised what you're trying to do. The way devices register touch is also an issue: if someone is holding a slim device and the edge of their palm is making the slightest contact with the edge of the screen, this affects any keyboard inputs. A slightly too long press changes what letter or symbol is being added in. She's also relying on muscle memory of two thumbs as opposed to her entire arm when drawing or writing (and this is if she even uses her thumbs to type, she could be touch typing with her pointer finger, at which point muscle memory isn't involved at all). If she is utilizing her phone's autocorrect, it is no doubt inserting previous crap it's learned from her, and that is exacerbating the issue.
In the end, I'm 50/50 on if it is a larp or not, and it doesn't change my opinion of her either way.
