I feel like they strayed too far from the pony base with the stylization of G4 and G5 was/is just awful to look at.
The Mane 6 in G4 were inspired by the characters from the original show but also had major influences from named characters in the G3 cartoon. Rarity was pink and had a bunch of streaks in her hair I remember kek

>>2570827G1 had the best backcard art style, and I liked that the ponies were more horse-like and the eyes were molded. G2 was just freaky-looking I can see why it was short lived. G3 had the best painted detailed and hair, I loved some of the colorways that were used back then. G4 obviously had the best TV-tie in and characters. G5 is just kind of blah, I suspect it'll be a "whatever" generation the same way G2 was.
The sweetheart sister ponies from G1 are my all-time favorite. Nice colors, equally stylized and horse-like, and I like how they have earring-holes like some Barbies. The only bummer is that they never made any unicorn or pegasus sisters.
