Let's discuss this cow. Formerly Tess Munster, she claims she is only a size 22 and weighs 250 lbs. She recently got signed to Milk modelling agency. Also, created #effyourbeautystandards, promotes HAES, and lies about her weight and fitness level. Also tries to shoop her pics to hide how fat she is getting. She really is getting fatter and fatter, and will be at Quirky's level soon (if not arguably there already).

She is def not 250lbs. She is at least 300lbs, if not more.

If you want to promote body positivity then don't lie about your own fucking weight.

Also is there caps/ sauce of her saying she is 250lbs?

No. 88670

The only way she could possibly be 250lbs is if she was 100% body fat or 3 feet tall. (I guess I could believe the former.)

When you're as fat as she is what's the point of even lying about that shit? There's a point where you're just huge and numbers are irrelevant.

No. 88686

Has some new dude I guess who's almost a carbon copy of the ex, claims the ex was omg so mean (despite him giving her free room/board/food/childcare) but welp.

She's incredibly lucky how little of her weight she carries in her face. I know girls less than half her size who have more chins than her. Still, just goes to show the hypocrisy of the FA movement. My niece has family on her mum's side who are extremely obese and who don't understand how bad it is. Legit, only her step-son isn't obese. He's like pro-ana against em.

Anyway, we were talking in the car, I brought up HAES and Tess Holiday and she said she's wrong for promoting healthy size, and that they're stupid for even considering HAES.

Former friend anon here, and well, nothing in particular other than that she's a whiny primadonna bitch on shoots. (Didn't do any directly with her, just more like a few models called to do pinup/rockabilly kinda shit and we were both at the same shoot, anyway)

Most of us were content with doing our own hair/makeup or doing each others (I suck at doing my own hair) and sharing dressing space but this bitch. Oh my god. If any of you have roomed/worked with other girls, you know how there's always one that spreads her shit EVERYWHERE and brings way too much crap? That was Ryann. So much whining and passive aggressive "well I would've done your blush differently" or "that lighting was a bit harsh."

She was also a complete cunt to any non-white models, which isn't a surprise considering she's from Mississippi. Before she started "modeling" in Seattle this twunt changed life goals every few months. First she wanted to be a lawyer. Then a doctor. Then an "actress." The "modeling" shit kinda just happened because she's that fucking thirsty for attention.

I find it real funny that she's all "love yourself" cos back in the day she'd slut shame six ways to Sunday…let there's plenty of early shoots with her udders out and she's on her twitter with her ass out fucking constantly.

She's also ridiculously jealous of actual, successful plus models (ESPECIALLY Robyn Lawley) and would bitch about how they "sold out." Um.

I was pretty thrown off by the whole Keira Knightley thing, but that would make a good start to section about Tess's whole movement about body image. I think an okay way to do it would be to say
>In August of 2014, the actress Keira Knightley, tired of seeing the media enhance her breasts in Photoshop, agreed to pose topless for a magazine under the condition that the image not be modified. On this day, Keira accepted her body as it is, and made a statement to the media on their standard of beauty. On the other hand, Tess Holiday, who claims to go against society's beauty standards and started #effyourbeautystandards movement on Instagram, spends a lot of time trying to conform to it. Tess cakes herself in makeup, heavily uses Photoshop, stuffs herself into corsets, does her hair in elaborate styles, and wears five inch heels.

She can't control her eating habits? Come on. If someone is really determined to get healthy (since it's more about losing the weight to be healthy, not just thin) then she'd stop that shit. It's hard to change your habit at first, but some people can do it if they try. And then others make excuses. But seriously, three cheeses for dinner? Fat people and their constant excuses astound me.

See thats what bothers me about this whole thing. Like unless you have some weird disease, illness (depression) or disability, you can't claim you can't lose weight. I find it way more honest and liberating for the people who say they just don't want to lose weight, are fine with how they look and don't give a shit about society's standards, whether that means risking their health.

Lots of think people risk their health too by eating junk, just because they don't gain weight doesn't mean they're fine.

Anyway, no one has to lose weight for anyone else if their weight isn't affecting them. For example think moms should lose weight.

But then again, not many fat people are actually comfortable at their size. If they were they wouldn't try so hard to prove that they are healthy or beautiful "too". The ones who don't give a shit are too busy having fun and ignoring peoples opinions.

I have this question too. About how much do you eat in a day to maintain 200+?

When I was about 17, I was taking some medication that was known to cause weight gain (which my psych failed to inform me about) and I ballooned up to 150lbs. For some reason, it caused me to have major cravings for meat, even though I'd been vegetarian for years before this. I ate a lot more but I don't think I noticed until I saw the number on the scale jump from 100 to 150, and I noticed stretch marks on my body.
I stopped taking medications and now I'm a skinny fat 110, but I'm extremely scared of gaining any more fat after that happened.

Tl;dr sorry for blogpost, but do you just not notice how much you are eating until it's too late? I just don't understand how people can get to 400 pounds and not notice something was wrong.

I was eating about 2250 calories a day. At my highest weight I was 207 lbs at 5'7 (was also the height of my depression).

Looking back on a food journal I kept :for breakfast I'd have two scrambled eggs, no butter, with pepper alongside two waffles with a teaspoon of syrup.

For lunch it'd be tuna (cooked with onions, cilantro and some low sodium seasoning) on a dry roll or a tuna salad with dressing.

For dinner i'd binge and eat about two or 3 servings of spaghetti or brown rice and fish or chicken and salad.

For snacks it'd almost always was either cookies, ice cream or trail mix.

I ate like this for about a yr - yr and a half.

I think aside from my lack of exercise, what would do me over was the snacking and dinner time.

I'm an emotional eater and I went up to 185lbs like a year ago. I am at 152 now.

You just need to be eating more than the amount of exercise or physical activity you make. It also depends on the kind of foods you eat.

In my case, I was eating around 2400 kcal. I'm 5'7'.

In the gran scheme of things, 2400 kcal doesn't seem to be a lot. In fact it's a little above average calorie consumption, but I had zero physical activity.

Right now I'm consuming around 1200 kcal daily. As /fit/ would say, to lose or to gain weight it's about calories in, calories out.

I have binge eating disorder though (which I'm currently in therapy for), so I would eat normally for most meals and then eat like 2000 calories in one sitting, so that's not typical. I maintain the 220 by eating about 2400, less and I lose it slowly. It's pretty easy to hit a lot of calories if you eat high-calorie food, which usually equates shitty processed stuff.

Being totally honest, I was 242lbs @ 5'10 at my highest weight. I had very extreme eating habits, I'd either eat very little (~600) or I'd binge and binge for hours (it wasn't unusual for me to eat 4-5,000 calories sometimes). I could not eat and be ok but if I ate I couldn't stop myself, there was no in between. Sometimes I would fast to feel empty and "cleanse" myself and other days I would gorge so much I'd throw up and keep eating anyway.
Nowadays I'm doing better, 165lbs, I slip up every now and then but hoping to get around 130-140 soon. Definitely my eating habits stemmed from anxiety for me but once I got a grip on it I learned to control my eating habits much better and now it's no where near as bad and a lot more consistent day by day.
Maybe I'm biased but I feel once you get to a certain weight it becomes a lot harder than "just putting the fork down" for most people, I don't think anyone well adjusted lets themselves become obese and there is most likely mental problems they need to address before they can lose weight whether they can admit that or not. Or at least that's the feeling I get from a lot of these HAES people.

No. 89877

>>89876
Yeah, no. Lack of activity isn't healthy for your cardiovascular system, mental health and many other things. Not fat person here, I eat a lot and include many healthy foods, but exercise like a crazy motherfucker and that's what stops me from getting fat. It's a combo of the two. In a perfect world I would eliminate all junk food, but I like treats, so… No harm occasionally. Without exercise, eating the same, I put on weight. Dunno how you can claim exercise has a minimal role.

No. 89879

>>89877
I assume anon mean it in the sense that eating and more healthy is a bit higher than cardio activity. You can start running, lifting waits, and doing squats, but if you treat yourself to a big Mac trio and snacks at midnight, it just negates uwhat you just did as workout.

No. 89881

>>89877
As someone who's lost 70 lbs with minimal exercise and mostly by eating less donuts, yeah, it's 80% about what you eat. Went from 200 to 130, it just took a while and I'm skinny fat now. Starting to exercise, just hard to find time. It is more enjoyable now that I've lost the weight, I'll say that much.

Exercise is important, for reasons beyond just weight loss, but if you're eating 3000 cals a day and you only need to eat 1800 to maintain? It'd be stupid difficult/time-sonsuming to work that off rather than just not eat it in the first place. You should exercise for overall wellness and to enhance weight loss but you can't outrun a bad diet.

Now can we get back to Tess? Prayin for >>89844 to deliver !

No. 89883

No. 89905

>>89870

No no it isn't rude at all.
But yeah, actually I used to be anorexic in my teens and I now have a lot of unresolved issues with food and exercise.

Occasionally I'm able to get my shit together and I start working out like 4-5 nights a week and maintaining a deficit, but then the old voices start creeping back into my head, telling me it'd be quicker to lose weight to just half my intake that day, then the next day eat nothing at all…. eat the cinnamon it'll speed your metabolism up, if you make sure your shower is ice cold you'll burn more calories from trying to retain heat, if you puke up that cereal you had earlier it won't be problem for you later…. I don't ever want to be like that again so I stop.

I think if I didn't carry the weight so well I wouldn't be so lax about the problem, but at the same time although my health is at risk I'm like "Oh well I look okay so I'll get my shit together when I'm more stable".

Supposedly this is something that happens to a lot of people that "recover" from ED's, we swing from one extreme to the other.

>>89876

>I don't think so, most weight loss comes from eating less and healthier, not from exercise

Surprise, surprise, people are different from one another.

I've actually measured my daily intake and it swings from being something like 2200-2400 cals in a day to some days just around 800 cals. Like I said, my problem is extreme inactivity. I am stationary for the vast majority of the day.

There's your problem. It's a good idea to measure your TDEE and eat about the calories they advise on this site: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
Eating less than 1000 calories is not a good idea either for your metabolism.

You might also take into consideration that you're not counting your calories correctly (I'm not saying you are but most people screw up here). Make sure you weight everything and that you count everything, it's easy to forget that one cookie but it does count.

And if you get pregnant at that size, you're extremely high risk and very likely to lose it before full term. And if, god forbid, you make it to full term, you have to have a c-section or the babby could be crushed by your weight in the vaginal canal. Yeah. You could crush your baby to death. Finally, the c-section is almost impossible to heal correctly at that size, the incision is so huge.

But back to the topic: where does Tess say she's pregnant? Are you talking about that insta photo of her bf and son the doctor's waiting room? I think her fellow cows are congratulating her on her bf moving to the States to be with her.

Are you talking about soft tissue dystocia? It doesn't crush the baby, it blocks the vaginal canal, so the baby (which is probably larger than normal) can't fit through. It's a blockage issue, not a crushing issue. And if there is reason to fear that the woman's gut will squish the baby, she can give birth on her hands and knees instead of on her back (or squatting, which is what you should do anyway, but lol >implying a fatty can squat for that long).

> In general, poorly controlled diabetes, maternal obesity, and excessive maternal weight gain are all associated with macrosomia and have intermittent periods of hyperglycemia in common. Hyperglycemia in the fetus results in the stimulation of insulin, insulinlike growth factors, growth hormone, and other growth factors, which, in turn, stimulate fetal growth and deposition of fat and glycogen. Advanced gestational age results in a larger birth weight at delivery by allowing the growth process to continue in utero.

Yesterday:

Breakfast-Two slices of Peanut Butter toast.
Grande Caramel Macchiato

Lunch-Two slices of Jelly Toast and a steamer bag of mixed veggies.

Dinner- One glass of Stella Artois Cidre, 1 portion of toasted cheese bread with marinara (I was at bar league volleyball)

What you could refer to as 2nd dinner(I am ashamed).
2/3 of a Junior Whopper and 6-8 chicken fries.

Breakfast-

Lunch-

Is all of this stuff to maintain 200+ lbs? Of course you're going to fall into bingeing and snacking if you eat like day 2 on most days. If you eat breakfast you'll probably be fine with just the sandwich maybe plus a lighter snack for lunch and that'll keep you going until dinner. Breakfast is important if you're mostly biking to work. Also take a look at your portion sizes, you might be underestimating how much you're actually eating.

immediately i see you could cut out those empty liquid calories. no cidre, no macchiato, and no gatorade would have shaved off 540 calories. if you're drinking say, 100-200 useless calories a day that's 700-1400 extra calories a week you could easily skip without much thought. switch to water or if you really need your caffeine fix go black or get tea.

I'm 5'7 and weigh 206 lbs. I'm not that anon but I eat breakfast: a smoothie that contains fruit, 2% milk, some oatmeal, flax seeds, vanilla extract and cinnamon. If I know it'll be a while before I can eat lunch, I'll also have 2 eggo waffles, no syrup. Total is 500 calories

For lunch, it's either a grilled chicken salad with dressing or a ham and cheese sandwich with lots of veggies inside, each equates to about 400 or 500 calories.

Usually for a snack I'll have some trailmix, the kind without chocolate but those sweet candied banana things in them or yogurt drops, about 2 servings, 280 calories

For dinner I'll have whatever, and if it's spaghetti, it'll be around 600 calories, a burrito with just tuna or chicken and veggies, also 600 calories or rice, chicken or fish and veggies, also 600 calories

I usually end the day with a yoplait yogurt, 170 calories

No matter whether I eat breakfast, lunch or not, I still crave these things in this order, so I don't think eating breakfast as a way to curve binges applies to everyone.

There are days where I don't feel like eating much at all, and don't and won't binge for weeks until I get my period and it's like everything falls apart.

I was replying to that specific anon, no shit. If you normally don't eat breakfast, then eat breakfast you'd feel the difference straight away. It seems like you normally eat breakfast though, so of course it doesn't make a difference for you.

Anyway, I'd say your diet is better than most but that's contingent on if you exercise, though I do think you could make some substitutions to lower the calorie count if you're not. Like switching to plain greek yogurt instead of yoplait.

just to break it down…

if you use a cup of strawberries, one small/medium banana one cup of 2% milk, 1/4 a cup of oatmeal, 1 tbsp of flax, that is just over 410 calories.

eggos are 95 calories each. you're over 600 calories just for breakfast, ASSUMING you are following those portion guidelines above which you probably aren't. also they are simple carbs so they will not fill you up.

you should use almond milk and up the oatmeal to 1/2 cup or swap out the milk for greek yogurt. you will probably probably feel fuller that way.

focus on eating complex carbs rather than simple carbs.

I use almost 1 cup of whole frozen strawberries: 50 calories
2% milk: 135 calories
1/4 of oatmeal: 75 calories
1 tbsp of flax seeds: 40 calories
Total: 300 calories

Each waffle is 95 calories as you stated: 190 calories

total: 390 calories, so I was actually off when I added

I have used almond milk and yogurt but the consistency is something I do not like, I use almond milk or water when I eat oatmeal though.

I do not exercise during the week, only on the weekends, but not enough to cause any weight loss. I;m definitely going to work on that. Though I just wanted to mention I didn't post what I ate to make pretend that I eat well or that I try hard to lose weight, because I'm not, it was just for those wondering what someone who is as heavy as I am eats to maintain their weight.

When I do change my eating habits and work out, I usually drop about 40 lbs in 3-4 months. Then in about a year and a half gain it back if I stop. I notice my calorie count always goes up when I am experiencing periods of great stress, so I want to learn how to not turn to food for comfort. It's a lack of self control on my part.

Anyway thank you guys for offering your advice, I appreciate it.

If you have to stick with the smoothie, add more berries, half a banana, or even some vegetables to it. Up the oatmeal little by little or add a serving of nuts/nut butter.

Your problem is that you aren't using those 400-600 calories wisely. That's a TON of calories for one meal so you can really make some exchanges and probably lose weight even keeping the same calorie counts. It's no wonder you would sabotage yourself after the smoothie and eat more. 500-600 calories would be fine at your size (meaning you should scale it down as you lose weight unless you plan on becoming an athlete) for breakfast.

An easy switch would be the last 190 calories you are eating in the eggos (even if it's sometimes). They are completely empty and not going to keep you full. I think even switching to a slice of whole grain toast with peanut butter (but still within the 190 calorie mark) would be an improvement and you would stay fuller longer. But you can do yourself a favor and go ahead and include the 200 extra calories (of nutritious foods) into the smoothie or your breakfast EVERY day and you probably will shave off at least that much from the rest of your day in snacking.

No. 114289

>>114146
Thank you so much. I sometimes alternate with the wheat toast and peanut butter, I eat the waffles on days that I know I won't be eating again till the afternoon and I need something quick, or a half cup of oatmeal with almond milk and a teaspoon of peanut butter alongside the smoothie.

What I posted is what I typically eat though, except for the smoothie, which I sometimes vary, for example if I don't have this one I'll have the strawberry/banana combo; kale, blueberry/strawberry; peach/mango, etc with the flax seeds and oatmeal as well.

The strange thing is that I don't get hungry after having just the smoothie for breakfast, in the sense that my stomach growls or I begin to feel faint from not eating. I feel sustained with just that until dinner if I skip lunch, and the rice with fish and salad on the side is more than enough (not in terms of nutritional value, but to keep me feeling full). I won't even binge unless, as I stated before, I am on my period or am experiencing stress and I turn to food for some reason.

I eat out of habit rather than craving or feeling hunger, if that makes sense. Sometimes I'll use eating as a distraction or something to do.

This changed occur immediately after I "recovered" from my eating disorder (I don't think I have healthy eating habits because of the way I think about food).

I can relate. I've struggled with binge eating, to the point where I could eat 5000 - 10000 calories in under two hours. I was 100 lbs at 5'5", eating to the point of extreme pain. During this period, I basically "forgot" how to eat like a normal person. I didn't really have anyone to go to with my problems, and had to train myself out of this.

Your appetite starts to expect and demand what you're willing to supply it; one key distinction you have to make is between actual hunger and appetite. Once you do this, stop eating when you aren't actually hungry. Don't keep temptations in the house until you feel you can be "responsible" enough to resist them when in binge mode. Replace what you DO eat with healthier alternatives (regardless of calories – eating healthier food generally keeps you feeling fuller for longer, leading to less overall consumption.) The extra nutritional substance really does make a difference.

Most importantly, be totally honest with yourself. Don't beat yourself up when you relapse, but remember to do better next time and feel proud of yourself when you do. It's not easy, I still fall into these patterns when I feel depressed or bored, too. I try and think of them as learning experiences. I'm a million times better when it comes to how I feel re: my feelings towards food, now. If you're recovering from a restrictive eating disorder, I'd definitely suggest NOT counting calories though. I hope this isn't unsolicited advice here - just trying to help with a different perspective

She looks like she's wearing a fat suit in that picture.

Correct me if I have this wrong, but isn't fashion modeling sort of not about what's actually attractive to society at large? The designers are gay and choose androgynous models because that's what they like.

I'm sure men would overwhelmingly choose Pearson's photo if you asked them to choose between Willems, Pearson and Holliday. So why do these Body Positivity assholes even care about rail-thin models?

Models are basically coat hangers. The clothes look like they're on a coat hanger on a rail. I don't like that because you never get an idea what the clothes are going to look like on an average body frame. Nah, catwalk/fashion models are there really to just show clothes off.

Why does #effyourbeautystandards only seem to apply to fat women? Fat guys work out, short women deal with the fact that they'll never be models, plainer girls do too.

maybe because some of those things are really things you cannot change so you just accept the fact of the matter and get over it, so everyone else accepts it as well.

there's no way for short people to get physically taller unless they get that surgery where doctors break their shins/ankles and insert wedges, and even then they'll just get weird gangly leg proportions after months and months of excruciating pain. tall people can't get shorter, and not many people have the time or resources to get plastic surgery on their plain face to become model beautiful. I don't think it's a stretch to say everyone at some level realizes this, so there's less of a stigma against the short/tall/plain, etc. I would say the majority of fat people could lose weight and look normal if they actually tried, and since it's a more or less achievable goal, people don't accept people who don't even try. I guess it's mostly women pushing this, since the majority of men don't seem to do a lot of ~activism~ against societal pressures, some do, but others would rather bite the bullet and hit the gym.

Is she implying only white women covet validation? Is she implying black women never say they're desired by white men also as a means of validation and a status symbol? Are black female socialites also never self-serving?

The stigma is that black guys love obese white chicks. So why not blame the black guys who would rather covet fat, white girls for the status and recognition than going after average black girls? Why is this always whitey's fault?

This is so whiney.

Yeah her point should have been more about whether Tess made that comment due to the prevalent stereotype that black guys like fat white chicks or not. If Tess made that comment to exacerbate the stereotype, then Tess does deserve some slack.

Idk if it's because certain communities, like black communities are more open with their catcalling (if thats true), but it's stupid to say "black guys like me". Why is that something that needs to be pointed out?

Also, it's not black or white people's fault, both groups contribute to this stereotype, particularly those who are either ridiculing it or who want to engage in those practices because they're a black guy interested in a fat white chick or a fat white chick who likes black guys.

So, it's clear we have about 500000k documentaries why America or Western countries in general are so fucking fat and trending to get fatter. At the root, most will steer you toward capitalism. Corporations use preservatives and other low-nutritional, addictive additives in their foods. This leads to fatigue and increase in body fat because of the sheer calories offered in foods we prefer. Capitalism uses cheaper methods at food production and being fat is a bi-product. Marketing of capitalism also leads to a desire to over-eat.
Now I'm no Socialist but these girls' delusions are as heavy as their body mass. Never stop, tumblr. You be you.

well there's your problem.

All kidding aside, you only need like 4 things, no matter where you TA: rice, beans, (frozen) spinach, and a rice cooker. Rice for your grains, beans for your protein, and spinach because it's the most amazing vegetable in the goddamn world oh god yes lemme get dat spinach. Seriously it's got like a jillion vitamins, you don't need no faggy tomatoes, just stick with spinach and you'll be stronger than popeye in no-time. Also it's a great source of fiber so your colon will stay clean.

I went to the dollar tree just yesterday and picked up a bunch of the following:

rice, 16 ounces, $1.
beans, 12 ounces, $1.
offbrand frozen spinach, $1

I was lucky and a neighbor friend had an old tiny rice cooker they were going to give to the goodwill, and she gave it to me instead.

I usually wait until chicken is on sale, and buy it when I find it cheap and split it up and stick a whole bunch in the freezer.

I think what a lot of people forget is that food stamps are supposed to be supplemental, not the entire food budget. I was on foodstamps for a while years back and I basically used it to buy fresh fruit, vegetables and meat, that's it (very rarely for rice/lentils because I bought in bulk and didn't buy often). The money ran out fast enough, so by the end of the month I was using what was in my freezer, plain rice/lentils or my own money. I always had a few spare ramen noodles too for the really hard times.

Ideally people should be using food stamps for fresh produce and meat, the more expensive stuff to buy. It's not supposed to be the whole budget.

How much one gets depends on family situations, what state it is, health, etc.

It was from this Channel4 documentary called "Plus Size Wars." some fat model started losing weight and her fans labeled her a traitor. Tess speaks like an idiot in every scene she's in, the same "fuck you im fat" speech as always. They didn't talk about health, AT ALL even though HAES supporters always ramble about how they spend 20 hours at the gym daily. Not a single person in that documentary was regularly going to the gym. Just whining how they deserve to look good and how average sized people clothes are oppressing them.

I work at a grocery store with a lot of food stamp users, they can get a lot. I've checked the balance for some and for a family with 2 or 3 kids with them they would have a couple hundred still on their card after a big order.
Also don't forget people with babies can also have WIC. It's much more strict because you can only get healthy food (whole wheat grains, fresh fruit and vegetables, they even have certain baby foods cut because of too much sugar) and people will have WIC and food stamps.
Even with all of that help, they'll still buy a whole bunch of ramen, microwave pizzas, etc. because quantity vs quality I guess.

Also that stuff is easier to make, especially for kids (I was 5 the first time I made ramen myself. We weren't poor at the time, but it was in the house for lunch during the summer since my mom worked) and for anyone who may not have gotten basic lessons in kitchen skills. Just because you have access to loads of food stuffs, doesn't mean you know what to do with a lot of it.

>Just because you have access to loads of food stuffs, doesn't mean you know what to do with a lot of it.

This I blame on a mixture of shitty parenting and dropping home-ec from our schools. It's way cheaper to cook your own food, but most people can barely use a microwave or conventional oven to heat up frozen dinners. Hell, my own fucking cousin didn't even know how to turn a vacuum on when she spilled a bunch of powder makeup on the carpet.

Cooking simple healthy meals doesn't even take that long. It's fun to do together with your kids too if they're old enough. Just make younger ones stir a bowl measure out stuff in measuring cups if they wanna help.

Furthermore, when you get kids to help with cooking, it makes them more likely to want to eat the healthy thing they made, because they were the ones making it. It also gives them self-confidence to see that they can do "grown up" things like cooking and gives them a sense of self-responsibility.

I for one learned how to make full meals like roast a chicken and steam vegetables by the time I was 10, it's fun learning to cook. It's really sad that most kids (and adults) see it as a burden or something only people beneath them do nowadays.

Its a bit of everything. I grew up in an affluent area so I still had cocking class in middle school, so my mother was surprised (years later) that I had basic knife skills because she never taught me. Granted I did remind her that whenever I showed any interest in cooking, I'd generally get kicked out while she was cooking so naturally I don't know how to cook anything that isn't 'American'. She still does it now, on both points.

The price per unit is cheaper, but the problem is to get the best value you need to buy in bulk, which means your initial capital needed is large. That's where the problem usually is for poor people, the money you get comes in dribs and drabs and you never have enough to buy all the ingredients for one meal at a time. And most of the products you buy will go off before you have a chance to use them, unless you cook for a large number of people or eat the same thing continuously.

I'm used to buying barely anything to eat.

Assuming foodstamps equivalent for $27 a week (for one person), you can get at the dollar tree:

$1 - 42 ounces of oats, 30 servings
$4 - 4 16 ounce bags of white rice, 4 servings each bag = 16 servings
$5 - 5 12 ounce bags of beans, 3 servings each bag = 15 servings
$5 - 5 12 ounce bags of spinach, 3 servings each bag = 15 servings. I also subsitute beans for frozen spinach if I can find meat cheap, which costs the same and also comes in 12 ounce bags.

That's $12 bucks I have left over, usually $13 because you only buy oats every three to four weeks or so. If I find chicken on sale, I get the cheaper cuts and It's about $5-$7 bucks for enough meat to get me through a week and a half to two weeks, and it goes in the freezer. So depending on the week you'll have $6 to $13 bucks to spend on bulk non-perishables, which you can either save or spend. I like to head down to the asian mart if I suddenly end up with more money than expected, and get a HUGE 150 serving bag of rice for like $15 and stick in in a giant tupperware, which can last me weeks to months on end and cuts down on my costs. The only thing I have trouble finding in bulk is beans and such, I can never find them larger than like a 1 to 2 pound bag. I'd love a giant 150 serving bag of beans like my rice, that would make a huge difference.

Your non-perishables can be easy to save up for and last a good, long while in bulk. Again, the thing that costs the most is perishables like meat, dairy and eggs. Ohh those delicious eggs are a treasure. Frozen veggies are easy and abundant to get, but I can't remember the last time I bought fresh produce.

It's a bitch, and it's boring, but if you budget correctly you can save up and get those bulky non-perishables out of the way. In fact, if you're new to living on your own and your parents are trying to get you things, don't ask for shit like a toaster or something, ask for giant-ass sacks of rice, sugar, flour and beans. Oh, and HUGE good quality tupperware.

Remember to freeze your bags/tupperwares of flour and rice for at least 60 hours to make sure you kill off any weevil eggs, too.

TOPKEK, but okay. Let me see:
>"While your fat cells shrink when that weight is lost, you still retain the same surface area. The new void under the larger surface area creates a layer of skin that may "hang," because there is less tissue underneath taking up space."
This part fails to mention that while the fat cells shrink, they can never truly be "lost." Nobody loses fat cells once they are formed, hence why the "surface area" is left to sag even if shrunk. Also why thin people resort to liposuction when they discover that no matter how hard they try, cellulite and extra fat virtually never disappear.

Logically, this is why someone who is 5'6 and 190 who drops to 120 has a better time with skin elasticity and fat cell shrinkage than someone who is 5'6 and 270 who drops to 120. The 270 pound person has more fat cells, and ergo, more "surface area" that they cannot get rid of.
>"The amount of loose skin that remains varies by individual. In fact, not everyone's skin sags afterwards, and it depends on several factors: weight gained and lost, age, total muscle mass, and genetics among them"
Yes, therefore a person like Tess who has been obese nearly ALL her life, is 30, and has no muscle mass has little chance of recovering it.
We're not discussing an obese teenager who could lose weight and suffer minimal skin damage due to neglectful parents who fed him junk for five years, we're talking about people like Tess fuckin' Holiday who don't have a hope in hell for it.

Also, this fucking "before and after" picture on this mother fuckin' website is EXACTLY the kind of weight "loss" lies I'm talking about. That dorky cueball they use as an example clearly had surgery and is lying about it:
>website doesn't have a full body shot of his "before"
>doesn't mention his before weight
>doesn't mention how long it took him (actually lessening their point)
Yet in the after picture…
>that shooped abdominoplasty scar!
All these fucking articles do is bring shame to people who have had to lose 100+ pounds and wound up with sagging skin, like what would have happened anyway, because they're brainwashed to believe by these shitholes that they "did it wrong."

10/10 I am mad. These people are frauds.

Yeah the whole 'lose it slowly and there's no extra skin' is bullshit. It's mainly genetics, how your fat is distributed, and how long you've had it. Some people can lose 100lbs fast and can barely pinch the extra skin, while someone else can take their time losing 40 and have sagging.

Not sure if this sounds too 32 inch waist chan or not, feel free to delete, Admin.

I was 196lbs as a 13 year old and only 4'11 from childhood trauma triggered overeating and later Bulimia.
I was rail thin at 87lbs at the age of 19 and I'm only 5'2 now. I'm currently 115lbs and 22 years old, no loose skin, no stretch marks, no health problems, the only things lingering from my hamplanet days are side-effects of the damaging and extreme things I did to my body to 'get thin quick'.

However, obese fully grown adults as well as the morbid obese and super morbid obese probably will never manage to undo their disordered eating patterns and are statistically likely to fail to lose weight anyway.

current fatty here who's actually pretty content with their weight (5'0" and 220-ish lbs) : i'd put my estimate at around 4-5,000 cal or so.

i dont really eat breakfast (i live in canada where breakfast consists of tim hortons coffee, true fact.) but for lunch its usually something like soup and a sammich, dinner is probably pasta or whatever, and i generally eat a lot during the day at random intervals.

its not that i eat unhealthy, but i just eat a lot and frequently. hell, i dont even eat chocolate or candy that often because i dont like the taste of sweet things, pastries/baked goods are generally only for like birthdays or special events, soda i dont like because the fizzyness bothers me, etc. i'd rather eat a sandwich than some poptarts, for example

i'm pretty much fine with my weight because while i actually have uncommonly good self esteem, i've got no weight related health issues atm. hereditary-wise i've got no history of diabetes or heart disease or anything.

the only issues i have is asthma which i've had since loooong before i was even slightly overweight, and the fact that the ligaments in my legs are fucked up because i used to play a lot of sports when i was younger and had my fair share of tearing and retearing ligaments, so now they're kinda fucky.

i consider myself really lucky to have no health issues that i know of other than asthma and weird leg ligaments due to fucking them up so many times. literally to a point where i was told by my doctor that if i didnt stop being an idiot who's always tearing and stretching them then they wouldnt go back to normal.

i dunno, honestly. i personally think i carry it well but i'm gonna admit when i was younger i got bullied a lot (even when i was thin and sporty, shocking i know) so after all that i'm pretty whatever. we only get one body, so if mine happens to be fat then that's how mine is and unless i consciously want to change it, i'm gonna stay fat.

i'm not gonna say i'm even slightly thin because i know for a fact that i'm not and can never pass for a thin person, but if you dress well enough and are blessed with things like a good body type, nice face, hair, etc, then it's easy to forget that people look down on you because you're fat, and then it's easier to feel good about yourself.

i guess i'm one of the rare fatties who truly dont give too much of a fuck about being fat because to me it's not a big deal unless i have health issues, which i currently dont.

JESUS you're not fat.
I just to be 85lbs and am now 110lbs and that's just within 'healthy'… (I'm 5'5 though but I doubt one inch makes that much of a difference).
>>145061
Bruh, that's fine, just don't post on a thread where people talk about the bad shit of being fat thinking you can convince us that you're "healthy and happy" eating your life away.
>>148429
Idk I think she'd be pretty average, you just want her to be pretty when she's thin.

No. 148503

>>148479
Overeating can also be due to mental illness. It's not unusual for people to blow up like balloons due to depression.

Anyway, b/p is like the ultimate lack-of-impulse-control disorder, and if anorexics had more self control, it wouldn't be so hard for them to recover, now would it?

Besides, with how much food you've got to be constantly shoving in your face, I don't see how any normal, mentally healthy person can become morbidly obese. It's got to take so much effort to get that fat.

No. 148553

>>148503
Well actually if you accidentally overeat an extra 200-300 calories a week, over the years you will get very fat.
So basically spend a few years being depressed, overeating for comfort, and only attempting sporadic exercises and there ya go. No need to shove a barrel of twinkies in yer gob for it to happen.

No. 150018

>i'd put my estimate at around 4-5,000 cal or so

You are only 5'0" and you eat more than double of what a normal person needs. Do you realise how much this is?

No. 150094

>>148553
The biggest culprit for gaining weight while depressed is the lack of activity. When you're in a legit depressed episode you have no energy to do anything, no motivation to even get up and walk around at the grocery store to go shop for food and other things. Gaining weight while depressed is a real thing.

I always see people posting "ugh, she would be so pretty if she wasn't so fat". Or "she has such a pretty face".
But to be honest, I think she's average at most. She wears heavy makeup which helps a lot.
Her look is pin-up inspired which works great for her body type and the style does suit her well. I just think that she's not all that special. If it weren't for her weight, she'd be just another girl.

More obesity blues: Research shows brains of obese people have less tissue

They found that obese individuals had, on average, 8 percent less brain tissue than people of normal weight, while overweight people had 4 percent less tissue. According to Thompson, who is also a member of UCLA's Laboratory of Neuro Imaging, this is the first time anyone has established a link between being overweight and having what he describes as "severe brain degeneration."

"That's a big loss of tissue, and it depletes your cognitive reserves, putting you at much greater risk of Alzheimer's and other diseases that attack the brain," he said. "But you can greatly reduce your risk for Alzheimer's if you can eat healthily and keep your weight under control."

No. 150222

>>150171
Mind linking it? Sounds like a vaguely correlated study. Is it obesity causing tissue depletion, or already tissue-depleted people becoming fatter? I'd have to see the study where they monitor someone from average-to-obese weights to be entirely convinced.

If you can fit into a standard size S in most stores, you're 'skinny'.
if you're an a-cup, you're 'flat'.
I'm an inch shorter than you and 50 pounds lighter, and even I usually wear a size M.
To some extent it's based on body type; apple body types are going to look 'chubbier' than others because of weight distribution.
If you're wearing a size L, you're definitely 'chubby'.
Size XL and higher is 'fat'.

>>171947
There are too many individual variations in body composition for it to be accurate on that scale. Sure, you can say with confidence that someone with a BMI of like, 12 is unhealthy, but when you're talking about weights that are just barely out of the normal range, it means nothing. People may have smaller or larger bone structures, different amounts of muscle mass, different fat distribution etc. And your body fat percentage is what determines health, not how many pounds you weigh. BMI is meant to be used as a preliminary metric for assessing POPULATIONS, because when you're looking at a large number of people the individual differences get averaged out. Example: if one person's BMI goes up, they might be getting fat or they might be building muscle. If the BMI of a whole population is going up, you can be sure that it's not because they're all getting buff. BMI is HILARIOUSLY bad at determining the health of individuals; a huge amount of people with "healthy" BMIs are classified as obese based on their body fat percentage: http://blogs.plos.org/obesitypanacea/2015/04/30/30-of-people-with-a-healthy-bmi-are-actually-obese/
> Thus, on an individual basis BMI tends to consistently underestimate a person’s adiposity.
> Thus, on an individual basis BMI tends to consistently underestimate a person’s adiposity.
> Thus, on an individual basis BMI tends to consistently underestimate a person’s adiposity.

A 17 BMI is most likely healthier than, say, 22 for a sedentary person. And it just looks better.

In East Asia it's considered completely normal and healthy for girls to have "underweight" BMIs, but fat white people start clutching their pearls whenever you suggest that weighing 120 lbs at 5'0 is maybe, just maybe, not perfectly svelte.

No. 172036

No, I think you're willfully ignoring facts because you're lazy as fuck and it is probably an american thing to get to the state where you have such a high bf% percentage at a low weight from pure laziness. I'm literally from HK so lol don't lecture me about east asian standards. Being slightly underweight is usually fine but no it's not normal to have such a high bf % to look fat at a bmi of over 19 or have to be a BMI of 17 to even 'look thin' and I doubt most of the population is THAT sedentary bc that's just gross

No. 172042

Women have a high body fat percentage in general and have to work harder to build muscle, plus we have smaller frames and lower bone density. It is very, very easy for women to look flabby at a low BMI– I should probably clarify that I'm only talking about girls here (although there are plenty of skinnyfat men). Sure lots of Americans (western people in general) are lazy as fuck but you don't even have to be sedentary to look flabby. Casual exercise will not build very much muscle mass. If you don't lift or dedicate a lot of your time to a sport, you are better off staying under a BMI of 19.

I think you and I just have different definitions of 'fat'.

>And 120lbs at 5'0 is fucking huge and would look fat unless you have a lot of muscle mass

What about 110, then?
105?
100?
Where do you draw the line?

No. 172052

>>172042
Casual exercise won't make you look fat at an underweight BMI. Women have a higher body fat because of the way our bodies are built hence why womens bodies curve whilst men are more angular and men get more muscle definition/lower bf%. It's bc of your body composition, it doesn't make it normal to look flabby for your body composition at a low BMI and that shouldn't be very, very easy unless you are ridiculously sedentary. 120lbs at 5'0 is at the high end of healthy and probably overweight bf% in most people, it's not comparable to you saying anything over 100lbs in a 5'4 woman is fat

No. 172054

I wanna make art of Tess shoving hot dogs down her mouth, all the while she has stylists putting pounds of make-up on her, styling her hair in the most ridiculous, voluminous way, and cinching her in a corset. And she'd try to yell "Eff Your Beauty Standards" while trying her best to not choke on that sausage.

I'd put '#Hypocrite' on the bottom, then have another slogan next to it saying, 'My choice, my life.'

I'd tag it as #effyourbeautystandards and present it to the hambeast as fan art from her adoring fan.

There are definetly people healthier than me. And that BMI isn't an accurate reading of health. A very muscular person's BMI could be in the obese or overweight range but muscle weighs a lot more than fat does by volume. And abdominal fat is the killer. Perhaps this is why men are more prone to heart attacks, as they tend to store fat in their abdomen instead of hips and chest like women do.

What Tess needs to realise is being a fat model is a big enough niche without getting tatted on top of that.

This is probably the high point of her career and that's only because the ~super progressive~ types are all over fat women with tattoos. She lucked out and got her 15 minutes of fame from that alone.

She could probably wing it as an ~alt model~, but she's never going to get a job that high profile because most of them are looking for, like that anon said, canvases. Not landwhales with a ton of bad tattoos.

It's Thursday evening, the night before payday. I'm so far into my overdraft that the bank is going to charge me fees for going over my limit. I have £50 in savings. I get paid tomorrow. And all I want to do is order takeaway pizza.

It's all I want. All I want. Even though I know I'm in debt and can't afford it. Even though I've ordered that exact same pizza four times this month and every time I had it, it made me sick and bloated and I retained water for days. Even knowing all that, and knowing that if I wait one day I can eat whatever I want, I don't want to wait, I want to spend a third of my savings on something that will make me sick and fat and it's all I want in the world right now. I am typing this and almost crying because I can't have it - or I could have it, but if I had it, it would be a terrible decision.

I feel completely helpless when it comes to food. I don't know what's wrong with me. I know food isn't crack or heroin or anything like that, but I hate that I feel this disgusting and addicted and most people would just call me lazy and pathetic and greedy if they knew. File: 1444162734845.jpg (39.27 KB, 542x549, Tess Holliday, size pin-up mod…)

The thing that annoys me about Tess is the stupid open-mouth thing she does all the time, like she's getting ready to eat a huge burger, lel

But not only that, I'm annoyed at her 'alternative' look quickly went mainstream just because she had a bunch of HAES followers. Honestly I like the pin-up look, too, but you don't see a lot of those in couture photos, yet somehow Tess gets to be the lucky one just because she 'effed your beauty standards'.

>eyeroll

I think what annoys me is just the hypocrisy of it all. The fashion industry doesn't want models to have too many tattoos because that detracts from the clothing itself; the focus is on the clothes and how well they would wear when a consumer is browsing the pages for them.

Having too many tats going on keeps the focus away from the clothes, especially if you're modeling more revealing pieces like lingerie or whatever.

The only time something like this works is if you're modeling for Hot Topic or whatever.

Now the fashion world bends over backwards for Tess just because she's the one fatass to get many followers, and the fashion world wants to cash in on that. So they go out of their way to airbrush her tats every time and somehow let her get away with the pin-up look in every single one of her photo shoots, even though she doesn't model vintage/retro clothing in like half of them.

Meanwhile all the other alt models that are of normal weight range don't get the same exposure and tell them that they're too 'alt' to do any kind of modeling that Tess now does.

>case in point: I read a comment a while back of how someone actually mistook Tess for a Suicide Girl, because they thought there's no way she could get into mainstream modeling with her look and all those tats. Not to mention her damn weight, which belongs more on a fat fetish site.

having too much fat distracts you from the clothes too. Tess's whole thing has never been about clothes or modeling clothes.

>Now the fashion world bends over backwards for Tess just because she's the one fatass to get many followers, and the fashion world wants to cash in on that.

now I'm not on the up and up with the fashion world but I highly doubt the whole thing is bending backwards for Tess. It just seems like one agency plastering her everywhere and now the SJW shit is "in vogue" other places (non fashion world) are picking up on it a bit. idk has Tess ever been to a Fashion Week type thing?

And agreed, some models have very small tattoos, but full sleeves or large pieces are too distracting. Models are supposed to be blank canvases for clothing for a reason.

No. 227347

>>227343
Well at her size, the dr is going to have a hard ass time cutting through that many layers of fat. Not only that, but all those folds and such is going to make the c-section wound hard to heal, it might also cause friction and irritation afterward.

Oh, and they cath you during a c-section so imagine someone have to stick a catheter up her urethra, or performing cervical checks. Lawd help that OB/GYN.

I do want to point out that gestational diabetes is really luck of the draw. You can eat well and get it, or eat crap and not get it. The whole thing is that the placenta releases insulin on top of your pancreas, sometimes it's too much and you end up with GD.

No. 227377

>>227350
Yeah, but GD and eating so poorly that you give your unborn child diabetes are two different things though?
I could be wrong, but gestational diabetes is what affects the mother DURING the gestational period.
I think original anon was saying that given this trainwreck's penchant for eating like absolute shit and claiming it to be healthy/acceptable/whatever (and we all know she won't stop during pregnancy), that she will actually give the fetus diabetes, continuing on into it's life outside of the womb?

No. 227384

>>227377
Ah, I thought the other poster meant strictly GD. Yes Tess is at a high risk of type 2 diabetes, which will affect the fetus as does GD if she does get that.

No. 227416

Wow, did she not consult her GP before any of this? I have a friend who is obese but not even remotely close to Tess' size.

Her GP told her that unless she lost a significant amount of weight, she would be putting the child and herself at high risk if she decided on children any time soon.

Tess is such a selfish cow, I don't give a fuck about her - but why would you risk the many complications that will occur from coming to full term with a baby?

No. 227708

Yep. I ate sensibly and stayed active throughout my pregnancy. Gained 25 lbs total and by the time I got home from the hospital, I had already lost 15 lbs.

On the other hand, my sister used pregnancy as an excuse to eat everything and she gained 60 lbs and had a botched epidural because being obese makes it very hard to do it correctly.

No. 227731

>>227708
Exactly. It's normal to gain 25-30 pounds during pregnancy. Using it as an excuse to eat garbage is not only bad for you, but for your fetus. these idiot women need to be educated. ugh.. 60 pounds? that's insane.

No. 227736

Yeah, she used it as an excuse to eat constantly, while I ate in moderation and biked everywhere up until the third trimester when I had to stop because the ligaments around my pelvis were loosening up and causing pain every time I moved my legs.
