Her knowledge of insects on a professional level is minimal at best. The shoddiness of her taxidermy work and the presentation of the bugs. The lying about her sources. The simple, unadulterated laziness. Is all that really worth 50 dollars?
c) her target audience. Now sure, nobody is obligated to be thoughtful and a clean person (the very thought!), but Suzy damn right knows who her audience is. She uses the statistics on her youtube, she can see her instagram, she's not blind. And yet she gives off an obnoxious air of "art has no value than the value you give it" as though she is actually talented at it, and she's not selling overpriced bug corpses to young girls. She knows young girls will lap her shit up and she doesn't care. That speaks more of her moral value and integrity than the value of her crap.
d) her background. She's not exactly an ambitious and broke artist doing their passion to make a living. She's not scrummaging the couch for coins. She's not a teenager making trinkets for some pocket money. She's a grownass woman married to a famous and rich youtuber and has two channels of her own giving her income. If she really, TRULY wanted to have this store as a passion project and not to rake in the moneys, they'd be a hella lot cheaper than they are. Again, her moral integrity is weaker than a breadcrumb sandcastle.
e) the environment. Etsy has a lot of legit sellers who own a store and make a living and really perfect the art. But this is business. This is a formula. On the internet, I may add. This isn't a fancy high art gallery that only the creme de la creme of society visit and toss money everywhere at "art" works. She works alone at home gluing shit together. She doesn't have a factory. She doesn't have tons of employees to feed. She doesn't need to pay rent or electricity or keep her studio afloat. She's at home, on Etsy, selling overpriced shit to young impressionable teenagers.
That's my reasoning. She's a con artist. Everything about her is about money and not the business. It's just infuriating. She is doing basically nothing to earn this money, and she has also done nothing to earn the other money that helps her live such a pampered life. Most of us wouldn't care about this if she didn't act like her life is ~so hard~ and like she works her ass off every day.
