aw anon no you won’t. you should use a VPN when torrenting or ripping things as a rule just to be extra safe, but no, they’re not going to imprison you for listening to music without paying $1.50 a pop on itunes

They only go after people who share the music, not download it. It's a little different. Unless you're torrenting some popular album that just came out, you should be in the clear without a VPN. Zip files are also pretty much okay.

The reason people get caught torrenting is because your IP address is attached and major corps have spies watching in big torrents.
