Is zoomerism spreading to different age demographics in terms of general information/reading comprehension? I have a friend and we live in 2 separate countries, so every year we go on a trip to a new country together without our Nigels. In recent years, I will do research about a destination we choose in terms of transport, timings, food to try etc. I recently sent her a website link to buy tickets for a local event, suggesting we do this on our trip. She says 'let's do this instead, watch this video' and sends me a retarded 20 sec tiktok video which was talking about the EXACT event I was referring to. It's like she couldn't understand the website or even my short text message. It has to be in a tiktok for her to understand it. She will also recently send me braindead videos spreading general misinformation on anything from celebrities to health. Has anyone else experienced this with their friends who aren't even zoomers?

I wonder if we (millennials and older) are better at just leaving an online space we feel isn't for us is because we are used to the "it's the internet, don't take it so seriously" mantra and having an easier time to find spaces more fit for our interests from back in the day. There was always a niche forum or livejournal somewhere where you could find people into the same fandoms or hobbies, and if you weren't able to take the bad with the good it wasn't odd to just leave.
It feels like it's more common for terminally online zoomers to demand online spaces are catered to them, even if said space isn't related to their interests, instead of clicking out and look elsewhere if they don't like what they see (praying that gen alpha isn't going to adopt the "UUUHM I'M LIKE LITERALLY A CHILD???" victim mentality younger zoomers tend to have whenever they get pushback). It feels like the result of the gentrification of the internet, everything has to look the same and cater to everyone at the same time, and if not the one's that feel even slightly miffed will throw a fit. There aren't really any spaces for niche interests anymore, even if you use tags you usually still have to share space with elements surrounding it you don't like. However, you still have the option to not interact and have enough theory of mind to understand everything doesn't cater to your interests at all times, but it feels more common for zoomers to not understand that. But again, is this the result of lack of spaces to socialize with others for youngsters both online and offline? How are you supposed to grow as a person if you are stuck in a bubble where the result of stepping out of line isn't limited to only mild embarrassment anymore, but also public scrutiny and ridicule?
