The record label executive she used to be signed with says they received no investment from Rob Grant. However I don't think she grew up poor at all. She lived in a trailer park, as an adult, with one of her many trashy boyfriends. Her family seems middle-class to upper-middle class. I'm sure they were stingy like many middle-class families (Lana recalls them doing road trips instead of flying) but I've never seen any evidence that they were working class. Rob Grant was a copywriter at an advertising firm who moved to real estate and then became a domainer. Patricia Hill was an assistant account executive. I've never heard of them being teachers and furniture salesmen, they had normal middle class jobs before the domain thing blew up.
