the fact that the sonic movie was the start of it all is shameful, that and the nona who posted the smug picture of him from liar liar. The sheer fucking audacity of my 12 year old self to have flecher reede be one of my sexual awakenings. I had no recollection he was my dad's age.
I've always had daddy issues and awful taste in men (fictional and real) and I felt like my history doomed me like a moth to a flame
I think what annoyed me the most is that during my fangirl phase people bullied me, usually for his looks over his actions (everyone should've been bullying me over the latter). Robontik didn't matter, the pickings of people to talk to were slim. He's not really fanned over. Doesn't have many stans. Not conventionally attractive. His fansites run by ancient fucking boomers with distractingly awful typing. Some of them were annoying! not psychotic, not deranged… just annoying. The couple nice people I'd met within the fandom and would mssg, we lost contact. It was a pretty lonely place. all of my fan or stan spaces were ix-nayed by the time he made his cringeworthy Slapgate speech.
The ways I utilized him as a coping mechanism for my abusive environment at the time was what I needed to prevent me from killing myself, but it went too far, for too long. instead of begging for help, my embarrassment recessed me into isolation piece by piece. I was like, and am still like "why did I ever lose my mind over this crazy schizo dweeb", and that's what I'm trying to fucking therapy and medicate out of myself at the moment. Ofc it goes much deeper than that, but the surface level insecurity was the fandom and the stan culture surrounding him sucked in its own individualistic, painfully solitudious way and quickly became unhealthy. What is sad is that when I was in it at its best, there was a part of me for a time that was creative, productive, and happy, it inspired me, I don't know where she went.

Nice thread, this is something I've wanted to talk about for a while. I've gone through many standoms and noticed I had the same harmful habits throughout all of them. Social media being the number one. Even if it's not necessarily an account devoted to them it still helps expose you to a constant stream of their content and their stan community. Suddenly you feel like their goals are your goals, their flubs are your responsibility to explain and defend, etc. When you make a celeb your identity, and people attack that celeb, it can feel like your own character and safety are under attack. Looking back it's embarrassing I lost sleep and felt anxious over my millionaire fave being deemed problematic or untalented or whatever. They're going to be fine kek.

i was a hardcore 1D stan in my mid teens and only have fond memories from that time. now, however, i'm mainly into sports and god moids are a thousand times worse when it comes to fan behaviour. whether it's a 35 yo football fan or a stan twitter fag, they all are horrible and i wish they were shamed for their insane behaviour to a larger degree and then lobotomised. even the most unhinged female fan spaces are less toxic and hateful than the spaces men occupy. the parasocial relationships moids have with athletes need to be studied.

What I miss the most about being chronically online in my teen years is the seemingly endless amount of smut and fan-made content I'd consume. Life seems so bland and boring now, Dan Howell is a geriatric faggot, and the world has lost its spark…

I'm a blind item and gossip connoisseur who's been collecting since 2020 but there's not a lot abt her out there. Most of what I find just says behind the scenes she's a bitch.

Never forget the brazil concert and how due to Taylor and her teams greedines it lead to people getting injured and…dying.
No. 2090430
>>2090421Nothing happened because Taylor took a picture with the family of the deceased girl (she did this to save face and for PR after she was caught lying that the fan died outside her concert when it was proven that she was inside the concert).
Other fans who were also injured at the concert and posted proof of their injuries got attacked by western Taylor fans who proceeded to attack them with with racial insults such as "these dirty third worlders don't deserve taylor" "taylor shouldnt go in these third world countries anymore" "shut up third worlder" etc etc.
Nothing happened out of it because Taylor did PR with one of the family of the deceased and the ones injured were harassed by the western fans.

>>2090421When it comes to hollywood and lawsuits the goal is to quash it as fast as possible. That's why most payoffs from celebs are done in civil court with prejudice meaning nobody can refile. And hollywood lawyers are paid well (nearly $1000 an HOUR well) to ensure their clients get their dirt swept under rugs
I remember reading somewhere that Taylor would send cease and desists to music journalists if they reviewed her too negatively, she's very media savvy and media manipulative

>>2090459I only sparsely keep up with releases and follow gossip on it these days. I like some releases but I've felt like the quality has dipped significantly.
I started listening to the genre in 2010 so I witnessed it skyrocket from something only nerds consumed to being an international sensation. It was so fucking surreal. I'm glad I never stanned any boy groups cuz I witnessed women I knew lose their mind to stanning them, and the burning sun scandal was an eye opening look into how sexist korea is against women.

>>2090459I was very into it for years until last year. I turned 24 and I just think I'm too old for it now, especially when people born in like 2007 keep debuting.
I still haven't even listened to my ult's new song that came out a week or two ago even though I have a bunch of their albums and their posters on my wall.

>>2090467>I started listening to the genre in 2010 Oh cool another anon who discovered it in 2010, my first song was lollipop by 2ne1 and bigbang. I ended up finding out about that song because it was used in a anime amv so i looked the song up and thats what started it all.
Its ironic how much more fun and creative the music was when only geeks or nerds knew about it but once it skyrocketed into the mainstream and became cool with normies then it went to complete shit.
I knew the music went to shit when this extremely unlikable fat girl who was rude to me and was hooking up with her younger sister's boyfriend, all of a sudden got interested in kpop in 2018 despite previously viewing it as something weird and uncool.
>>2090482Yeah being a kpop fan as you get older is awkward because all your favorite groups either disband or go on hiatus and all you have left is new groups being pumped every 2 years by chodlings.
Also we all know the music has gotten worse but the videos too have also become disorganized and forgettable.

>>2090482 said, I have a hard time "stanning" a teenybopper born in like 2007 or 2008. I do listen to older groups like f(x), Baby Vox, T-ara, and Red Velvet because they have some good records.

>>2090515Oh i forgot about Lee Hi, that poor girl. She was so talented and if YG gave her regular comebacks and promotion she would be close to IU or Ailee level.
I do notice a weird pattern in YG and that's them treating their female soloists and groups much worse than their male ones. The way YG handled Park Bom's scandal so badly and basically abandoned 2ne1 meanwhile bigbang was getting into all sorts of scandals and YG still stood by them, even during burning sun YG was on bigbangs side, also im pretty sure YG got exposed for being a criminal too.
>imagine stanning corporationsThe only company stans that currently exist in the 4th generation are hybe stans.
>>2090517I was thinking the same thing. Also its so funny how hybe stans defended Min heejin over that sexualised song "cookie" back when she used to be in good terms with hybe. But now that she is in bad terms with hybe all of a sudden that song is wrong kek.

>min heejinI like some of newjeans songs and think their bunny mascot and collaborative efforts with the powerpuff girls concept was cute, but MHJ has been unapologetically using pedo pandering imagery ever since she was under SM entertainment. I'm still not fully understanding of the scope of the drama between her and HYBE over the girl groups but the fact that she wanted "younger" members for newjeans just screams weirdo to me.
