Kamui aka Svetlana Quindt is a German cosplayer known for her many Worbla armor costumes. Her claim to fame includes being hired by Blizzard to create costumes for conventions, flying to international conventions as a special guest as well as publishing her own how-to books.

https://www.instagram.com/kamuicosplay/

Aside from being notoriously difficult to work with due to her extremely restrictive photoshoot rules, she recently embarrassed herself during her panel on EpicCon.

To sum it up:

>Held a panel about turning cosplay into a business

>Spent most of the time bragging about how everything just fell into her lap for over half an hour
>Kept making jabs at her husband (who does her paintjobs, taxes, responds to her emails, and manages layout, editing, orders and shipping for her books according to https://www.kamuicosplay.com/2015/11/25/my-story/)
>Cut her husband off whenever he tried to answer a question related to his work during the Q&A, took the mic away etc
>Brags that she only wrote the books because she got annoyed with all the tutorial requests and is baffled that people really do spend money on what she basically just threw together in practically no time, turned everything into a huge joke at the expense of the poor plebs who throw their money at her
>Mentioned that her husband quit his job as an art director to work for her full-time and made fun of how she make him re-do stuff over and over if she doesn't like it.
>Eventually admitted that cosplay keeps her so busy that she made her husband write her bachelor's thesis for her and condescendingly gave him asspats for getting her a good grade. (Isn't that illegal?)

Just by watching your videos you can see how obnoxious she is. She is always shoving her books down your throat while trying to veil it in a funny way. But a big majority of what sets her costumes apart from others is the detailing her husband does on them. She's good with worbla and all but it wouldnt mean anything if he didnt bring it to life with paint. Its crap to hear she treats him so poorly since she'd be less than half of what she is now without him.

She used to be a decent tripfag on /cgl/ aaages ago when she was starting out and actually helped people out.

Then the big cosplayers started noticing her and she became a huge cunt. If I remember right she even betrayed some of her tripfag friends to get on the good side of efamous cosplayers.

The bachelors thing is fucked. If anyone has that on video I'm tempted to send it to her Uni, lel.

No. 243390

I was part of the Cosplay team at a con she guested at. Jesus fucking h Christ she was the biggest diva I've ever met.Kamui was a real "green m&ms in my dressing room type". She also can't judge for shit, and was marking people down for the most ridiculous, completely biased and unfair reasons, including doing skits at all in the same vein as the past year's winner, and people that she knew had entered competitions before. It was fucked up

No. 243392

I used to like her videos, but I don't like her "worbla is the cure to everything" attitude, or her now seemingly following the route of other youtubers of thrusting her dogs at the screen in order to get views

No. 243397

Shouldn't you have put this in the general Cosplay whores thread rather than making a new one? Shes too boring for her own thread

No. 243398

She went from making actual tutorials you could use to, wanna see how to make this? Well just use a $5K laser cutter with a $3 3-d printer machine and then have a husband to paint it all

No. 243403

I think my favourite was when she was commissioned by blizzard to make a costume, and not only did she pick a black character, but she fucked up the costume massively

>>243389

Eh I remember her throwing an absolute fit anyone someone offered constructive criticism. She got super up in arms when people suggested she sculpt details instead of flat painting them on.

No. 243441

She looks like if Miranda's facial features didn't look like they were melting off of her.

What's with the samefagging? Just put it all in one post.

No. 243757

Because they weren't samefagging. I was two, because I thought of my second one a bit later

No. 244085

Can anyone who was there confirm the thing about her husband writing her bachelors thesis?

No. 244090

Does anyone have a link to the video of her at EpicCon? Is it in German or something?

No. 244891

>>244085

Yep. Been there and it is, sadly, absolutely true.

No. 244903

I was at a con she held a panel at, and she was kind of a rude bitch. She was condescending when people asked her questions, even though most of the questions was because she couldn't explain for shit. Like talking about using a glue gun, then scolding people who asked about using glue guns for their projects because its bad.

No. 244958

Was just scrolling through.

Anyone know where "Kamui" came from? Cuz it means "god" in Japanized Ainu, kinda funny considering she's some self-important weeb.

No. 245365

Going to be honest here, I honestly thought a lot of her rudeness has come from a communication barrier, because I have German friends who come off the same way and they were way worse before they were able to speak any kind of fluent English.

I'm not a huge fan of Kamui because I think there are far more versatile cosplayers (as much as I appreciate her worbla work and I love Blizzard). However, there's so much baseless speculation floating around as well.

>>243389
I remember her posting on /cgl/. She got completely unnecessary abuse after she became popular. Classic gulls for getting salty at someone's success I guess.

>>243403
She also admitted to doing it when she wrote her blog and felt sorry about having done it.

>>244085
>>244891
So wait, no evidence? I'm interested in hearing about this if there's proof.

>>244958
It's also a thing in Naruto, so she possibly just took some weeby thing she liked the sound of and didn't think about what it meant.

Her husband also does all the blue print and template designs for her, so she mostly traces and cuts out out his work.

I use to like her stuff but I feel like its the same thing over and over. Bust and undy armor, even if it isn't cannon.

For example, here's her skyrim cosplay. It's suppose to be daedric armor, but it barely resembles it because she used a shitty Nexus MOD for a reference. She said it was to keep her transport load lighter but I feel like that's a lazy excuse due to her being a professional cosplayer. I have seen plenty of people with less skill do the full armor and have no issue.

She gets treated like a goddess, but like >>245385 said her husband does a large chunk of it. I use to think she was bitch too but honestly it probably is just the language barrier, so I won't hold it against her.

No. 245420

>>245393
She's never denied her husband does a lot of work. At least admitting it puts her higher than half of the so called pro cosplayers who blatantly lie about other people doing all the work for them.

No. 245427

>>245393
She didn't seem rude bc of her language barrier imo, it was more "I'm good at my craft and popular, therefore I'm better than you". Its fine that she is proud of herself, but she seems kind of stuck up. I know several germans, and none of them has the same vibe when explaining or answering questions.

No. 245450

>>245420
It's deceptive that she put out a book on painting cosplay pieces where she is listed as the sole author when her husband does the paint jobs for her actual costumes (and probably did lots of the paining for the book too). He also does all the design work but she sells patterns under her own name. There is also a difference between lying about credit and omitting credit, and I think earlier on she omitted crediting her husband a lot, and still does it to an extent today even if she got a little better about it. She definitely wanted people to think she did everything herself earlier on.

You do realise he's in on it ?
This is a business tactic, thirsty nerds think she's a genius and amazing, most don't care or know she has a husband. So they buy her stuff to support HER as good fans. They wouldn't support or love her if they knew it was her HUSBAND behind it. She's most likely doing the PR and interactions and gigs while he does the construction.

Anon said she was open about shit, I pointed out how she wasn't. We are talking about whether or not she does a thing, you are talking about WHY she does a thing. I don't disagree with you, but you're talking a different point.

FFXIV has a big event coming up this weekend, and apparently she's been doing quite few cosplays for it and has been on their reddit a few times. I saw her stuff and at first was blown away by how well made it was. Someone linked a video of a tutorial for making the prop, and I was actually a little surprised that her husband literally did all the work. All she did was cut out some worbla, make a plastic crystal and install some LED lights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dob9Ec3lr04 Then I remembered she had a thread here and I'm somehow not surprised that she seems to be such a diva.

Also this is one of the cosplays posted, and I was a little worried when no one said anything about the weird shop going on with it.

No. 253652

>>245427
Yea your right honestly anon. I was a bit of a fan before so I cut her some slack. She's gotten more stuck up.

>>253571
Wow he pretty much did do everything. I wonder if she just shot those scenes of her making small stuff just for show. It's what anon said at >>245458 because she's a chick she is able to garner a bigger and more loyal fanbase for her husbands work. She's pretty much a prop (pun intended).

Something is off to me too– like are her boots printed on tights or something?

Ah. That explains the flatness I'm seeing on a lot of the parts.

>tfw A-kon just announced her as a guest this year

Part of me wants to meet her still. I'm still on the fence about going this year because of friends not going.
