Honestly nothing is wrong with tumblr as long if you're using it correctly. Create a blog with quality posts like you would do with blogger or wordpress. Dont follow people who are using tumblr like it is twitter.
>>7506Use both. Save your crappy unnecessary unoriginal reblogs for pinterest and use tumblr as a personal journal.

i didn't really have a problem with tumblr until i started to gain a lot of followers. now it's like no matter how hard i try to stay on the not-crazy side of tumblr, it leaks. the more followers i get, the more dumb shit i see. the more previously cool people i followed slowly morph into genderqueer fictionkin. it's a cesspool.
but i like getting followers and feeling popular and seeing cute pics of food and my waifu.
if i could just bring myself to click delete it would all be over…

>>7527I love the people who ask you to message them if you are going to unfollow them because you unfollowing them "gives them anxiety" or something like that. It's just like calm down child. If your "anxiety" is that bad that you'll cry over one lost follower, get off the internet. And then somehow if you unfollow and don't tell them, they'll come after you or somehow a follower of theirs will find out and hunt you down to message them. It's very creepy.
>>7587well I mean, you don't just "become" asexual or something along the lines of LGBTQIA+, you just find something that defines you? But I feel like a lot of people do start identifying as something because a lot of tumblr is that and it's like you want to "fit in" or something, which I guess is like iffy, but then you have queer people identifying as hetero/cis but for them it's a different reason for identifying as such, so I don't feel as much hatred towards it. But I do agree that tumblr feminism is very misandrist.

>>7650>>7652Haha, I should clarify that it isn't everyone I mutually follow that becomes a sjw/fictionkin/whatever. But enough to bother me. But frankly one mutual friend being sjw is enough to bother me, lol.
I do try my hardest to only follow and reblog stuff relevant to my interests but idk, it seems like once you reach a certain amount of followers the chances of a few of your followers being "tumblr" ups. I like to post anime catgirls and stuff and people wanna lecture me on how
problematic it is. That kind of thing. I do reply with "lol ok" and shit like that but man, it gets old.
And then of course the ideal there is to just block messages but in the scheme of things those messages account for 1/10 of my messages so eh.
Then, if something happens in America related to race (so like a few times a month) all the white guilty people I follow must spam the hell out of my dashboard with the same shit and not tag because it's "IMPORTANT!!!!" so I can't blacklist. You ask for a tag and you're a racist. Nevermind the point is I frankly just don't want to go on tumblr to see news about every black kid that gets murdered. I can just like watch the news.
I'm just easily annoyed…
>>7649You totally don't "become" asexual but I am certain there are some people who co-opt the title for attention. I go through extensive periods of time where I just don't want to have sex. I haven't wanted to have sex for the past year, though I would like to with a boyfriend or someone I had feelings for. This is described as "demisexual" on tumblr I think. I think it's just normal behavior and I'm heterosexual. I would never in a million years identify as "asexual" or "demisexual" because they don't fit me, but I could see people having similar feelings (or perhaps having never had sex, not knowing if they really have the desire or not) and labeling themselves as such even though that's not what asexual is. Things like demisexual, demiromantic, greysexual, shit like that, just seems to mainly be used by normal heterosexual people so that they can feel like they fit in.
There's some guy on tumblr who gets a lot of flack for having the view that you are either male, female, both, or neither, and that sexuality has never mean to explain how/why/when you have sex. I agree with all of that and it makes perfect sense to me and a lot of people I know. People complain about "erasure" but I'm not sure when they are going to realize they are not helping their cause by including all these made up gendertypes and sexualities.
No. 7664
>>7657GOD I have a hard time explaining this to people because it seems like no one else shares my true annoyance with selfies. I don't like them in general, but I acknowledge that they are a part of modern internet culture and I am kind of tolerant of it. I don't mind seeing them occasionally from people I know/like. Like, if I'm following you, I don't really mind if you post a selfie every so often. In fact it's sometimes cool to see the face behind the blog, or whatever.
BUT with that said, I hate events like blackout, visibility days, whatever. I don't like selfies from random people I don't know. I don't care about them. I don't want to see them. I don't care if you're pretty because…I just don't care. And I don't like people who post a selfie and then relog the same fucking selfie like 5 times a day until they get enough notes. You reblog your own selfie and you earn yourself an unfollow. Get over yourself.

I never understood that at all. Also, what's with all this 'slut shaming' shit? Yeah, yeah. I get it, girls can do whatever they want bla bla. But I remember around two years ago when it was tumblr feminism was beginning to boom, I was literally just giving my opinion on how the feminists came across and someone anon'd me saying "You're such a fuckin' hateful slut shaming bitch!!!" over absolutely nothing. That's how pathetic these girls are.
Also, I think it's just an excuse to shag as many people as possible without getting called out for it. That's all I see the 'slut shaming' pass for. No one can actually talk it over and say "Yeah well, I got pregnant because–" it's always "She can do whatever she wants!!! It's her body!!!!!!!!!!!!!! slut shaming is wrong!!!!" but half the time these bitches never bring up the idea of the pill or contraception.
Oh and my favourite was the abortion party thing. How girls on tumblr agree with the idea that abortion parties are right! I mean, I guess it's a relief to have an abortion for some but it was amazing to see how defensive they became when someone slandered it or gave their opinion on the matter.
I can't stand tumblr feminism. It gives me a headache, it's not even feminism. It's just something for some desperate sweaty college students to make shitty art work for and 'no' badges for their etsy shop. Something for greasy obese hairy low lives to look up to and a place for pubescent little girls to finally feel like they 'belong' somewhere.

One thing that always gets to me about these types of threads is that the majority of you consider your experiences to be representative of the rest of the population. For example
>>7688, you said that slut shaming is an excuse for those against it to fuck as many guys as possible without facing shame but then don't bring up contraception.
What? Dude the vast majority of feminists I followed advocated against slut shaming because of the fact that guys were praised for having as much sex as possible whereas women are made to feel guilty for having more than 1 or 2 partners. Contraception is also largely brought up as a need that should be made free or at least much cheaper and available to teens the same way that condoms are.
You could do a quick google search to find multiple tumblr blogs discussing these issues yet what you come across is 100% of tumblr.
I'm not targeting you as though you're the only one thats wrong, but it's annoying as fuck because you use that to justify your hatred for something you don't even understand.
I always make sure to look up any of the statements a lot of you make here as well as those people on tumblr themselves make to see if they are accurate, especially before attempting to discussing it with someone else.
Anyway, this is different from the people who are using the term slut shaming
incorrectly by applying it to situations where they can cheat on their significant other or who felt they didn't have to get pregnant despite engaging in sex with a person.

No. 7898
>>7892That's true.
Blogs do discuss this issue, which is good. But the majority of the time, when I was on tumblr all I ever saw was sailor moon banners with "slut shaming is wrong" and girls just throwing that term around aimlessly. Then when you questioned it, all you ever received was backlash and it shoved down your throat. People make pointless points about "men this-" and "men that-" but in person, I never even hear any of this shit coming from anybody I go to college with. I just think it's an online mentality or something, if that makes sense?
So I just gave up, it became boring and quite frankly, I don't even care. I just distance myself away from any of that now, I don't want to see it.
At the end of the day, I do not think 'slut shaming' will actually ever end. It's not that women don't like women, but not every woman will get along or be 'kind' like tumblr wants them to be. Not promoting that kind of behaviour, I just do not think it'll end. I think people will be more… well, it'll mellow down. But never go away, like most things in the world.
Whoever someone chooses to bed, it shouldn't be anyone else's business but there will ALWAYS be someone who will pry and make it their business.
I am not against feminism but when I did follow any feminist on tumblr, it was such a DRAG.

I guess a lot of people can relate to what they're saying, which I'm not bashing, just the fact that their delivery is so bad jfc.
Idk who you're specifically talking about on tumblr, and this isn't really related to what you're saying, but something I noticed is that the slang/music/fashion black people make and their way of looking at things has been immensely popular for decades. It think the reason it seems so "in your face" is because of how much media tries to simultaneously play it off as though its inferior, so the fact that you see/hear any of it at all causes you to focus on it.
I think its also the reason tumblr and many other sites obsess over Asians. they do not get the visibility they do as other races, so people foam at the mouth at anything East Asian related, specifically Japanese or Korean. I'm also assuming because Asians are the minority that has the most in common with white people, that it is why so many white weebs obsess to the extent they do (not trying to make it a racial issue in terms of who obsesses more, just that in general I've noticed white people are more into East Asian culture than other groups, maybe for different reasons too?) since they can relate to someone that is so "different".
Last thing on my mind: the skin lightening on pics there is a thread of. I've always wondered, for the white girls who lighten their pictures, if it really is about race for them?
Btw, I myself am white, so I hope no one takes this as me being confrontational. I just had a soc class where we were taking a sociological approach to every thing so I'm just wondering about the stuff posted about here, lol.

Especially Japan and Korea since they both have been under the occupation of the US and nowadays are very westernized, developed countries so westerners can relate to their society. But those three countries share a very similar culture, entertainment and traditions while the south-eastern/southern like the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand etc. are very different from them. I'm fascinated by everything from Japan and Korea, but the SE countries, not so much. They're actually nothing like the far east Asian countries so complaining about people being interested in Korea and Japan but not the Philippines is kind of petty and implies that all Asian countries are the same.

and as for your little model thing – you make that choice when you take the photo shoot, but yeah, an employer is going to understand that you did a tasteful nude while you were employed as a model vs you took trashy mirror-shot nudes for notes on tumblr.
>Also, this generation has a lot of like stay at home jobs which don't exactly have a concrete employers and they make money fine and enough to support themselves, so that nude or butt pic won't get in the waythis is why you seem young. this generation does not have stay at home jobs, unless you mean things like camming and etsy shops. those are not longterm careers and most not enough to support themselves more than day-to-day and they don't provide benefits. a lot of the people who are currently camming and running a taobao reseller shop on storenvy in their early 20s will probably be trying to get a regular job by the time they're 25. actual work-from-home positions that aren't sex work or self-employment do have employers who go through applications and background checks and you are often required to report to a physical location every so often. but as i said…no, this generation does not have a lot of stay at home jobs. lol.
