Because it's part an aesthetic and subculture I call "nerdy-trashy". Think of some average looking white Midwestern girl from a lower middle class background who turns up to mid sized cons with NERV/BNHA tattoos and piercings all over and a massive alcohol problem she "ironically" admits as the archetype that represents it best.

There's just something really unsettling when you realize these are the majority of nerds these days: people from a lower class, family dysfunction background, broken homes who have such severe psychological issues they genuinely think going to Korea or Japan and getting knocked up by the first guy they meet is a good idea.

It's sad.

PS: I'm sure there's a male equivalent but I've never mixed with enough of them to know. Maybe other farmers are more on point.

And hmm I knew a guy who looked just like the dude in that picture. I rejected him for being too ugly and I'm not even half as pretty as that girl lmao. That could even help answer your question, AMWF might be particularly offputting because it's a weird reversal of typical western beauty standards. Usually Asian men are considered low tier and white women high tier, so it's particularly weird and desperate to see white women salivating over any Asian dude they can get.

I strongly advise you to read the gaijin hunter threads on /w/. They're both as bad as each other. Asian men who chase White women are terrible and predatory, and White men who chase Asian women are terrible and predatory. Never got this whole "my interracial coupling is better than yours!" thing tbh.

Not that it matters to me, sorry to nitpick. Lower class is just not the vibe I get, but they do have broken homes. It's still sad.
To address OP's question, it unnerves me because it's based off a fantasy. The guys they get with will be no different from their own country's aside from race. Plus something OP didn't mention: the girls are always consoomers which fits the "nerdy-trashy" descriptor. They consoom their weeb/koreaboo content so hard that they uproot their whole lives for it. The entire international experience is like a product they buy into. They'll post hauls of all the cutesy exotic shit they buy while their followers wish it were them. It's all a wrapped-up shiny promise to make them happy. Idk, it's hard to describe this feeling, but yeah it's fucked.
