That chart doesn't seem right. I've read a CDC study on sexual partners, and their numbers were way lower.

Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised if people with a higher partner count have a more difficult time staying in a long-term monogamous relationship. I don't think it's impossible, but I think variety can get addicting for some people, and they find it difficult to stop once they've started.

This is all just personal speculation, though. I don't have any hard data available. I could be wrong.

I'm 23, have had about 6 past partners and have been monogamous for years now. I like it. Monogamy is fucking easy tbh. Cheating bitches are just looking for an excuse.

These numbers seem really high for the average population. What study was this from? Is this only self reported numbers by people who consider themselves promiscuous?

Beyond that and to answer your questions: I have no idea if it affects a promiscous person's ability to pair bond, but I do believe that promiscuous people are capable of being in long-twrm monogamous relationships. Don't know about "forever" relationships, but serial monogamy? Sure, why not?

I think it's easy if you love the one you're with. In my last relationship, during its final days, I couldn't keep my eyes in my head if I glued them in. That's when I decided to break it off.
I also suffer from FOMO so before falling in love with someone, my eyes still wander.

I dont really put much weight in their number of sexual partners unless it gets above 10. Then I'm pretty hesitant

I guess it's possible for someone to go hogwild in their younger years and then be strictly monogamous later, but it just shows a lack of respect for themselves imo and I'll take that into account thinking about the long term

I've slept with 1 guy. My BF has slept with 2 girls. Anything above 3 to me sends alarm bells off. I don't want some nasty dude.

Promiscuity, done safely and respectfully, is just so much bloody effort. I'm in a long-term monogamous relationship now and am fine with it. I miss kissing new people more than I miss fucking them, tbh.

How old are you? I only ask since saying any guy who has had more than 3 sex partners is nasty is a little extreme. I would think it very normal for a man in his twenties or thirties to have slept with at least three women before I met him. Those could've all been very loving, very safe monogamous relationships. (I would also not be concerned if his count was higher. I am 27; most men I date have been fucking for over a decade.)

My first bf was older and was pretty promiscuous in his life, with multiple short term and long term partners. When things got kinda serious between us he was monogamous, so I don't think they're more likely to cheat–that probably depends on the person (and reason for promiscuity). However, because he had been in so many relationships, some of those had ended badly and I think it showed up as emotional baggage time and time again throughout our relationship. At that time I had only had sex once with a different guy a year before going out with him, so I think the gap in our experiences also played a factor.

My current bf is at an experience level similar to mine and I find I prefer that.
