I ordered a package last week that was shopped out on the 5th through USPS. However the last update says "Arrived in USPS Origin Facility" of the state the seller lives in but that was on the 5th. It was scheduled for delivery on the 8th, but didn't come ugh
The problem is that I'm running on a strict deadline, and I'm going to be leaving in a few days.
Has anyone experienced this?

Some of their facilities can't seem to stay on top of scanning packages. I don't know much about the specifics of how and when things get scanned so I couldn't tell you why it happens. There have also been times when the tracking info for something wasn't even valid/viewable until long after I received it. The thing that fucks me up about them not updating the tracking page, is that when they have legitimate delays due to weather or high volume, I'm not being informed of this. As for it being late, priority mail and first class delivery dates are not guaranteed. I think (?) only priority express is guaranteed. I've had plenty of priority packages come a day late, rarely 2-3 days late. I've never encountered weather delays so I hope that's not the problem here.

If you're too antsy to wait and see, getting the seller to contact USPS would be ideal. If not, you could do it yourself. There's not much USPS can tell you if the package has left the facility and it hasn't been scanned, but in the case that it is actually sitting at that facility, they might know why.

I assume that it will show up today, but who knows. Fingers crossed.

They might still be on the tail end of their holiday rush too, though a very late tail end with things way off-schedule.

Like the previous anon said, maybe they're just not on top of scanning. For a little while there was a local USPS employee who would scan all packages as delivered any given morning before starting his route. When they were delivered to wrong addresses (too often, sadly) it was maddening.

Hope you get your stuff.

USPS in my experience is 50/50
Sometimes they're alright, other times it takes 2 weeks to leave the damn sorting facility. Seriously.
