There are tons of normal pet owners, but people who make their whole identity how much they like a species they own and talk about it nonstop and collect dozens of items with that species on it are usually weird in some way and often selfish and unempathetic. I was a dog walker growing up and I had several clients whose whole personality was how much they "LOVED" dogs but they treated their dogs like absolute shit, kept them locked in small cages or in a kitchen for 10+ hours a day every day, never played with them or walked the dogs themselves, etc. With both cat people and dog people if they seem TOO obsessed with the animals chances are they're a collector who views them like stuffed animals or funko pops.

I own a black cat and I've given her nothing than love, but I'm frankly tired of her. She broke so many things, and always sits on fresh newly washed clothes. I love cats. I just got a new cat recently who's only 8 months so shes really playful. Shes cute and all but goddamit shes annoying as fuck when she isnt sleeping.

I have two adopted old cats. They don't even act or seem old. One of them is an angel and the other one turned evil a few months in. I would never give him away. He likes to piss on things sometimes when he's mad. He always has a clean tray and just does it now and then for no reason. I've spent hundreds on carpet cleaning for this damn cat. No idea why he hates me.
