Finished it entirely the other night. It was good but I feel like I expected more considering the good ratings and apparent 10/10 Steam rating, I don't know what exactly though. Maybe it's just me but it didn't pack as big of a punch as I thought it should. It reminded me a little of the Wolf Among Us but I found TWAU to be way more intense and interesting and it stayed with me for days looking up theories and shit.
With that said, I still liked it.
Spoilers: Which ending did you choose? I personally was selfish and chose to let Arcadia Bay get fucked to keep Chloe. Though I did go back and choose to sacrifice her straight after, to see what would happen. I think that's supposed to be the 'correct' choice. But I dunno. I still wasn't satisfied with it that choice.

It's such a great game. I loved it and people who don't play it just because of the slang are arrogant. It's easy to look over such a small part of the dialogue.

I teared up at some parts. I honestly wasn't expecting a lot of the things that happened in the story.

I also feel like Max's twee hipster style was outdated despite the game being set in 2013. All the deer, the polaroids, the sketch art style in her diary, drawing hipster glasses, monocles and moustaches on animals. I dunno, just felt a bit lame to me.
I like how real the game was though. They didn't hold back on shit that might often be seen as too far or offensive/shocking.

I finished playing it. I really like games where you find clues/question people to find out the story (you know, phoenix wright, LA Noire) and I also watch degrassi for guilty pleasure so I love stupid teen problems.
I think chapter 4 was definitely the best chapter.
Chapter 5 was cool but it was kind of predictable and did not really explain everything, and felt a little lame with Mr. Jefferson pretty much monolguing what happened instead of us getting figure it out/discover it.

Actually I've been waiting for a thread about Lis, because I used to go on the reddit between chapters to feed the hype, but of course it's attracted the most tumblr EX DEE of autismos. There was also this faggot-ass thoery crafter 'Geekremix' who basically thought she was the lord jesus christ of LiS theories (along with her gf of course) & had a bitch fit about people sending her spoilers or something.
They were fucking retarded.

I really enjoyed the first 4 episodes (though they were admittedly cringe-worthy at times), but the last episode just felt really out of place to me.
The whole 'choices have consequences' thing lead me to believe that we would be getting closure for all the side characters' stories as well as with Chloe and Max, but the final episode was just all over the place and hardly ever where I would have liked it to be.

tbh, I think the game would have been better and still could have had just as powerful of a story (if not more so) without the whole storm thing.

Speaking of LiS, are any of you familiar with Geek Remix? I've considered making a thread about them (specifically Mari) in /snow/ but I wasn't sure if they were relevant enough for anyone to be interested.

I played it. It was okay. It really was "Shitty High School Teen Drama: The Game", but I enjoy things like that. I didn't care for Chloe, though. She seemed like a total jackass and I just wanted her to stay dead. It frustrated me that the whole story revolved around her.

The only character I gave a shit about was Mr. Jefferson because I'm a deranged pervert. The endings sucked balls, but episode 5 turned me on.

I don't understand why they made Chloe so fucking unlikeable. She was seriously such a brat for a majority of the game and acted like a cunt to Max/her mom/step-dad/etc. when it was totally unnecessary.
Like how she got pissed and didn't want you to answer the phonecall from Kate. Why? Just because she'd have to wait for less than a minute? I mean, fuck. No actual friend would get pissy about that.
It's stupid because they want you to be torn when making the ultimate decision in the end but it's dulled down since she acted like an asshole throughout most of the game.

The cringey dialogue didn't bother me until the last two episodes. And it was always something coming out of chloes mouth. sometimes teens use dumb slang, but not that much.

i think the two endings are bullshit and im underwhelmed with the climax. the entire last episode was boring.

and the music was shit.

I really did hate the overused slang. I managed to get past it but it was challenging sometimes. With Chloe saying "hella" and Max saying "wowser" all the time it got out of hand. Who the hell says "wowser", anyway? I've heard HS kids using "hella" here as late as 2013 so I can kinda get it, but the rest of the slang included was so jarring to me.

Also some of the voice acting for minor characters was trash. I'm thinking of Alyssa and Daniel, specifically. I couldn't believe what I was hearing sometimes cuz it sounded so cartoony.

I agree. I can understand her having a bit of a bratty personality, but especially the phone call with Kate seemed like a bit of a stretch. I feel like they probably created her that way to put more pressure on the player when making decisions, but it's a bit of a double-edged sword because on the one hand you know your supposed bff is going to be pissy if you don't cater to her, but on the other it doesn't really paint her in the best light as a friend.

imho it was a little touching to hear her admit she'd been acting like a whiny bitch and recognize that Max had been trying to help her at the end.

Honestly, I loved the game right until the very last episode and the last choice. It was so fucking lame. Why did I spend all this damn time playing the game and thinking about decisions if it all went to shit in EP 5 anyway?! Seriously, have the game developers not paused for a minute and thoght to themselves "Hm, maybe we should make all the decisions of the first four episodes matter in the end??" Nah, it's more conevnient to have a safe, uncomplicated ending where either everyone dies or you let Chloe die and undo all your previous choices.

Honestly I just cancelled out the ending of EP. 5 and continue to think about other more darker endings where my choices actually matter. To speak in tumblrspeak, I like my headcanon hella lot better than the lazy crap the developers came up with.

I agree. At first it was like "whoa, this is weird" and then it was like "okay, when exactly is this going to end?" I think they took advantage of it and tried to use it as a filler as much as they could. It did just lose it's edge though, at first it was interesting and then it got boring.
