There are a ton that have the same plot. You really need to look at the non-romance based ones to find something more interesting. I prefer historical dramas myself. Some recommendations (not all historical) I'd make are:
The Great Queen Seondeok
God's Gift 14 Days
The Moon Embracing the Sun
A Gentlemen's Dignity

Also, you should check out actual Korean movies too. I think you'll find some really great ones that don't have the boring k drama format.

If you want something without all the clichés, I recommend ''Heartless city'' .. there is not a lot of focus is not on romance , even though the main characters have really good chemistry (and an actual sex-scene).

Also the cinematography is beautiful, the soundtrack is beautiful and you see one of the best bromances.

I never really felt it got the recognition it deserved.

This. Aside from the very few jdramas I've seen that are mainly all male cast, there's always just a women in there for romantic reasons only or just as a background object. Kdramas are 100% worse.

I liked Heartstrings. It's kind of dumb where the girl loses a bet to the guy and becomes his 'slave' for a month, and blah blah blah, they fall in love, etc. It's cute and I only started for a short scene in the first episode where one of the boys in the band says "Wait, am I that easy?!" when he tells his bandmates that he's fallen in love (and they assume the girl bought him food). Nonetheless, I really like it and the music is good imo. Like, two members of CN Blue are in it.

Another one I started but never finished is She is Wow. It's weird and I'm not really sure how to describe the plot, but all you really need to know is that it's ridiculous and hilarious (it is for me at least). I should actually go finish it soon lol. Jinyoung from B1A4 stars in it (which was originally why I started it lol)

I hear Reply 1994 and Reply 1997 are really good too.

Also, this isn't a Kdrama, but the kmovie 'Sunny' is one of my all time favorites. There are some hilarious scenes where they poke fun at how repetitive kdramas are, but the overall plot and movie is great. 10/10 please do watch it if you can.
