I don't attend the college that he was going to shoot up, but I do attend the university, and it really does remind you and make you more alert in regards to your own mortality.

Even stuff like being safe at home, in my uni accommodation. Last year at a different uni there was a break-in where 4 guys, likely to be rugby players or something similar given their size and build (potentially other students), managed to slip into an accommodation block at around 3:0-4:00 in the morning and went around checking every door until they came across one that was unlocked.
They crept into the room where a student was sleeping, pinned him down and basically said "look mate, don't try to yell or ought cause it'll only cause trouble for you. We're just here to take your stuff and then we'll leave. Oh and once we're done don't think about calling the police; we know where you live and what you look like", and then one of them sat on the poor guy whilst the other 3 basically stripped his room.

I can't imagine that it's too much of a stretch to think that if it happened to me or another female that they'd be tempted to "have a bit of fun" before they left, and for that reason I keep a sheathed hunting knife down the side of my mattress.

Here's something I noticed as a black woman, it feels like society thinks you can never have fun. Everything I do has to be complicated and questioned, from the music I like to the men I date. Even black people will get made at me because I'm not living in reality and not focusing on the struggles of black people, like, for example there was this black celebrity who said she had no problems getting dates and everyone was all like "OMG YOU ARE IN DENIAL ABOUT WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE A BLACK WOMAN IN SOCIETY", just because she's black doesn't mean she has to be a sad and miserable bitch. uGh and don't even get me started on Hollywood, I'd really love to see some fun romantic comedies with black women but nope, every movie where black women are the main characters it's always some depressing ass shit that talks about how much our lives suck. Then there's interracial dating(my preference is white or Asian) I never had much of a problem getting dates but it comes with all kinds of complications, I can't just be like some careless weeaboos blonde sucking Asian cocks left and right because I got black people telling me I'm a "sell out" or the guys parents want to disown him and have a bitch fit because he's with me. like, a white girl can pretty much date any race and the guys parents will accept them with open fucking arms. Asian guys- very self absorbed and only care about their studies and live but expect you to drop everything you are doing to pay attention to them. Basically, go away when they're busy but always be there when they want you to be.
