as far as the age gap goes, florida has romeo and juliet laws. i don't approve of them in older male/young female relationships, and i certainly don't approve of this, but i was in a relationship at 16 with a 19 yo and that was completely legal in fl, and afaik, as long as it was within the 4 year thing, it wouldn't be illegal for something like 15 and 18, so i don't understand what the deal is with this? he did have the intent to 'kidnap' the child by definition though, and i don't approve of him deliberately going out of his way to be with a younger girl. imo, no young males older than like, 2 years should be allowed to be with younger girls, and it should be illegal for adult older male/younger female 6+ year gaps. older male/younger female shit, even at like, 37, is always poison.

In Austria they report that he asked for confirmation about her being of legal age (i.e. 16 yrs) and that she sent a fake birth certificate. I.e. he was led to believe that it was okay. (His parents would not have supported him meeting her otherwise.)
