Here's ten fun facts about Palestine to get us started. Picrel is mosaic art from ancient Jericho.
1. Jericho is one of the oldest cities in the world.
Archaeologists date it back over 11,000 years. It’s seen empires rise and fall, but people never stopped living there.
2. Dabke isn’t just a dance — it’s a heartbeat.
It’s danced at weddings, protests, and village gatherings. Stomping in rhythm together becomes a way of saying: we are still here.
3. Traditional Palestinian embroidery (tatreez) is like a stitched language.
Every village had its own patterns and motifs. Women passed them down through generations — wearable memory, political quietude.
4. The watermelon became a symbol of the flag.
During times when the Palestinian flag was banned, people used watermelon (red, green, black, and white) as a stand-in. Subtle resistance through fruit.
5. Some Palestinian olive trees are older than the Roman Empire.
There are groves that have been tended for over 2,000 years. Families care for them like living ancestors.
6. The ruins of Sebastia are a living mosaic of civilizations.
Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic layers all in one village near Nablus. You can walk through literal centuries.
7. The oud is the soul of Palestinian music.
Artists like Le Trio Joubran have brought this ancient string instrument to global stages. It speaks in both sorrow and celebration.
8. Nablus has been making olive oil soap for over a thousand years.
Just olive oil, water, and lye — no additives, no shortcuts. Entire families have built their lives around this quiet art.
9. Palestinian homes once had red-tiled roofs and stone courtyards.
Designed for shade, gatherings, and family life. The architecture itself held space for community.
10. The hakawati — or oral storyteller — was once the village archive.
Before books were common, stories were passed on aloud. That tradition still echoes in Palestinian poetry, theatre, and protest chants.

Also on the topic of everyday life, in my time organizing for Palestine I met a Palestinian and we became friends for a couple days while helping him with posters and protests and etc. He sold keffiyahs to raise us money. He said they were sourced in Lebanon, and made a joke about how Lebanon and Palestine are like cousins, even though Lebanon pretends to be very different and greater than its neighboring country.
He was a very sweet and interesting person. He made me realize how little I know about the middle east, and what I do know comes from news or articles, not really people and their own words and experiences. I talked about my own country of origin to him and we related a lot (my country is also occupied by an imperialist state). I love Palestine, I love Palestinians. Beautiful culture and people. Also Jesus was Palestinian-Jewish and I love him a lot, I wouldn't say I believe in god I just think he was a really good guy.

>>2615657Nta but if you're going to play that game then explain literally everything Israel has done since October 7th, from shooting hundreds of rounds at a vehicle they knew only a six year old girl was in, to firing on civilians trying to get aid, to raping prisoners of war with hot metal rods, to every other actual war crime you've been inflicting on civilians. No wonder the Palestinians fucking hate you, I would too.
And don't pretend that Israel is a beacon of women's rights when they let any pedo moid charged abroad in as long as he's Jewish, when there's an epidemic of women being sexually assaulted by moid soldiers in the IDF, and when IDF moids are posting pictures of themselves with lingerie and jewellery they found in displaced Palestinian women's homes.

As an Israeli, I do believe that Palestine is a thing I just don't think that after their actions in October 7th they deserve a country. Like that's such a small punishment for the stuff they've done. And yeah I'm the OP from the Israeli thread. Also I just hate hamas. But if Palestinians were willing to cooperate and not support hamas then I'm willing to help them. But ofc you made this post out of spite, don't cha? Like ofc you've done it to screech about how Israel is evil and shit, but I at the very least hope you're just confused and not ill intending. Anyways you can criticise Israel for whatever you wanna just make good argument that's all I'm asking
>>2615626Ok you're retarded, like do you even know just how much Islam hates women? I know judaism also hates women but with Islam it's way worse than that. I really hope you're not a bait
>>2615619Hamas is literally commiting genocide just very unsuccessful one because they're somehow more incompetent than the Israeli government. And yeah zionism and Jews are connected because what I learned in school is that zionism is the ideology to return Jews back to the land of Israel which is their homeland. Yeah it's a bit biased definition but that's what school taught me and that's what I know. I know school isn't the best source but it's definitely better than gazan media that's for sure
Anyways I hope y'all find better stuff than hating on Jews. And hope /pol/ will fuck off here

>>2615706So again, what does Islam hating women have to do with my friend and I organizing to help the people in Palestine who are starving and being murdered in cold blood. I don't care that Judaism hates women because everyone and everything in this world hates women.
>after their actions in Oct 7th they don't deserve a country, [genocide] is such a small punishment for what they've doneI think you felt this way about Palestinians even before Oct. 7 and are happy to have an excuse for your government to rip them to shreds.
>Hamas is literally commiting genocide just very unsuccessful onekek so they aren't commiting genocide?
>Yeah it's a bit biased definition but that's what school taught me and that's what I knowI'm actually quite sad for you. I think your instinct tells you something is wrong which is why you feel the need to justify Israel to everyone (making threads on otherwise apolitical IBs).

>Israel offered to allow 100,000 refugees to return on the basis of humanitarian considerations or family reunification. All other refugees would be resettled in their present places of residents, the Palestinian state, or in third-party countries, with Israel contributing $30 billion to fund their resettlement.Unfortunately, they tried this with palestinians. A group so notoriously unstable and religiously violent, they aren't welcome in most surrounding countries anymore. Countless other cultures and entire countries have resettled peacefully but the palistinians are a barbaric backwards people and were never interested in that
