>>256556that's actually depressing as fuck, jesus. this is why we shouldn't encourage ana chan thinking and posters ever. wish her the best.
how old is she? has your mom ever talked about it? it sounds fucked, if i got treated by that i'd feel super sad and awkward tbh no eye contact.
No. 256592
>>256591She’s middle aged. My mum actually doesn’t like her but she has three sons she was passing her Ana habits on too so my mum stuck around for them. She would feed them and try to undo the damage their mum was doing. They moved in with their paternal grandmother and had a growth spurt. They’re all healthy now, so my Mum took a step back on the friendship. She’s too old to be helped unless she seeks it for herself. Not to mention the lack of food makes her an emotional, exhausted mess, and all she talks about is excercise and her job. And she’s knowledgable about health (considering her job, she should be) that there’s nothing anyone can say that she doesn’t already know. I’m pretty sure she’s using her knowledge to keep herself on the brink of death, but not actually dead.
I can’t imagine what patients must think. It’d be like going to a dentist with bad teeth.

Maybe it's just me but I grew up with really obese doctors and somewhat questionable nurses.
I mean they are just people giving advice at the end of the day. Anyone could learn what they do if they go to school and pay the money, it doesn't mean they're going to clean up their own house ya know what I'm saying?

>>256575Are you a grown adult nurse trying to convince us you're the best things in the world by using the term "haters"?
Also don't get me wrong, the job of being an RN is really difficult and not everyone could do it without quitting or getting fired. It takes hard work and is quite intense and nurses really deserve more appreciation as many people will disregard them, but saying that nurses are "smart, cute, and perfect" is just really cringy and it doesn't sound like the type of thing an actual proper, mature nurse would say.
Also, given the fact that anyone can become a nurse (sorry, but that program is so easy, and all you need is your one bachelor degree to do it) and people who can't get into med or pre-med do it as well as people who can't figure out what to do (and that's not going into nurse practitioners who don't even go to university but do a two year college degree) means that the workforce is filled with people who are not exactly the best people in the world for the job. These people don't stay long and typically aren't given the best or most important tasks but from a patient's point of view it can utterly ruin a hospital experience which isn't fun to begin with. Working in a long-term care hospital I've had so many patients hate and feel neglected by the nurses. Part of the problem was that they were understaffed but a lot of the nurses were lazy and didn't care for the patients and the trend was that nurse practitioners were the worst and most rude which is likely due to how they got there. On the other side of the coin though, the "rude" abrassiveness of many nurses is common but it isn't them being rude or trying to be, it's just their efficiency working overtime which does usually ignore typical social graces but that's to be expected and patients should realise that a nurse isn't your mother and isn't there to comfort you. They're here to help you and the doctor so you can be fixed as soon as possible. Also they have no time for your flirting. Literally and figuratively

A lot of people act dumb in high school though, it doesn't mean they won't grow out of it.

>>256639UKfag I find care workers to be the worst. Loads of druggies from my highschool work in care now and they cant even look after themselves.
I use to live next to this care workers ex husband. She had a kid and he would play in my garden when his grandad was out doing his gardening, she accused me of being a pedophile because I didn't tell her son to fuck off out of my garden with no fence while his grandparent was 2 feet away from him.
I study biology and I will never endeavour to work with patients, I already worked 5 years in customer service. No thanks.

I've met amazingly nice nurses while I was hospitalized, but also asshole nurses who couldn't give a fuck if I was in pain and trying to get medical help. There seems to be a stark divide between the field, either you're down to earth and super polite or a bitch queen from hell.

Listen I'm not racist and I'll date a attractive and nice man regardless of his skin color, but I'm kinda wary of black men because of personal experiences.
like this recent encounter,I was at a bus stop in the scorching heat(to go get groceries), where a fat black man shuffled up next to me, and then began to mumble-blurt out some sexual fantasy or another. When i finally understood that the lewd mental scenario was involving me, my stomach did a full 540' twist, and i had a bad case of heartburn for the rest of the day. I repeatedly turned him down, and as expected, he turned surly and spouted that i was just scared of black cock, as he shuffled along to elsewhere.

>>410923This, 100%. I feel like the people praising nurses are either nurses themselves or have had very limited interaction.
As you've said, it's largely case-by-case. Worse than hospital nurses though are assisted living staff and home care nurses. All foreigners who could care less.
No. 411000
>>410976That's a stupid comparison though because of how it's literally a trope to call politicians slimy and bad. You say the same about nurses and you get attacked because "omg they work so hard! they sacrifice so much!"
Yes, they have long hours and I am sure the pay isn't good. But literally a few extra years of schooling will make a major difference in that. An entry-level nursing position is exactly the same level of skill as a machine technician in a large factory. That's why they get paid respectively the same and have similar hours.
I feel the same way about Police and people in the military. "Omg they're putting their lives on the line! So brave!" No one is conscripted nowadays. It was a choice, and a lucrative choice at that considering the early retirement and helpful benefits.

>>411043The nursing facilities I've visited for my job have a staff ratio of about 3:1 foreign to non-foreign. I'm sure it's not this way in all aspects of the country, but that's the way it is locally.
Not saying they are intrinsically worse because of their foreignness, but many of them have a very obvious disconnect from the job and therefor from the patients, too. Not to mention the communication issues.

>>413036i work as an RN and i hate it. every unit is understaffed, you're constantly overworked. it's very difficult when hospitals prioritize profit and customer service over actually taking care of the patients. if they want better customer service and review, why understaff every single unit? how much work can one person do in a single shift? it seems like everyone i work with is burnt out, and that's why they're rude to others. btw, the thing about nurses eating their young is so true, i've cried so many times during my clinicals and at work.
>>256739california is probably THE BEST PLACE in the world to work as a nurse. i've never heard nurses from california complain. they have mandated patient-nurse ratios, and they're paid extremely well, even when you consider california's COL. all i hear from nurses in california is "i own a tesla, i have no debt, i take 3 vacations a year, and i'm about to buy a beautiful house. i work at a med-surg unit and only have 4 patients per shift, and i always get my breaks." while if you work as a nurse in toronto or vancouver or nyc…. you're probably going to need roommates and you'll probably live somewhere shitty. because you're not getting paid that much and the ratios will make you cry. i want to work in california once i get more experience.
