On April 5 the fashion website Polyvore shut down without any notice and was instantly replaced with an overpriced fashion shop who wants to collect the data of the former 28 million big user base.

Did any of you use it? It was a really great way to find inspiration for outfits but also other creative fields. Man, RIP Polyvore. I'm so sad. They didn't even offer to save your sets and don't reply to emails.

According to this https://fashionista.com/2018/04/ssense-acquires-polyvore-ends-operations users have until May 10 to request to download their sets and until May 15 to download them. So it’s something but hopefully the reason they’re not responding is because they have too many emails from the takeover (their own fault of course) and will get around to replying to everyone especially regarding their data downloads.

Yes, I found the website for it after searching for a bit (also where you can opt out): account-update.polyvore.com
However, you can only download your sets in .jpg format, literally everything else is in useless .csv data.

So basically, if you didn't actively search for it, you'd have no knowledge of your data being used by another company and this didn't know about the opt-out website. Isn't this illegal?

That’s crap that the data formats are so limited, but I suppose it’s better than nothing at this stage. I’ve no idea of the legality of it, but the only info SSense will get is username, Polyvore email address and email preferences that you had set on polyvore unless you opt out by May 15th. They really should be linking to the opt-out/Data download website links, but I seems that Ssense only really want Polyvore’s user data/audience to sell to as they have no intention of bringing Polyvore back so Polyvore don’t seem to be promoting these links in their PR releases because (in my view) doing so means less money for them as Ssense won’t have said user access if everyone knows where to download their data and opt out. They’ve probably found a legal loophole that allows them to do this.

Does anyone know a good replacement site?
Google suggests shoplook and urstyle but I have no idea what to use.
I'd prefer one that also has an app for mobile use.

Why did those retards shut down without a notice and sell the site to idiots who in turn sell overpriced garbage? Anyone have any info/ideas?

I use the Pureple app for listing and keeping track of clothes/accessories/cosmetics I use but the outfit creation function is completely worthless. It’s far too small to fit a full outfit. You’re lucky if you can fit a dress and shoes in the same frame. In conclusion, I only use it to keep track of stuff I already own or have on a wishlist and sometimes get ideas while I scroll down.

I didn’t hear about the shutdown until after it had already totally closed. That was a sad day.

Now I use the app StyleBook. It lets you log your own closet and remove the backgrounds of all the images, unlike many other closet organizers. Plus I loaded a ton of png filler and text into the inspiration tab so I can add them to outfits like it’s Polyvore. The only complaints I have with the app is you can’t rotate items, only resize them, and you can’t title them. Other than that, I love it and it satisfies my Polyvore needs entirely. It doesn’t have the social aspects, of course, since it’s just your own closet, but I never got into the community anyway, so I love it as is.

shit, does anybody else remember svpply? it was my favorite organizing site especially for clothing and household items. ten times better than polyvore and pinterest. it was so neat, too. i remember going to polyvore when svpply shut down. it was fun, but missing something.
now that polyvore is gone, i really don't wanna go to pinterest, it's so cluttered.

The more you use Pinterest, the better it gets tbh. It’s pretty good at showing you what you like. I have the widget or whatever so when Im anywhere online and see something I like, I just push a button and it goes to my board. And then it shows me what other boards have the same picture so I can take a look at them.

I set up pinterest to import all my likes and sets into a board a while ago, so I have my stuff.
I miss polyvore though, you could find stuff with a lot of different ~aesthetics~ that are annoying to search. I didn't make too many sets though.

Anymore suggestions for similar sites? I never used Polyvore and it's unfortunate that it's no longer around because I'm in need of something that will help me figure out my wardrobe. I want to look at other peoples wardrobes that they put together (like pic related but with descriptions/tags with links to what each item is/where2cop) so I can get an idea of what I want for myself and reorganize and configure my clothing accordingly.

Aww I’ll miss it, I didn’t use it for myself per se, but I’d make outfits to draw for the people in my illustrations to wear when the clothes I drew felt uninspired
