How HOW HOOOOOWWW? I hate makeup. I want to wear it on dates, for special pictures and to events and that's it. Not on a daily basis.

No. 228544

Genetics. You're fucked otherwise.
t. Fucked

No. 228545

Yeah to a certain degree. It's definitely worth having a good skincare routine, but some people can wash with a fucking bar of Dove and put body lotion on their face and look great.

I don't know if it'll make you feel any better but the girl in the pic definitely has something done to her lips so that ain't natural, to start. Oftentimes I see people who look like they have flawless skin and they're just wearing very natural makeup.

No. 228548

>>228543
The girl on this picture IS wearing makeup. Eyeliner, eyebrows, contour, highlighter.. And those lips are not natural.

No. 228553

Sure, she's pretty if you like beady eyes, bulbous clown noses, and puckered anus lips.

No. 228575

First off, the girl in your pic has makeup on. Second, it's mostly genetics but you can enhance what you have by wearing an spf moisturizer every day, keeping your eyebrows trimmed and tidy, eating well, getting good sleep, and exfoliating when you need to. People who are happy and healthy have a kind of glow.

No. 228578

My best tips:
Tint your brows/lashes
Curl your lashes
Use vasaline (lightly) where you would use highlighter
Groom / trim / pluck your brows
Use sunscreen daily
Take vitamins (fish oil, vitamin d, and vitamin c are my favorites)
Drink water
Eat healthy
Work out (or at least do yoga)
De stress as much as possible
Develop a skincare routine that focuses on your own skin needs
Use a retinol product
Wear earrings (preferably silver or gold, just something that reflects light)
Keep your hair nice
Wear flattering clothing

No. 228580

>>228578
Oh, also keep your nails done. At the end of the day how healthy you are can heavily effect how you look. Stress has been proven to age people and poor lifestyle choices are going to age you more than genetics would. Just try to be happy and healthy.

I second this. The only way to look good without makeup is to look healthy and well-groomed. Hell, even WITH makeup doesn’t look best on an unhealthy untidy face. If the cake is rubbish icing won’t save it!

>keep nails and brows neat

>get a simple but effective skincare routine and eat a nutritious diet for glowing skin
>keep hair clean and maintained (if dyed top up regularly, split ends trimmed off, treatments if needed, etc)
>look after teeth
>drink water, don’t stress, and get enough sleep

Everything else is optional extras - like getting your nails painted, getting lash/hair extensions, wearing stylish clothes, or wearing makeup.

No. 228636

>>228578
Came here to talk about keeping hair nice + earrings. It makes you look more put together.

Also getting plenty of sleep! If there’s one thing to do nice for your appearance, please don’t stay up late on your computer. You will look so much healthier getting to bed at a decent hour.

No. 228640

I've noticed that just exfoliating my skin once every week helps perk me up along with making my face appear healthier while I'm not wearing makeup (which I don't do often anyway). It may be common sense to others to do this but honestly my depressed ass had no clue of the actual benefits of it until a couple years ago.

I personally like to use a coffee scrub since it smells really good. I also fucking love coffee. While I moisturize my face after washing it, I do some minimal face massages (mostly on my jaw/chin area). Feels good and is also very therapeutic.

Also pluck/shape your eyebrows. Shit makes such a big difference and it always amazes me.

No. 228700

if the girl in op is really somehow not wearing any makeup, then she has very dark lashes and thick dark eyebrows on top of nice facial proportions, so either be born with that, learn to like your sparse, invisible brows and lashes, or put on a little makeup when you want that particular look. not even a makeup is empowerment type of person just….you can't have your cake and eat it too man. if the only no-makeup look you like is….the exact look makeup tries to replicate, you're gonna need to either rewire your preferences or just wear the makeup.

No. 228702

This girl is wearing a full face of makeup.
You can very clearly see her highlight under the tail of her eyebrows.

If you want to look good without makeup you can look into microblading for you eyebrows, plastic surgery for things you absolutely can't change and skin care so you don't have to wear foundation.

Stay slender, take good care of you hair, always have you nails done. Be well dressed.

No. 228758

Lash extensions is the most effective. But very expensive..

No. 228775

I think that generally speaking, thick eyebrows make you look instantly better without makeup. It's like they fill the face so that you don't look too bland. If you have the luck to have naturally thick dark eyebrows, take care of them and keep them thick. If you don't, consider investing in microblading.

No. 256273

Real talk:

-Asian Beauty routine. Start researching now and figure out the right product stack to get really glowy, smooth skin. It's possible but you need to find the right fit for your skin. I recommend products by the Ordinary (the company owner is a lolcow himself but the products are cheap and great)
- Microblading. Save up and find a reputable artist to get your eyebrows filled in. That's how you get eyebrows like the girl in the OP picture. If you have naturally super thicc brows, get them professionally groomed.
-Lash lift/tint. One of the best, most cost effective beauty procedures imo is a lash lift. For about $70 you get almost 2 months of fully, curled, darker lashes that look gorgeous. I hate extensions, I think they look trashy and ruin your natural lashes, lifts don't harm them at all.
- Eating lot's of fruits, veggies and drinking lots of water. Limit sugar and processed fats (but eat plenty of healthy fat)
- Take a collagen supplement
-regularly exfoliate and moisturize your lips. i slather Burt's Bees baby balm on my face every night, followed by Laniege lip mask a few times a week.

I personally hate wearing makeup so I go to great lengths to look "put together" without makeup.

No. 256284

I rarely wear much makeup. I look alright.

Some tips:

-Accept your imperfections. You will go straight for the makeup if you don't.
-Groom your eyebrows! Whatever needs to be done, do that. Don't overpluck them and find a style that fits your face.
-Wear sunscreen
-Wash your face regularly with a good facial soap or cleanser
-Keep your face moisturized, and not oily
-Depending on skin type, use other topicals as needed (I have acne, so I use medications, and for dryness, I use petroleum jelly, cortizone as needed, argan oil, eye cream, etc.)
-Drink plenty of fluids as needed, eat well, and make sure you aren't deficient in any vitamins/nutrients
-Try to just feel decent/happy in general, and I promise it'll show in your face

OT but also, I'm pretty sure OP pic's eyebrows are filled in, and she may be wearing mascara. It's totally possible she is barefaced, but camera and lighting do a lot for your face too. My looks are similar to hers, and tbh it's all angles, having a good skin day, and making sure the camera isn't high-def enough to pick out my flaws…

i've got super sensitive skin (and rosacea), but i've been able to start going outside without makeup since starting this routine:
-glycerin soap
-raw honey (w/ comb is best) every 3 or so days for exfoliating
-rose water after shower
-rose hip oil every day or two

just put lots of vitamins on your face and it'll heal, basically.

Honey and bee propolis products are a godsend. I highly recommend pic related, it will moisturize the fuck out of your face, brighten your skin, help clear up acne due to its natural antibacterial quality, and make your face feel soft and plush as a baby's ass. I barely need to use foundation anymore because my natural complexion is looking so much better and brighter.

I've also heard amazing things about the Cosrx rice spa overnight mask and I will be trying that one next.

I know women far up in their 50s that look pretty without makeup or just a little mascara, because they have a certain glow and confidence that no makeup can give.

But no, if we talk in society's standards for beauty, I think most people lose it rather quickly.

I honestly think that it's sometimes better to accept that you'll never be as physically beautiful as the people whose beauty you envy. The world is full of people who don't give a damn about what you look like as long as you're not a shallow asshole yourself (and have proper hygiene). People like that will think you're pretty because of who you are, not what's on your face.

I used to roll my eyes at people who go about preaching how "everyone is beautiful", but I find them a lot more enjoyable to be with than with someone I know is staring at my lack of a proper jawline and thinks it gives them an excuse to see me as lesser than them.

Stop keeping a mental list of all your perceived flaws. No amount of product is going to cure your insecurity. There isn't an age limit to attractiveness.

I apologize for choosing your post to call this out, but I'm so sick of reading stuff like this on here. I realize a lot of you are really young and really stupid, but the level of importance some of you put towards appearance is just sad. Everyone has flaws, everyone ages, and no one notices that shit about your face other than you. There are more important things than being "pretty," sincerely. Think about the last time you made yourself proud and be fucking nicer to yourself.

Let me just break this down real quick
>glycerin soap
Hydrating and can come in simple, low-irritant bars
-raw honey (w/ comb is best) every 3 or so days for exfoliating
Honey is anti-bacterial and good for inflammation. The comb will add minimal physical exfoliation.
-rose water after shower
If you buy a legit form, it can hydrate, has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and smells really damn good. While some blogs claim it has Vitamin C and A in significant quantities, I can’t find any legitimate sources which claim the same.
-rose hip oil every day or two
Helps with moisture, aging, etc (but evidence is iffy if it’s any different than just using any other oil)

>dr. jart

>a'pieu milk

https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/product.php?prod_id=493716#.Wxo9ByJlCEc
> LA pure's undereye masks
Has products containing gold as a gimmick (claiming it’s anti-bacterial), could potentially be aging
https://www.medicaldaily.com/gold-skin-products-cause-wrinkles-speed-aging-process-245129
> laneige's lip sleeping mask
Contains vitamin C and anti-oxidants.
>just put lots of vitamins on your face and it'll heal, basically.
The products you mentioned which have Vitamin C are beneficial
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/health-disease/skin-health/vitamin-C
But as you just listed brands or general products such as “glycerin soap,” it’s hard to know exactly what you’re recommending and the vitamin contents.

I advise everybody to always check the ingredients of products, and not just go by brand. Also really really try to get cruelty free alternatives. It’s not that hard. No product is actually a miracle, one of a kind product. There are alternatives that do the exact same thing. Essentially what you’re going for is moisturizing, exfoliating, and low irritant formulas. Different ingredients may offer more or less anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, etc effects. If you have any skin concerns, go to a licensed and trusted dermatologist. Do not use any harsh products or products you may have an allergy to or ones which will make your condition worse. It can be hard to know what those are, so always err on the side of caution.

http://www.leapingbunny.org/guide/brands/list
http://www.safecosmetics.org/get-the-facts/chem-of-concern/

And just because something is expensive, doesn’t mean it is high quality.

Thank you. I have severe BDD (actually diagnosed)… I never stop thinking about my appearance, and as I get older and approach my mid 20s it’s only gotten worse…

I wish I could believe people when they say things like “nobody notices except you”. It might be symptomatic of the BDD and being hyper focused on my own flaws, but I’m constantly making mental notes about the physical flaws of everyone around me. Not in a way that makes me feel better about myself, though.

Wish I could make it stop. I’m sick of feeling so insecure and trapped in my body. Sometimes I think my insecurity about my appearance alone will push me to suicide before I reach 30.

To my fellow muricans, if you want to look youthful for as long as possible, buy some SPF 50 PA++++ Japanese sunscreen and wear it every single day. American sunscreen is decades behind the rest of the world thanks to the FDA. Not only does Japanese sunscreen protect you better from the sun, it is more pleasant to use, which makes you more likely to use it every day. It's not thick and goopy, it has a pleasant water gel texture and won't leave a white mask on your face.

Do research on the best ingredients for your skin before buying. Pic related is highly rated, but it has a high alcohol content and added fragrance, so not good sensitive skin.

No. 257309

>>257304
>won't leave a white mask on your face.
Any chemical sunscreen will do the same. If you don’t like the white mask, avoid physical sunscreens (titanium is usually an ingredient)
>Not only does Japanese sunscreen protect you better from the sun
I’m not sure what you mean by this? SPF is SPF, it’s how much of the sun the product defends you against. SPF 50 products exist in America. And if you’re taking UVA/UVB, just get a sunscreen that is labeled “broad spectrum”

No. 257315

>>257309
I was mainly referring to the FDA's restriction/lack of approval for certain chemicals that have been approved in Asia and other countries (such as bemotrizinol, bisoctrizole, as well as the USA's 3% cap on avobenzone – other countries cap at 5%). These chemicals offer the best protection from UVA/UVB, without leaving a goopy white cast that makes people less likely to wear sunscreen in the first place.

Mineral sunscreens (that use titanium dioxide or zinc oxide) only physically block the sun's rays, and if you don't reapply them every 2 hours (which nobody does unless they're at the beach) they don't protect you at all. A mixture of mineral and chemical protection is best, and Asian and European sunscreens do this better, thanks to their relaxed restrictions on the above listed chemicals. (I didn't bring up European sunscreens in my OP, but they are also ahead of the game ingredients-wise, however they also tend to be way more expensive than Asian ones.)

Of course you should do your own research on whether or not you trust the FDA, whether or not you're comfortable using these chemicals on your face, and research all the ingredients and see if they'll work for you, etc. I'm by no means an expert but I think Asian and European sunscreens are far superior and any American concerned about premature aging should be using them every day.

The bigger issue to me is that she’s clearly wearing makeup and anon thinks she’ naturally looks like this. Blush, highlighter, tightlining, foundation, brow products, lip products, hell it even looks like highlight under her brow. Natural makeup is not the same thing as no makeup. Even the most beautiful women still have skin that looks like skin, still have eye bags and red patches and fine lines no matter how minimized by beauty products and treatments. Foundation does not mimic how skin looks. It’s scary that people, especially women, think made up women are “all natural” when their faces are covered in makeup.

I think the girl in the OP image is cute but in a very strongly 2010s sort of way. Certain facial features and face types go in and out of style and that is the impression I get. Like OP girl definitely isn't ugly but were she born in another era she'd be feeling a different set of insecurities.

For a more classic beauty maybe someone like Grace Kelly or Evelyn Nesbit is a better example

I think it’s just that current beauty standards are more focused on woc than white woman. I’m white and it’s kinda silly to deny that most woc do on average have features like bigger lips/asses/etc than white girls. I know my self esteem has taken a shot from not being thick enough or having big enough lips or w/e for current trends, but I just have to remind myself it’s literally just not in my dna so there’s no point in stressing over it lol. White features have been the standard for beauty (in the us at least) for forever so I can’t find an excuse to be mad about it other than it making me insecure, which wouldn’t be fair imo.

I assume you're a young women like the majority of this board, so how would you have profited from 'white' being the beauty standard until maybe the early 21st century - a time were you weren't even a teen yet? You don't have any kind of privilege because of that, same as young woc nowadays aren't oppressed by e.g. black women being seen as ugly in the 50s.

It's sad that you feel insecure about it, but please don't think that it's just 'fair' because of the past that now woc are 'having their moment' so to speak - they don't really have, since nobody is born looking like an instathot…(and that's a good thing imo)

They all had to live lives where white women were held as the standard of beauty. Why should my personal feelings be more important than theirs? Why should I by default not have to deal with the same challenge? It’s not like white women inheritely deserve to be labeled the standard so I don’t see the huge issue with trends and standards finally catering to woc.
Would I prefer to have lived in a time where my looks would be more lusted after? Totally. Just like every woc who lived before trends came to them for inspiration. Like yes it sucks but what are we supposed to do… yell “that’s our throne, give it back!”?

Even average-looking white women like Jennifer Lawrence get uplifted in media, lol.

Well…considering the majority of people in English speaking countries are white, that’s kind of obvious. Of course there’s going to be more white celebrities than black/Asian/whatever.

>Unironically, does anyone even see white women as "ugly" or less attractive at all?

Some people do. Others find black, Asian or Latina girls unattractive.
Plus, it’s definitely trendy in the media (maybe not the super mainstream outlets, but lots of younger people don’t care about those anyway) to shit on white people right now, so I’m not surprised white girls’ looks would be attacked.

First of, why should your feelings be less important than theirs?
Secondly, do you really think that woc who were oppressed decades ago profit from poc being seen as more attractive nowadays…? No, they don't, they're either old or dead. Same as you didn't profit from whites being held as the standard of beauty before you were even born.
The ones who are profiting from this trend nowadays young Blacks/Latinas - groups that never had to 'suffer' because of how they look, so I don't see how that's justyfied or fair. Because if beauty standards change again in the future, you and I will be too old to profit from it as well, meaning we will spend our youth in a world there the way we look like is not seen as very desireable.
Of course nobody deserves to be labeled better than others, but many woc argue that THEY suffered because of white beauty standards back then - which simply isn't true, it was the older generations - and you're playing directly into their narrative.

White people have been wealthier for a long time, so whatever white people do (including being white) gets associated with being sophisticated and upper class and attractive. There's otherwise nothing inherently attractive about being white, and if in some alternative history universe Africa was the wealthy area of the world, then we'd all be thinking that looking African is the ideal.

As someone who used to work with models ,there isn’t a one look no matter what the media will tell you otherwise. No one looks at a runway model with thin lips and a hook nose with editorial makeup and thinks some average instagram thot looks better then the model cuz “Kylie Jenner lips”.

Your nose/lips/whatever you don’t posses or do isn’t the issue it’s legit your own insecurity. I had a model cry (she was a rookie so I guess it was the pressure) while I was doing her makeup because of her monolids, THE REASON THEY WANTED HER IN THE FIRST PLACE.

If you want to look good without makeup, from a former professional makeup artist. Take care of your goddamn skin for the love of god.
