My baby cat literally thinks I'm it's mom, and most mammals will accept babies that are not their own even if they're a different species
Humans have communally raised children for millennia, in fact it is only in recent times that just the one mother is expected to do all the care for her child. Other women would nurse the baby too and it would be carried around by siblings, relatives and tribesmembers
A disturbing number of women used to die at childbirth, and all those babies that survived were raised by others since their birth
