Do we really know what’s in us? For decades there have been breakout reports and cases of finding dangerous chemicals and harmful materials in our foods that could be contributing to the increase of diseases, cancers, and total degeneration of many modernized civilizations. I’m sure the healthcare, hospice and funeral industry is extremely happy about this!
ITT: we discuss what’s really in our food, water, air, clothing, kitchen supplies, technology, etc and how it affects us and our world

NTA. Nearly all forms of laundry detergents and additives are made from petrochemicals. The first detergents were made from coal tar due to soap shortages in WWI.

it coats fabric in a layer of nasty shit, mechanism of action in picrel, which is not only bad for the longevity of your clothes but also decreases the efficacy of fire retardant fabrics (https://aaas.confex.com/aaas/2015/webprogram/Paper15691.html#:~:text=The%20flame%20resistance%20decreased%20after,after%20washing%20with%20detergent%20only). softeners have also been linked to skin irritation and asthma (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10872633/) in studies done as early as the 80s. there is literally no reason for using them other than people wanting to smell like a bath and body works 24/7, so it's a complete waste of money that also has the potential to make you sick and stain your nice clothes.
an argument could be made that everything is a potential allergen but a lot of ingredients in fabric softener (mainly the fragrances, ironically) are sensitizers which means you may develop allergic reaction after repeated exposure.

softener only makes sense when you wash towels and don't have tumble dryer, because air drying towels can make them really stiff and coarse.
it also makes fabrics smell worse after a time as it builds up in every next wash with it

I don't think seed oils are evil, but I try to avoid them for coconut oil or EVOO anyways. I also wonder if it's worth buying organic only or not.

You should also see what our diet has done to the bones of our face. You'll notice the jaw has gotten smaller, and with the smaller jaw, the teeth have gotten more crowded. This is because we no longer have a tough, fiberous diet to strengthen the muscles from constant chewing. Strong muscles pull on the bones with use, making them larger and thicker. You'll also notice that while men have fewer teeth because of the high sugar diets, women have more. This is because pregnancy causes tooth decay and tooth loss, and although modern women consume far more sugar, they have far fewer pregnancies and far better dental care.

In comparison to modern men, I'm sure they were. There's a reason why moids in old pictures and movies are much more attractive on average. Not only did they groom themselves and take of their appearance far more, but their faces were also better developed.

Hope this is the right thread but these days I've been getting really annoyed with the trend of shitting on people who eat very clean and healthy and organic. I've seen people call mothers who don't give their children junk food abusive and that they will give them eating disorders. That not eating sugar is "too much". There's been so much shit coming out about how bad processed food is for our health, especially in countries with loose food regulations like the U.S. But people think it's more important to be coddled and told that all food is good and that you should eat whatever you crave, even though these foods are literally made to be addicting and as attractive to our taste buds and brain receptors as possible so that we can keep buying more and more and more. But if you point this stuff out you're seen as an "almond mom".
I am nowhere near the point of eating healthy, in fact I consider myself a sugar addict and the extent of my cravings for sugar and the effect that it has on my mental wellbeing honestly scares me and if I have children in the future I will sure as hell make sure that they don't fall victim to food addiction.

I've recently started taking vitamin D and being more strict with taking my multivitamins in general. I'm hoping I see positive effects in terms of my mental health and energy levels.
Iron supplements are another thing I've been considering taking but it's very difficult for me to get them down they honestly taste disgusting. Do any nonnas here take iron supplements, preferably ones that don't have a blood aftertaste?

No. 2171851

Same. I hate how "we shouldn't blame poor people who live in food deserts and have to work 80 hours a week for having unhealthy diets" got warped into "you're a racist classist Whole Foods antivaxx Karen if you think KFC is bad for children." I wish I had been banned from eating refined sugar as a child, it made my health so much worse.

No. 2171886

>>2171831
It's an emotional thing isn't it. The people who know sugar etc. is bad for the body don't want to admit it to themselves. It's hard to confront your own failings and the majority don't have the strength to do it. They feel shamed, but turn that outwards into 'yOu'Re An aLmOnD MoM' raging. You can't engage with them logically until that shame is dealt with.

No. 2171972

That's because 95% of the people "pointing that out" have a raging restrictive ED and will talk about conspiracy shit like how beans (I forgot the specific thing) are actually evil.
Nothing wrong with not wanting to eat ultra-processed food but acting like making your own cookies will cause you to forever be damaged is a bit much.

This makes a lot of sense as to why I get itchy when I used fabric softener cuz I was retarded and thought it was detergent kek, it does make clothes feel weird too.

Giving junk food is abuse and causes eating disorders, so retarded. I think not growing up with soda or junk food was very good for me. It would be for anybody. Drinking sugar is insane, especially if you are a child!

I hate that always feeding your child junk food is obviously a form of abuse, but delusional poorfags and normies would still tell you that you're "overreacting" and being "classist". You wouldn't starve a kid, so why make them regularly eat slop by having McDonald's as 70% of their dinners? I don't even understand why delusional poorfags and normies think it's classist to think fast food shouldn't be regular for children. Wouldn't buying groceries and learning to cook easy dinners actually be cheaper in the long run than getting them Burger King like every night? Fat fucks.

The whole Almond Mom / related trends shitting on people eating healthy seems like cope. People will also bring up anorexia on social media to shut down any discussion of weight or diet, no matter how well meaning. 42% Americans are obese, we should shame people who make children fat.

Fuckers saying that buying groceries and cooking your own food is more expensive in the long run than always getting takeout have seriously got to stop. They're too stupid, fat, and lazy to understand finance and healthy eating, and look where that got America.

its incredible that people still try to debate this, especially with how expensive fast food has gotten! i dont give a fuck how many starbucks points or mcdonalds coupons you use or how efficient eating out is because it saves you time (and somehow money? ok) you dont need to be a chef, veggies are cheap, buy stuff in bulk, take a day to meal and snack prep if you dont have time after work and see how much you save and how much food you get. i also dont understand why they cant prepare quick healthy snacks even? or invest in a rice cooker or at the very least get frozen veggies? they always have an excuse and we all know ones body can NOT feel good running on junk food all of the time.

No. 2172375

>>2172300
People will take the path of least resistance as a whole. Cooking your own food takes some amount of time, effort, and planning, even if it's the same amount of time it takes to drive to Starbucks. For me personally having a freezer and a veggie cutter was a game changer. Cooking might be a dying skill as well even if it's just making a basic soup. Eating healthy can be as simple as rice and beans. But I still think it would be worth it to spend a little more on diet or exercise as opposed to getting health problems. It's really a culture issue

I'm taking iron supplements, the ones that taste nasty. But for me the taste is bearable when I mix them with orange juice. And vitamin C helps to absorb iron, so that's a win win.

vegetables are pretty expensive where I live, but cooking meals at home is still cheaper because this supposedly LCOL state with a federal minimum wage has California tier fast food prices. and that's only skyrocketed in recent years.
