Post practical advice. Can range from laundry secrets to getting the best deals on airline tickets to emergency surgery. I'll start.

Before you do a load of laundry, add a splash of white vinegar to it. This will help get rid of lingering smells on the clothes.

white vinegar is also useful to "lock" the dye in clothing/fabric to keep it from letting out more of it during washing. it's also an excellent window/glass cleaner

Cool threadpic, super groovy!

If you make your food too salty, put some lemon juice or zest in it. The acidity reduces how much sodium we can taste. It probably could also work with vinegar or other acidic foods like tomato.

if youre afraid of ever having to stop somewhere random on the road by yourself because of a flat tire, you can buy Run Flat tires and still be able to drive home or somewhere safe up to 50 miles

Have annoying insect pests? Take cotton balls and put cedarwood essence oil and rub them around your window frames. It repels spiders, moths, ants, you name it. If you can afford it, buy indoor sticky lamp traps, it's a non toxic way to catch everything (perfect if you have pets). Have not had a single fruit fly/moth/mosquito etc in my place for years since doing this and I have my widows wide open all summer long.

When making bread at home you gotta let your oven warm up all the way, and then once it’s reached your desired temperature you leave it running at that heat for another 30 minutes before putting your shaped and scored breads in.

Speaking of cleaning with vinegar, if y'all have lemon or orange peels, or any citrus fruit peels, and some empty mason jars, you can put the peels in with your white vinegar for a week or so and then you cleaning vinegar will have absorbed some of the essential oils from the peel so your cleaning vinegar will smell of citrus fruit.

Don't hesitate to go dollar stores. I've come across so many people who shy away from them because "I don't want to look like I'm poor" (to who? Who's looking? Who cares?), or "I'd rather go to Target because the vibe is better", or other reasons like that. I know they're a bit more expensive now, but they're still great for buying things like cleaning supplies from. When I first moved out, I bought a bunch of cooking supplies from there and they lasted me at least three years because I took good care of them. On the topic of maintaining your cooking supplies, you'll benefit from getting wooden or rubber spatulas. It's pretty obvious when written, but you'll see far less scratching and your pans will last longer.

I know do many basic bitches who refuse to step into a Walmart or dollar store (literally in the same block) because of this. One even said "I don't wanna get robbed!" It's so cringey, but at least I'm vindicated when they ask omg where did you get that and I'm like… the store you refuse to go to at a great price.

white vinegar is great for so many things. if you have a cup or teapot that's stained dark because of tea or coffee, white vinegar will also fix it right up. It also works great to clean kettles.
it's also super cheap and you can use it instead of smelly ass cleaning products for a lot of things

Buy a pack of shower rings and attach them to a clothes hanger to hang all of your camisoles/athletic tops. Saves a huge amount of space in the closet since they can hold two-three tops each.

Inb4 edgelord doomsdayfag but I wanted to share this basic advice but it’s not practical but idk where to put it: stop listening to people who say “nobody will save you” because even you can’t save yourself. Nothing will likely improve and we all probably end up dead in the future, you should just start financially preparing for others in the future. Even if you are childless and you have younger family members you enjoy being around with invest in them, take them out to a park or a mini road trip wherever you want, make them happy for the time we have left. Stop feeling guilty about drinking alcohol, stop feeling guilty over doing drugs, just invest money into the other generation if there will ever be one. I guess to fulfill the actual practical advice requirement for this thread just start clicking those three lines or three dots under videos/images and click “do not recommend/don’t show me this” something around these words and it will not show you that content ever again. The reason why people keep becoming rich and famous over being retarded influencers is because people are too lazy to manually fix their front page and curate it to their liking, it’s probably made like that by design to maximize the amount of clicks but this feels more of like a reminder than something original lol(wrong thread)

nyart idk about other pets but PLEASE DO NOT do this if your pet is a ferret. 'cause cedar. actually tbh a large portion of "essential oil" crap should never be used around pets, at all.

No. 2121468

I'm the original anon and to add to this, don't use diffusers. I only use the oils around the frames as a deterrent, not on those crappy diffusers, they will cause serious breathing issues even on yourself after some time, especially so on pets. It's perfectly fine to have it like smeared on the frame of a window especially if the pet can't get to it. Pets don't normally like licking things that are highly acidic smelling but obviously you could have a pet that does like to so you need to observe.

Most oil crap is MLM related pseudo science but ceder does work as a pest deterrent.

Dissolving oxyclean separately in a cup of boiled water before adding it to the wash makes it far more effective than adding it directly to a load.

Keeping the white vinegar train going - if you burn anything or have generally strong smells in the kitchen/anywhere in the house, leaving a bowl of white vinegar out in the offending room overnight will take care of any lingering smells.

No. 2123828

This only works sometimes, but it's something I've learned:

When you're going to a takeout place, or getting food to go, when you're talking to the cashier mention how hungry you are and how you're so excited to eat. Sometimes, they'll give you bigger portions or extra items. You have to be friendly and kind though, and it doesn't work all the time, but does enough that I always do it.

If you're ever worried or questioning of your sexuality, ask yourself:
>Do I think about women sexually or romantically?
>Would I ever eat out a woman?
>Would I ever date a woman?
>Would I ever marry a woman?
>Would I ever spend the rest of my life with a woman?
>Would I ever do the aforementioned with a man?
If you answer all six with a yes, you're bi. If you answer only the first five with a yes, you're a lesbian.

You should completely close your mouth when brushing your back teeth to actually get them clean. Maybe some people already do that, but I think most people keep their mouth open with brushing.

If you're making spaghetti pasta and can't tell if it's cooked, throw it against a cabinet door. If it sticks, it's done. I've been doing this for years and it never fails. Vid related.

Samefag, you can do it with all types of pasta but spaghetti noodles work the best.

I know this works but isn’t it easier to just sample a bit of pasta? Or are we so scared of eating an undercooked noodle that we’re gonna fling it at the wall instead. Also this does not work with other types of pasta. My bowties are not going to stick to the wall when they’re done. It probably would work with linguini but that’s pretty much it.

>isn’t it easier to just sample a bit of pasta
Not really. Letting it cool down enough to taste it without burning your tongue takes longer than letting it cool down enough to throw it against a wall. Also, it's just more fun. It does work with macaroni.

If you get lower back pain/discomfort when laying on your side, try putting a thin pillow (or a balled up blanket in my case) in between your knees, or under your ribs/the narrow part of your waist. It helps so much, putting something under my waist relieves pain the most.
