No. 211776

Post about weird habits that your pets have! Can be cute funny or just really weird.
Let's share fun things.

No. 211777

I'll start;
My cat loves to be slapped on his butt, repetitively. No one knows how it started. Like he'll just sit there and show me his butt looking at me.
Once it's too much for him he'll start playing though.

No. 211781

My cat loves a specific swivel chair, and goes completely ballistic if someone takes it from him. He likes to be in the room with other people so when I'm working he will meow utill someone pushes him and his swivel chair into my den.

No. 211782

One of my cat doesn't like to be petted and is pretty much always stand-offish but love being brushed. He'll start purring and being affectionate as soon as I'm brushing my hair. He also loves playing at being chased and then chasing as soon as I start going away, like a dog.

My cat loves to be brushed until he reaches some weird point when he goes aggro on me. It's always random. My dog has the same plushie for more than two years now, he always carries it and puts his head on it, as on a pillow, when he goes to sleep.
My other cat sometimes sits in a bathub. Never sleeps there nor lays down, just sits in silence. She always sees "ghosts", it's creepy af when she suddenly gets all suspicious and follows air with her gaze.
My bearded dragon sometimes sleeps by hanging from her liana, gripping it with just one hand
I can go on and on. Animals are too cute

No. 211784

Our cat is absolutely in love with my mom, when she's sick he never leaves her side, hisses at people if someone comes in to her bedroom while their sleeping.

No. 211787

My dog likes to shove things under the couch or ottoman and then gets upset when he can't reach them anymore. He'll just lay down on his side and "dig" under the couch and then start doing this funny growl-bark when he can't get the item anymore. Then I've got to get down there and try and dig it out.

No. 211789

One of my cats talks to her toys.

No. 211796

I used to have a cat that was obsessed with balloons, I would always get worried about her popping them but she loved batting them around with her paws

No. 211840

My older cat likes to show affection by licking, a lot. He's licked my feet, face, neck, etc. and then just sit on my chest all pleased.

Just now I had my palm facing up and he started licking my palm and then rubbing his head against it, which I think was partially cleaning himself.

No. 211842

our family cat used to like to lay on my mom's lap and sort of suckle on the palm of her hand? like, he kneaded her forearm while licking the palm of her hand, like a kitten drinking milk from his mom. it was so strange but we were used to it because he did since he was 3 months old. i guess it was like a comfort thing for him. he did it right until he passed away at 20 years old.

No. 211843

My cat is obsessed with bubbles. She'll sit and tap the bubbles or tap you until you start blowing them for her. One of my dogs likes to roll on his back with a toy and hold his toy above his head with his paws.

No. 211849

my cat just eats tape.

No. 211855

One of my cat really likes to bite on plastic wrapping (the stiff, shiny kind) and if I'm not careful she'll swallow it too, so every time she does it and I hear the noise, I shoo her away.

I do it even when I'm asleep, so my other cat learned to do this to wake me up when she wants food and I'm sleeping. Fuck that cat.

No. 211859

>>211849
Lol what ? Like really eating it or just licking at it?

No. 211860

My Dad has a small chicken that he is taking care of. That bird just loves to sit on heads.
I hope it will keep that habit It'll look super funny once it's fully grown.

No. 211877

My cat likes to chew on pens. I have to be careful to not leave them where he can get them

>>211777
This too

No. 211883

My Pomeranian likes to hide behind the toilet squeezed against the wall. It's pretty gross and I have no idea why. At first I thought maybe it was because a heat vent was there or something, but that's not it.

No. 211895

>>211883
Some dogs like closed spaces because it makes them feel safe and they see it as a den. You could try getting him a covered crate or dog house if he doesn't already have one

No. 211915

>>211859
chews and swallows it

No. 211963

I have a persian that likes chewing on plastic the second she hears it crinkles. She'll ignore it unless she can hear it make crinkle noises. She also likes to lay in the open and "play dead" with her belly exposed and will only move if you touch her with your foot.

I have a calico that kind of spider climbs the walls. Like when she's getting really hyped and ready to play she'll dash around and try to climb up the walls.

I also have another cat that chases rhe letters on tv when they move across the screen lol. It's really cute watching him try and catch the letters.

When I was a kid I had a dog that would lay in front of the tv and just roll around. Never chose anywhere else. It HAD to be in front of the tv for some reason. She never wanted anything so I guess that was just her favorite spot to get her grub on and play.

No. 211964

If I hold something like a piece of paper/a paper towel/a leaf out to my dog-if I’m “offering” it to him-he’ll gently tear off a piece. Then spit it out. Then tear off another piece and repeat until it’s too small to grab with his teeth without biting me.

He’s also scared of voices spoken through a paper towel tube, or even if you speak from behind your cupped hands. And he loves ice cubes.

No. 211989

my dog will always lay on her back for some reason, like I could just be walking over or petting her head and she will lay on her back, she also tends to pee when she gets excited or scared and she is scared of everything, babies, shoes, some stuffed animals, false flowers, everytime I bring home something new she will get scared, pee everywhere, and run away
she also has detachment issues, like when I leave for school she will leave my parents room and sit outside my room and start crying

No. 212000

>>211895
Nope, he has one already. In fact it's probably one of his favorite spots to chill. I guess hiding behind the toilet is just his #2 position.

No. 212006

my cat loves plastic bags. she licks them and stuff, she's crazy.

No. 212063

My neutered chihuahua mix humps like seriously HUMPS the fuck out if his toys and its driving me insane

Okay I totally admit that I could be playing with him more or doing something to engage and entertain him b/c I've read that's what humping could mean. A lot of times he's content playing but he just gets in these humping moods

The only thingi can do is distract him but it only works for so long. like HOLY SHIT he is absolutely insatiable, he just keeps going even when he's panting and works himself up so much he starts reverse sneezing and shit. He only stops when he's dead tired.

He's only 4 pounds, I'm afraid he's gonna give himself a goddamn heart attack

No. 212064

My guinea pigs continuously move where i've placed their hiding places (domes), sometimes I wake up and they're in completely different positions.
They do it right in front of my sometimes, i'll move it and just stick their head out and move it right back to where they want it, it becomes a game when they've done it 5 times in a row.
Sometimes, I have no idea how they do it because i've never caught them in the act, i'll come home and the domes will be flipped upside down? Like I have no idea how they could do it because these domes are a bit heavy and my guinea pigs aren't fully grown, a true mystery.

No. 212088

My cat loves eating dried seaweed to the point she will snatch it out of my hands.

No. 212115

>>212006
My cat loves plastic too! He is constantly bringing home garbage from outside, including 3 popped balloons on separate occasions. Like he thinks he’s hunting and providing for his family.

No. 212137

Not my pets, but my friends' cats go crazy when I visit her place with freshly dyed salon hair. They start sniffing my hair, sinking their heads in it, nuzzling my face

No. 212520

>>211777
Be careful, you may be giving the cat a bad habit by hitting an erogenous zone.

No. 214302

my female cat likes kneading my [spolier]tits.[/spoiler]
my male cat goes outside with her and always brings a leaf into the house and drops it at my feet.

No. 214325

my cat is horrified of brooms. like whenever he sees it being brought out of the cupboard he will make his back all ripsaw-like and try to attack the broom and hiss at it but with the sort of look like his life depended on it.
he also likes to play fetch almost like a dog would and he replies to his name by either mewing or running to wherever i am (honestly I thought that was normal bc most cats here reply to their names but internet makes it seem like a rare thing?)

our other cat has been a stray for good 7 years of his life before we took him however he is so sweet and cudly?! whenever I squat down next to him he'll try to climb in my lap, sometimes he will try to climb my legs when im still standing like I'm some sort of a tree.
his fur is grey and quite long and when he walks he sways his tail from left to right at sorta downwards angle so it looks like he's a 50s housweife meticulously using an ostrich feather duster

No. 214351

>>211776
My cat likes me to pinch him and step on him and hold him down (playfully, not hurting him).

No. 214355

I have one cat who just loves IcyHot or those pain patches. If he smells one on you he makes it his life's mission to get at that spot so he can lick.

No. 214890

My bunny loves to bite and sleep on my stuff, like my clothes, bags, even my homework.

No. 214982

I always add extra space/cages with lots of tube connections for my syrian hamster.I ran out of colorful plastic hamster tubes so i made a long ass tube with lots of plastic water bottles,i connected it from the 1st floor of his main cage to this new little cage. And this dumb shit literally chew most of the tube till where he can reach and he climbs up the tube, drops himself, climbs up and drops himself again, again,AGAIN.He seems to be having fun falling in to shitloads of wood scraps and paper pieces but i hope he doesnt injure himself,he's already a 2+ years old grampa hamster.

No. 215306

WEW LAD I FUCKING LOVE THIS THREAD AND AM ABOUT TO SPERG ABOUT MY CAT SO HARD SO IF YOU'RE NOT INTO IT, MOVE ON

>Got my cat when she was about 2 months old while I was unemployed and severely depressed

She inhales or something when she cleans herself so she makes little slurping noises
She meows back if you talk to her in a sing song voice
If she wants cuddles or treats she will follow me or my fiance around the house and then sneak up and spring jump up at our backs without using her claws, to pounce us for attention
She is an indoor only cat and sleeps in the bed with us every night, she is extremely clingy and always sleeps on me, curled up under my chin, or lately in the winter months she comes in under the blanket and plops herself into my arms for the night
She fucking loves spinach and will try to steal the bag of it when we bring home the shopping??? She doesn't even eat the leaves she just picks them up and gently carries them around???
She sync'd her poop schedule with mine
I since got a job and she bounces up to the door every evening when one of us gets home
Everyone's favourite, she randomly chose one of my plushies when she was a kitten and she's fuuuuuucking obsessed with it. It's a small red panda plush and we nicknamed it for her and she will sometimes leave the room to go get it and bring it back with her to cuddle. It's so funny when you just see her plodding past the door holding it.

Tl;Dr my cat truly saved me from a fucking awful depression and brings so much light into my life just by being her weird self. I love her so much and I love all you guys weird pets too.

No. 215316

We got a new cat recently not really sure what breed (some kind of forest cat tho) and if you give her some paper that you've rolled into a ball she'll play with it forever.
She'll hide it for everyone and once I forget about that ball of paper.she brings it out again from somewhere.

She tends to get on my nerves despite her being really cute. Everyday around 4 am when I'm still sleeping she'll come into my room, wake me up and demanding belly rubs.

No. 218243

>>218241
Oh yeah forgot to mention that she tends to carry it around in her mouth as well.
And once I want to take it to play with her she'll play fetch with me. Running away from me stopping, looking at me, running away again and so on.
This cat has so much energy.

No. 218256

My dog does this too

No. 218310

Our cat loves to play fetch with straws.
She meows back when we meow at her.
If she sees a brush she runs over and starts meowing until she gets brushed.
Loves to chase after flies.
She also likes to sleep on my bfs pillow just right above his head.

No. 218322

>>218310
My old cat used to sleep on my pillow too! It's the cutest thing.

I would wake up in the middle of the night without a pillow. She would steal the whole thing from me.

No. 218325

I have a rescue cat that was already a few years old when we adopted him. If someone is in the bathroom, he will stand outside the door until they come out, then he leads them to the living room and hides. He has some teeth missing so sometimes he just sits staring at you with his tongue slightly out.

We have another rescue cat who came to us as a kitten, she is very smart and almost like a dog (she is clicker trained). She likes to stand like a meerkat and have her front paw held. She was the runt and was sick alot, she needed some extra care and attention so she imprinted on my husband and still loves him like he's her mommy.
