I can't count the times on my fingers when some guy has gone on about "girls shouldn't wear makeup, they're so much prettier with a natural face!" and link me photos of girls that are obviously wearing eyeliner, lipgloss, foundation and mascara. When I tell them that they're wearing makeup, I just get told that I'm a salty bitch.

I remember this one short-lived living doll (Lunabelle??) that posted a "completely natural no make-up" photo with some cheesy inspirational "everyone is beautiful on their own no matter what" tagline attached to the post. Only she was obviously wearing circle lenses, lipgloss, eyeliner, eyeshadow along with other thing and tons of photoshopping. When she got called out for the circle lenses she explained how "they are prescription lenses and she needs them, she just couldn't find her regular pair so she had to use these instead".

I remember when I was on a school trip with a bunch of guys, and they were raving about how great it was that women wore less makeup where we were staying and how most American girls looked "too fake" with all the makeup they wore. They cited various celebrity women as "perfectly and naturally pretty" and later asked one of the girls on our trip if she was feeling okay because, shocker, most women look a little tired without makeup because we're so accustomed to seeing them with makeup on.

There's asimple reason for this. Guys don't wear make up, so they don't know how it looks like, how it is applied, etc. It's like wigs, wig wearers will notice other people wearing wigs, no matter how natural it looks. Non-wig-wearing people won't notice a cheap wig if it's a natural colour.

I don't wear makeup and don't intend to. so it's hard for me to imagine the feeling of being face naked. I think if you wear it everyday it becomes the equivalent of necessary clothing, such as a shirt or pants. Not wearing it makes you feel exposed. I don't have that level of discomfort since I don't wear it. So when I tell someone they look fine they start pointing out all their flaws and how they need to cover them up.

My mom is CONVINCED that she has these enormous dark circles under her eyes. No one sees them but her. So she cakes on enough concealer so that you can see the layers of it. And that really draws attention to her eyes. Because she has concealer caked on in over 9000 layers.

How do you do it in the summer? My face is like the only place I sweat a lot. I can't even keep allegedly sweatproof sunscreen from dripping down my face.

I think they notice your eyes because people tend to be drawn to eyes.

As for myself, I only wear mascara and sometimes eyeliner day to day. But I also have thick glasses so I wouldn't bother with much else. Special events I break out the foundation and contacts and people lose their minds lol about how "made up" I look.
