Currently facing eviction because we got behind on rent, just barely. I’m not on the other side of it yet but I try to stay hopeful every day, maybe its blind optimism but I think about how many times things worked out in a way I didn’t think was possible. (Besides the things we can control like working more aka bringing in as much money as we can to hopefully pay our landlord back in time). I feel like I’m living in my own shell lately though, like from shame. I’ve told the two closest people to me that I’ve been stressed about money but I don’t want anyone to have to carry me through something I got myself into, emotionally or otherwise. Id like to think I accept my situation and I have grace for myself but I feel very ashamed, like being behind on rent is a moral failing even though I know it’s not. I can rationalize with myself all day but all of the thinking doesn’t change time and money and that’s all that really matters right now.

Same. I’m pretty much feeling like we’re about to be evicted because of a culmination of things, my personal failings included. Never feel too scared to ask for help from others though, I hope you don’t actually get evicted and it results in having no home.

McDonald's nonny was a poster who was full on homeless and would post anytime she managed to be outside a McDonald's because of the free wifi kek. I can't remember where she was from but we were nagging about los angeles in the vent thread years ago, she was so funny I hope she's okay.

I’m not the anon you’re replying to but can you also give me some sort of answers to my question. During an eviction is there any way to pay back the rent you’re missing and dismiss the case? Is there any way to stop or prevent an eviction if you’re missing rent payments? Sorry I’m not the anon you were replying to, just wanted some help. I live in Florida which is very shitty for renters at the moment

or are they like those americans who think they can't afford a place because they refuse to live in a non-fancy building outside of popular cities and waste their money on netflix?

Anon 20$ a month isn't going to make the difference between being able to afford rent or not. You sound like those boomers claiming "Just work harder and save like we did!!!! Don't buy avocados you stupid millenials!!!!" when property prices are going up by more than you make in a year.

Hey FL anon, I am looking into your states process right now. In my state, if you pay your balance before court date, then yes it should be dropped. (Communicate with your landlord that you will pay the balance before court date IN WRITING… gotta make a paper trail to show to judge)
Even if you pay and your landlord says its all kosher- GO TO YOUR COURT DATE. If you do not show up your landlord could lie and move forward with eviction. Have payment proof printed, any correspondence, etc ready for court.
Heres a great website for timeline of the process : https://www.azibo.com/blog/florida-eviction-laws-landlords-and-tenants

And heres legal aid of florida rescource
https://www.lsnf.org/

Now, I have a few questions for you;
>Did you receive a notice to pay or quit?
>Did you respond to the courts summons?

Thank you so much for this anon.
>Did you receive a notice to pay or quit?
I’m not sure, we are already missing June’s rent and July’s rent is past due, we only received a 3 days notice to pay but we tried to hold it out and see if we had enough and we didn’t for last month. So not yet, we’ll see.
>Did you respond to the courts summons?
We didn’t receive an official eviction yet. That’s what I’m afraid of. Thank you a lot for this info! Love you ♥

Ok, first and foremost; call/ email (preferred) your landlord, and offer to pay however much you can today. Tell them you were struggling with money and was too overwhelmed to consider reaching out.
Now lets say you owe 1k, but can pay 700 today and 300 next week. The fact that you are catching up would help in the court; as you show the judge you are communicating and trying.
ALSO; reach out to Salvation Army -rightttttttnow- I know, Im being bossy sorry. The reason why I say this, is that having correspondence started with that process is the cherry on top for your defense. Use the link I sent you for the lawyers- you can get free representation.
Do what you have to avoid eviction. Ive had to turn down so many applicants for rentals bc evictions stay on background checks for years- and that will affect your future ability to rent.

No. 2080759

>>2080734
Also, you did receive the 3 day notice to pay (or quit/move out). Then it’s not looking good. You will be served court papers next; please reach out to your landlord to make resolution.

When I volunteered the whole emergency hostel set up was you'd have to ring every single day at a specific time to try and get a spot for that one night. If that fails, you've to know what service to call next. A whole lot of calls and looking shit up to stay on anyones radar. You need a phone to hound people basically or you just cease to exist as far as they can tell. Weird but that was the set up.

>cheap internet for 20$ a month

People would buy those bundles where for 20 quid a month you get a call, text and internet bundle and thats what it was for.

Glad we made a containment thread for the retards on this website. If you're homeless in America, you're objectively retarded. Stop doing drugs. Get a job. Reflect on your poor personal decisions. Attain a skill that is actually worth something. Stop trying to live in cities beyond your means.

I'm glad they're illegalizing homelessness because every single one of you are a scourge upon this earth.(infight bait)

Thanks for the additional advice. We will try because a lot of landlords can be absolute fucking assholes, they tried demanding the missing rent for last month’s and this months a few weeks before it was due until we went into the office to explain ourselves kek. I will also see if Salvation Army has anything, from the looks of it I don’t think they have much rental assistance in FL because of faggot Ron DeSantis. I hate this state so much. Thanks! It’s very scary but I will try, I have a lot of stuff here and this is really my only home so it would suck to become homeless and finding somewhere else to go.

Homeless men are way more dangerous than homeless women so it might work to deter them but I would definitely stay away especially if it seems like they are aggressive or on drugs. I’ve heard way too many stories of women who wanted to give a homeless man money or even just walking down the street from shopping in a store and getting hit with a glass bottle in the face. It’s incredibly sad they have animosity for people who aren’t the ones criminalizing homelessness.. some also get violent when you only give them a few coins and nothing more. Just stay aware and find different areas in your parking garage to avoid them for your safety
