note on a wall that said “the internet is not your home” I think of it often. it’s fun to be silly here but everything that makes life meaningful and beautiful is out there. back when I was on twitter there was a lot of “online is the only safe space for teens anymore!” speak which is just sad and untrue. I think the internet was a lot healthier in its infancy, when it was more of a shared activity between people, i.e. siblings hanging out on the family computer or teen girls giggling together on aim. everything now is impersonal slush. we were never meant to sit down and get comfortable.
