I feel like so many people just do random sfx and body paint for no reason other than it's easier to score creativity and skill points when you have that 'wow' factor.

Not that there's anything wrong with that- I think it's really interesting from an artistic viewpoint and makes a cool video, but doesn't serve much of a purpose outside of that. I did think the 'gilded cage' one was really pretty though.

tbh, pic related might be my least favourite. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, it's not bad per-se but I feel like there was probably something better out there? I dunno, I personally think the wings on her face look a bit weird and unfinished somehow… like she wanted to add extra detail but couldn't quite figure out how to tie them in.

Pretry much. ngl, I thought the Betty Boop one was kind of cute and I liked that she used makeup to enhance her actual features instead of just drawing big circles with white eyeliner. But yeah, mostly it just seems like a contest of who can cover their face with the most colours and/or prosthetics.

Anzujaamu is entering this year and her entry is pretty much a ripoff of a Minori look.

The Walking Dead, witch doctor, and gilded cage ones are cool. The Lumiere is downright disturbing and my laptop isn't fast enough to load the rest but oh well.

The entries for the first challenge are up on the website now and voting is open.

I haven't looked at them all yet, but this one instantly caught my eye as someone really reaching for ways to make their look stand out and be ~creative~. Maybe it's just me, but I think it would have been much prettier if she'd kept it simple. I thought the gold leaf was a neat idea on its own, but as it is it just looks like she was attempting to make a "Full Face of all my Craft Supplies" video.
