With the release of the toddler update and vampire pack for Sims 4, it had me wondering how many of you play/have played the Sims.

Do you prefer Sims 2 or maybe Sims 3? What are some of your favorite aspects of the Sims and what are some things you hated? For those who are fans of Sims 4, is there anything you'd love to see added, such as seasons or university?

Feel free to share pics, stories of your own Sims gameplay, talk about the best way to kill annoying townies, etc.

Personally I still love Sims 3 just because of the sheer amount of stuff in it. Sims 4 is definitely prettier, and it's catching up in the 'stuff' department, but when you're building and decorating it's great to have lots of variety. Plus the terrain tools! I really hope they bring that back, I want that more than the color picker (though I'd still appreciate the color picker).

I go through phases of being into the actual game play and not being interested in it at all, but I always love building, decorating, and making new sims. I haven't even played in City Living yet even though I've bought and and decorated apartments lol. I do like watching let's plays of other people playing though.

Recently fell back into Sims after downloading all of the Sims 4 cracks. I love the game and never really get tired of it.

In regards to Sims 4, I had their new neighbourhood system where you can really edit a neighbourhood anymore and it's just all preset lots and stuff. It's very frustrating when I want to edit around lots and I can't (unless I'm dumb and there is a way and I just haven't figured it out yet). I think pets are probably going to be next in Sims 4, though University wouldn't be too weird either. It fits into their British style town.

I've also recently gotten into watching people build on youtube. It's crazy how skilled and creative some people are with the game.

I go through phases as well of being really into playing and then feeling kind of bored with Sims 4. It's not as in-depth as the previous games, but I'm glad that devs seem to be trying to catch up a little.

I think I read somewhere that someone found a code that might mean pets are coming up. I think with the Sims 4's pretty cartoon-y style, pets could be a really fun addition.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can edit premade lots by using "bb.enablefreebuild" after enabling cheats.

Sims 2 was my favorite hands down. I got into The Sims when I was 9 and started out with the console games (Bustin' Out and Urbz were the best ones imo). Then at age 10 I finally got TS2 and was instantly hooked and obsessed with it till about the end of highschool. The game still holds up to date imo with custom content. The loading screens were kinda a bummer looking back on it now though. The Sims 3 lagged so much on my PC so I rarely ever played it, and forget about downloading CC bc that'd only make matters worse. Also I found the sims in TS3 really… ugly? So that was also a huge turn off for me.

I downloaded TS4 when it first came out because I figured it'd be a lot like TS2 but I was burnt out on it after a month. Didn't bother trying out any of the explansions later on either. I really miss playing The Sims though bc it was such a huge part of my childhood/adolescence but idk how to get back into it :(

I remember installing it again on a new desktop I got for my 14th birthday and wow, it was like night and day on how quick and smooth the controls were.

For those of you who loved the Sims 2, you can contact Origin or EA and they might be willing to give you a free copy. I know a lot of people did this about 8 months ago with success.

Just tell them that you missed the promotion they had awhile ago for a free download of the complete collection. If you still have your old discs or your old code, you can provide them with a pic of them, which I heard helps.

Once they got rid of Team Maxis and boolprop the games started going downhill for me. Maxis put a lot of effort into the first sims and 2, there were so many easter eggs and hidden secrets in those games. Idk it just made those games a lot more charming and they felt more personable. Now it's so painfully obvious that the franchise is treated as a cash cow and EA keeps throwing mediocre content out there because they know people will buy it, this was especially the case with The Sims 3. I'd do anything to see Maxis lead the development of the sims again but I doubt that'll ever happen.

Sims 2 was great and even 1. Sims 3 introducing real time made me not want to play and I have a shitty pc. But am wanting to try it again maybe. I don't even know if I would like the fourth one at all.

Pretty much this. I was so happy with Sims 3 when I first got it and I expected Sims 4 to take the game to a whole new level but I was pretty suspicious back when all the previews were just about the physical character customisation. Sims 4 just felt really money grabbing.

Awww man no wonder the sims 4 had a different feel to it. I'm not a really big fan so I'm not up to date with dev team changes. They're slowly releasing content that otherwise would have been a part of the main game- like come on, there hasn't been one good dlc pack to buy at all. They're finally adding toddlers, and we've yet to see sims pets but they're going to milk it even further before that happens. I actually love sims 1 just because it had such a big variety of extra content. I hope they release a magic version in sims 4 but I know that will never fucking happen.

No. 179912

I want a magic pack so bad, anon. So bad I can taste it. Making faeries and witches and genies is my lifeblood in the Sims for sure. I don't want new jobs, I just want magic, dangit.

If there was somehow a way to combine Sims 3's gameplay and 4's loading and graphics, I wouldn't buy another game as long as I lived I swear.

Sims 2 will always be my fave since it innovated the multiple life stages and supernaturals. The interactions were always fantastic. I love Sims 3 for all the content but it's so damn slow to load. I feel like I'm always having to clean up files just so it doesn't crash on me. I was very anti Sims 4 for a while but with all the stuff they've released it may be somewhat fun now. No way in hell I'm going to pay full price for it though, a lot of that content they're releasing in bits should be in the base game imo. Now I'm just waiting for a sale.

No. 179937

I never liked Sims 3. I bought it and something about it pissed me off so much that I stopped playing after like 3 days. I haven't tried it since because now I mostly stick to 4. I feel like 4 is slowly getting there, Get to Work was a great addition and the crops/collecting portion I think is kind of fun. I feel like they could easily use that to segway into a magic update as well, but I guess they're focusing more on the science side since most of the stuff that potions and magic stuff could do in Sims is now with machines and science items (mood changers, controlling sims, aliens, etc.)

Oh jeez, Sims 2 was my shit for so long. I tried playing Sims 3 for a little bit and while it was really pretty, it just didn't have the same charm (or the amount of CC) that 2 did.

My best friend and I spent way too many weekends playing Sims 2 on her busted laptop. Making Sims of people we hated in high school and making them all live together in goofy neon disco houses, having every radio station play custom music, browsing download directory sites and downloading custom packs blindly.

I miss it way too much, lmao.

Sims 2 is the best sims. I have every expansion pack i love it so much! I played it when i was a 2000s preteen so I would download all the emo/scene custom content and make my edgy teen sims have dramatic love storys, (also the same formula, emo boy moves next to scene girl, they get pregant and fall love forever) I was always making teen pregnancy stories. the university expansion was the best imo, along with seasons. I like sims 3 as well, and sims 1 for nostalgia but nothing will ever beat sims 2 its perfect

I played sims 4 at a friends house and it was okay, it felt unnessercy but sims 3 was pretty dead so I get why EA brought it out.

I just remembered about the Sims Urbz for PS2. I absolutely loved all the character customisation and the fact that you needed to dress a certain way to gain access to certain clubs. It's the only Sims game in my memory that had facial piercings. The minigames were great (once again loved how they reflected the area that you were in). I made so much money easily to customise my apartment and have huge parties. I also loved the similish versions of the Black Eyed Peas songs, all the little details made the game really memorable imo. It's one of my all time favourite games and I've always hoped they'd release a new one.

Also the Urbz, Sims 2 and Bustin Out for GBA were amazing (even the DS Sims was great), I think I played them all an infinite amount of times. They were really quirky and funny, a whole other genre than the pc games. I used to get goosebumps when the aliens appeared and their theme music would play, they really creeped me out (omg and the autopsy mini game from the DS game really scared me as a kid, for some reason I had this idea that if you did something wrong the alien would jump up and attack you and when I played it again years later I was like ?? Wtf why did I think that?). Getting to move to bigger and better apartments/houses really motivated me to finish the games and all the mini games were fun. I just have so many fond memories working my way through those games on long road journeys or secretly staying up really late to complete a certain mission.

Ah I wish the games could go back to those glory days, now I see the likes of Sims 4 being really money-hungry with all its expansion packs. That game was so dissapointing considering all the great content that was in the previous pc games.

What games I really loved were the stand alone games they had, the medieval one and the cast away one, I thought they were really great fun because you had the customization and freedom if you wanted it of a normal sims game but also some story and goals. I find I get easily bored of the sims because there isn't like a goal to work to that isn't just don't ruin your life by not having enough money.

Oo, Sims thread in the farms.

I may or may not have arr'd Sims 4. Definitely like it better than 3 but yeah, it still lacks quite a bit of content.

I like that even without getting hyper realistic skins ( = hyper textured ) and alpha hairs, the Sims can look really nice.

The CC scene is increasingly cancerous though.

My brothers best friend gave me a pirated copy of the sims 1 and i remember running it on my old computer and my firends and i would get together and make people from our classes and make life shitty for the ones we didn't like, fun times, but the game was a little too restrictive so i dropped it as soon as i got internet.

In the 00's i mostly got them in playstation and a few in ds since i didn't have a good computer at the time. I had Urbz, sims 2 and 3 and sims 2 pets. I really enjoyed the story mode for 2 in the playstation 2, doing all the missions to find out more places and people and uncover mysteries was my shit. Urbz was also really fun what with all the cliques and tacky clothes and more edgy stuff and will.i.am, i really liked getting into all the cliques and making them all mine in that glorious 2000's fashion and music.

Then i got the sims 2 when they did that origin promo that gave all the expansions and the base game for free and spent so much time on it making so many stories i had over 500 hours in it the day i uninstalled it, it was so good.

My first and favorite long "history" was one was a bunch of teenagers that decided to live together and mostly hated each other to death and kept fighting until a dude fucked anothers girl boyfriend while she was pregnant and that caused her to try to kill them, the dude dumped her and went with the other dude but kept living in the apartment since the dude was techincally the owner, but she also had to keep living there cause she was too poor to move, when she had the baby she put it behind a counter, killed all the child services ladies that came home while the little shit starved to death and went to do cheap pornos because why not.

The other one was with this zombie apocalypse mod that came out and a bunch of edgy shits covered in simsgraveyard content, but it kept crashing my (then) piece of shit laptop so i dropped it.

The mods were amazing and so varied, really miss it, but when i searched for them about 90% were wiped from the internet in favor of sims 3 mods, which sucks ass.

Haven't touched it in years but this thread is making me want to do it again.
I thought about getting sims 3 or 4 when they go on sale, but the overpriced as fuck expansions that never go down in price and base shit content for 4 make me a little wary, though 4 relationship system seems really interesting and it seems really good as far as apparence mods go.

Man I was such a sims 2 lover, but I can't say I've really had much experience with any other sims game but 2 for the pc and PlayStation 2.

I had the Sims 2 Pets for PlayStation first (cheat gnome) and played that for most of my life, then got the sims 2 deluxe for pc for like $25. When something was malfunctioning in that, I contacted support and they gave me the Sims 2 Ultimate.

I have spent fucking hours on that game, mostly downloading heaps of visual mods because all the functional ones were baleeted off the Internet to make room for the sims 3 ones.

I actually really want to get a newer sims game, but I'm not all that keen on spending so much not only for the base game but the addons. Like, I really wish that wasn't such a thing for the sims where every addon is the price of a fully priced game, and for it to go down in price you have to wait 5+ years.

I'd download sims 4 illegally, but I think I'd fuck it up somehow. I can tell when something is sketchy but man, I have no idea where to even start with a actual big game like that.

I get such an odd feeling when I look back on it. It was a bit of a strange game, as it was usually dead silent most of the time with the exception of a few sound effects.

The whole point of the game was to reach the top level of your job, while growing vegetables, making friends and expanding your house. It had a little classic sims humour in there, but it was quite straight forward and a little unsettling.

Sims 2 always holds a dear place in my heart, and I think that if it had the open-world feature, it would be the perfect Sims game. I hated 3 at first, so much so that I didn't actually give it a chance until years after it was released. Anyone else here really fucking love Sims Medieval? It's so good and i don't get bored easily like i do at sims 3 & 4 (not sims 2 though<3333), because there are quests and achievements and cool shit like that. I really enjoy that u have different types of heroes, and i think the watcher concept is interesting.

I hated it, I think it played like once or twice before forgetting it. It felt too controlled for me, i guess

Oh yeah I played it until I earned all the 'achievements'/'scenarios' or whatever they are called.

Sims 4 and a few early EP's are on sale 50% off through Origin right now. I'm thinking of getting the base game and Get to Work to check it out. I wish some of the newer stuff would go on sale though.

I fucking love the sims. I was excited for 4 to come out but I saw it was shut and it looks like it's still shot so I'm staying with 3. I'm addicted to "shopping" for new clothes, jewelry, make-up and hair around the net. The body slider mods are fun. I created this creepy as duck black ghost dude with long arms and legs, antlers, and a deep echo voice. Made his home lot a small forest with black trees. I've also made
>A public mini pet "neighborhood" park for stray animals because I felt bad for the dogs and cats running around in the snow and rain. I lined up the house-like dog houses next to each other and back to back with small bushes to make it look like a suburban neighborhood. There's a small building near it that houses their food bowls, cat and dog toys, furniture and such too.
>A "cram school" with three classrooms
>Love hotel resort
>Forest with a secret underground hideout
>Asylum
>Daycare
>Boutique
>haunted night club

I broke some of the face sliders as only eyes, nose and lips work but I can't change anything for chin, cheekbones, and jaws. Too lazy to go into my files to figure out what did it.

Where's the best place to get CC for the Sims 2? Mainly clothes and hair stuff.

Tsr is terrible but for some reason most people on tumblr (where I get my cc) use it and it's a pain in the ass to download from.

I opened the game to get a screenshot, but it was winter so I decided I'd play until Spring. Hours later I remembered I could just go into edit town mode.

Most creators from livejournal have a tumblr now and post so often it's crazy. The sims 2 "simblr" community is still alive and kicking over there, and with how old the game is the CC keeps getting better and better.

No. 182178

I'm really in the mood to build some community lots right now. I had to reinstall my game and lost some save files so I've got a few new areas free.

So far I've built
>cinema
>generic café (for dates and whatnot)
>tea garden
>an American style diner
>a three story nightclub with different themes on each floor
>a big gothic mansion
>an apartment for all my teen sims lol
>café/bookstore
>museum

What interesting things have you guys built?

I'm trying to get more creative and do fun builds after getting inspired by Sims youtubers so I'm currently rebuilding the Von Haunt Estate from Sims 4 into an Art Nouveau/Belle Epoque style house. I've added a ton of greenery and plants and changed the windows to large rounded ones. I think I might add/change the roof to make it a bit rounder as well? I wanted to do some tilework but I don't want to download any mods so I'm limited to hos I can decorate the outside walls.

I'm also frustrated that I can't edit the garden because it's off-lot because I want to turn it into a English garden where it's all wild and natural.

The photo is the original estate, I haven't taken any screenshots of my edit yet

I got my mom playing sims 4 and I think it's super cute lol makes me want to play it again but I seems most people don't like 4, but I like it a lot. I like the cartoony style.

The original Sims and the Sims 2 were part of my childhood. - I especially liked the Sims 2 because of the storylines, the families the secrets and the funny easter eggs!

I really liked the open world thing of the Sims 3 and the design tool were you could design clothes and furniture, but the Sims looked all similiar and were ..kind of ugly?
I also played the newest game, the Sims 4. The CAS from the game is really good but it would be even better if there also was that design tool and I really miss the open world thing, because the long loading screens are really annoying and I feel..trapped?

for a while when i was about 12 i'd play sims 2 for 16-20 hours a day for a few days in a row. had to stop when i tried to hit increase the speed of real life when i was bored. it was a good summer

i hated making a cute teen sim and then only having ugly townies for her to date so i'd make an extra sim who wasnt related to the rest of the family and lock them away on a separate floor until i was ready for them to get with my sim, then i'd move the rest of the family out of the house. sims 2 best sims. i miss the cutscenes

ahaha i used to do this too! I also would make two houses on one really big lot and move in a family that had two sets of parents and kids so I could have a cute neighbour romance and been in complete control of it

Back when i was a NEET i used to play so much fucking sims 2 that eventually the game only served to make me even more depressed than i already was. But it was great at times, kept me entertained while being unemployed.

I can't imagine playing any sims game without a shit ton of mods though. Without it the game just seem so dull and hollow. To bad most of the modding community doing sims 2 mods are gone now, not that it matters, game is horribly outdated anyway…

The original Sims game had such nice mods, I'm so sad they're all gone. There were these entire websites full of greenhouses, new plants, flowers, magical items, skins, all kinds of weird shit. There was another one with gorgeous houses and flowers but it's gone now.

I don't like the newer Sims games because they seem to be geared more towards roleplaying than building stuff, and I mostly played it to build cute houses. The graphics were also chunkier.

A lot of Sims 1 CC actually still exists anon, you just gotta know where to look.
A lot of the smaller sites have lil banners to promote other sites, and while plenty of them are long gone there are some that are still alive with working download links to this day. I'll dump a few links.

A lot of the content from the dead sites can be found at CTO Sims, but it's down temporarily and I don't know when it'll go back up.

My sims 1 CC folders probably have like 20k files in altogether. I gotta organise that sometime lol

Mom just said it was weird and was squicked out since she's prudish about lesbians. Never watched me play again and whenever there was a Sims ad she'd make a mention about how it's "too adult."

But I fucking love that game, time to google if any of the newer console games are comparable.
After I lost my gorgeous meticulously modded house in sims2 it's killed any motivation for the PC games. I loved the gameplay of the GC one though, especially trying to get all the unlockables

I hate everything.

I might see if I can trial and error the email and if it doesn't work I might see if I can sperg to tumblr support about it…
