I just watched the stream. You can hear her quietly sniffling and whimpering as she stands on the bucket. Then she whimpers "goodbye" and kicks off. So fucked up :(

She seemed a really nice person too. Her behaviour was pretty sexualised for a 12 year old, but then she was a victim of abuse.

Apparently the stepfather's been logging into her facebook account to delete some things she'd posted.

Her home was so scummy my heart went out to her. It's one of those instances where the authorities don't do enough to help vulnerable kids.

I hope he and the troll get sent to jail for a long time and get their heads kicked in on a daily basis.

This girl seemed so smart and grown up for only being 12 years old. For example, in her blog entries she had perfect grammar and punctuation. Although being surrounded by such disgusting and idiotic people, she was a very smart and beautiful girl. I'm surprised they even had wifi in their house for it being such a shit hole. Also, I'm surprised she even had a phone seeing as they're so poor or that her mom would even allow her to have a phone since she seemed to really hate her daughter. You'd think her broadcasting all of that someone would step in eventually but no one gave a shit.

I thought she'd probably have the phone because the mother wanted to keep tabs on where she was so she could call her in to be her slave. Katelyn's phone rings whenever you can hear her name being called in the video, so…

A lot of other kids all around the world go through this sort of shit, so her age doesn't surprise me at all (kids kill themselves way more often than people seem to appreciate), but I guess she stood out because she talked about her issues on her blog, filmed her interactions with her abusive family and generally had an online presence up to the day she ended it all. I guess it's a good thing because it spreads awareness, but I'm sad that this is what it takes before people start to notice and care instead of screaming "selfish! attention whore!" or brushing things under the rug.
By the way, her stepfather had the nerve to go on her FB and say "she was my angel, she loved me" and shit like that. The same stepfather who treated her like shit, refused to let her reach her full potential (she was chosen to travel somewhere with other "gifted" kids and he tore up the invitation thing in her face and wouldn't let her go), and sexually abused her. One of Katelyn's aunts later went on the FB page to confirm that everything Katelyn said in her blogs about her mother and stepfather being abusive was true (she said they had confirmed legally that she was molested, but the rape charges were still "in the process", typically of court) and said her mother never let her go to the relatives' house specifically because she didn't want her to escape or tell anyone about what happened.
I seriously hope the mother and stepfather get their shit absolutely wrecked by the US legal system, and I hope her siblings get sent to live in a hopefully less twisted household/situation. No one should have to suffer with such cruel, shitty parents.
Also, apparently she had a boyfriend who killed someone (for raping his (ex)-girlfriend). People theorized it was some sort of BEN drowned creepypasta RP though.

Idk, it makes me feel helpless when the whole thing's affected me so much. Its like, what can you do to help them if you're not a social worker who, in this case, haven't done anything for her. She'd taken an OD of pills a few months before and yet she was left in that stinking trailer with her junky mother.

Seems like this older guy/bf pushed her over the edge. He needs checking out. Wtf was he doing wanting to fuck a 12 year old.

Sorry for reviving the thread, but an update video about this case has been made by Mr. Gunk in March 2017. Apparently, nothing changed - the rotten druggie mother still has custody of her kids and the abusive stepfather wasn't prosecuted, even though Katelyn's autopsy supposedly showed signs of sexual abuse. This makes me so angry. How can the system be so corrupt and dysfunctional? I didn't expect the trolls to be prosecuted, but at least do something about the parents. I'm so done with this world sometimes :(

Agreed. Why doesn't CPS do anything? How is it possible that nothing has been done, even though many serious issues in that family are well-documented (basically streamed over the internet and archived)? Also, the aunt says that she knows Katelyn's been abused, so there are relatives potentially willing to testify. What it's going to take? Will another child of that shitty excuse for a mother need to commit suicide for someone to become interested? Sickening.

Gross. Been there, but was too young to retain most memories of abuse. My mother still doesn't know. The sad thing is, when you claim something like sexual abuse, or are too young too express yourself properly, people go unpunished.

This is a story that should shock people and motivate some serious changes. If nothing has happened and not even the family was held accountable then it really is outrageous
