MOOCs aka Massive Open Online Courses, are, as the name implies, online courses intended to be highly accessible. There are now tons of sites running MOOCs, each with their own format and system, but generally speaking all the materials and assignments are posted online for free and you can work through at your own pace. Some places will run 'sessions' for free where you can actually turn in homework and get feedback on your work, but for many sites if you want the paced version of the course with interaction from the instructors/assistants, you'll have to pay for it. Some courses also offer a 'certificate of completion' that you may or may not have to pay for, and which often times is of dubious worth.

Here are some links that may be helpful:

This thread is for finding a study buddy/group for free or paid online courses. Often people lose interest in the free self paced courses because it doesn't have the structure, feedback, or interaction that a normal course has, but having someone to talk to about the curriculum and who can hold you accountable can help (like how having a workout buddy can keep you regular at the gym). If you are interested in meeting other people to study with, post with

> The topics that you are interested in and your 'level' in the topic applicable (beginner, intermediate, advanced)

> If you have specific courses in mind, post links
> Preferred contact method (Discord, Skype, Email, etc)
> Any additional info about yourself you think is important (If you want to work at a specific pace, include that ie: "I have lots of free time and want to finish 2 assignments a day." or "I have a limited amount of time to work and can only commit to weekly checkins.")

OP here, no idea if this thread will help anyone, but I wanted to give it a shot anyways.

Interested in these, but I'm open to other ideas as well:

Flexible, but I like Discord.

> Additional info

I'm borderline NEET right now while I work through some personal stuff, but I want to get better. After reading through the mental health thread I thought that perhaps some folks here might also be interested in some baby steps for self improvement, so here I am. I am flexible on time, can do daily or weekly goals, or anything in between. If you just want to talk about the course, that's fine, but I'm also interested in making friends (but I'm bad at socializing so this structure kinda helps me).

I'm not planning on following a specific course but I like to learn about programming. I'd say I'm between intermediate and advanced, if you or someone else in this thread needs help on a subject related to computer science I'd be happy to try to help.
You can reach me hereĀ : lolcow@cocaine.ninja. I'll try to remember to periodically check my mailbox.
