Do we have any farmers who are parents? Do you want to have children one day? Why or why not?

I'd love to be a mommy someday (damn maternal instinct) but I'm afraid of bringing a child into the world when the resources are running out at lightning speed.

I want to adopt children, but I don't think I'd really be mature and patient enough to raise another human till I'm in my 30's. I'd feel nothing but guilt if I had my own children, too much depression and mania runs in my family for it to be worth it to reproduce.

That's really responsible of you. I've been meeting more and more people like this. They don't want to run the risk of passing down mental illnesses to their children.

I have the exact same feeling and beliefs, my genetics are terrible and my family should probably be banned from having kids tbh, but someone once pointed out to me that orphaned kids aren't going to be prize bred or whatever either.
I would still rather take a parentless child with FAS and bad genes than be responsible for bringing another into this world but it's something for some people to consider. Not to lean too heavily on stereotypes but when you adopt a kid how can you really know that they have any better genetics than your own and that mummy wasn't smoking a ten pack daily whilst pregnant?

My husband and I really want kids but due to the kind of employment contract I'm on I'd most likely lose my job if I got pregnant. This just sucks.

I would like to have a child someday, but I'm autistic and have a family history of mental illness.
My fiance is autistic too, so the chance of the child being autistic, is quite high.
Mild autism wouldn't be a problem at all, but severe autism wouldn't be fun for the kid or us.

I personally don't have a problem with adopting, but my fiance does. He wants a kid with his own genetics, and I do understand that. For him it would be difficult (maybe even impossible) to get attached to an adopted kid.
