i quit retail during covid and it was depressing how many old people were getting scammed, the manager would hide stacks of apple and google play store gift cards behind the counter and we’d lie about them being out of stock or recalled. the biggest giveaways of people getting scammed were if they asked about the code to text their friend, and when they would get upset if we asked too many questions about who their friend (ie porn model catfish photos) was. they’d come in multiple times a week to buy cards. it was mostly guys but I found out an old woman was getting scammed by an “overseas military boyfriend” for thousands of dollars in amazon cards at the store in the next town over.
