hi there. Thought I'd ask here since I'm not sure where else to ask on anon.

So I've started to stream on twitch. I'm really shy irl and don't have friends. I've loved video games since I was a kid though so I thought started streaming would be a good way to play games I enjoy but have people to talk to while I do it. And it's been great so far I really love interacting with my viewers. I still have a very small follower count (about 380) but I've got a problem. I've been using a fake voice.

It's dumb I know but I hate my real voice. I don't think it sounds cute at all compared to all the other girls on the Internet. I make my voice more high pitched to sound cute. But now I'm sort of caught up in a lie. I'm not sure if I should come clean now, never, or admit to it once I get a webcam. (because hopefully they'd just focus on my face and not care at that point idk).

Got any suggestions? I don't exactly feel bad about it until my boyfriend says it's fake. Which it is, it's the only fake thing about me but it's still not genuine. I just don't like my real voice that much and getting compliments on my fake voice makes me feel better about myself.
Sorry if this is a bad topic but I kind of wanted advice or some input on what I should do???

if you want to keep doing this for eternity I would keep doing it. If (or when) you grow in followers it will be hard to suddenly change.

What I would do is stop it now (unless you wanna keep doing it) and tell people it's a 'character' you like to play for fun. What I would do if you wanna continue it is put this info in your 'profile' section so if you slip/don't wanna do the voice no one shits on you so much.

trust me, i was at 380 once too and at this point it would be too hard to want to stop a fake act. I understand what you mean though, I like to wear makeup and cute shirts on my stream to feel pretty so I get the fake voice :)

i got by any part of my username which is pretty much two words put together. it is nicer to keep it separate from anything in my real life but i did want my stream to be genuine, not just for taking advantage of thirsty guys. but now that i think of it maybe i should? ive considered doing 2 accounts, one for the money and lols and one that's serious because like i said before, i do like playing games and it's nice to not feel lonely while playing them.
not sure though, thank you for everyone's input so far though. im still really unsure, might take a while to decide unless i just say 'fuck it' and become a lowkey twitch whore. or just pander to people for money idek. at the end of the day, fake persona or not i would love to make money doing something i enjoy.

i actually do the opposite. i have a voice changer to make my voice lower in games where i can voice chat so it won't be discovered that i'm a girl (because if you have a high pitched voice in most games, people assume you're 12 years old or a girl. and both get a lot of negative attention)

Funny but no. I stream at least 2-3 times a week and ahri pop has streamed maybe a total of what, 2 times? could hardly call it a stream though with that potato quality. All I could see is a few pixels until she died and the screen would freeze.

I'm starting to lean more towards keeping the cute act?? Idk I'm too embarrassed to come clean I think. I'm kind of torn on it though because I did want to become a genuine streamer. Oh well I guess I might just restart clean on another account or something.

what does being "a genuine streamer" have to do with not acting? 99% of streamers "act" on their stream. You HAVE to to have an audience. You have to be entertaining and having a stream personality is totally normal. Anyways, it's just your voice, not like you are faking your whole life/totally different person.

You could come clean and explain it's your retail voice. When I work at my customer service job I talk in a ridiculous higher-pitched voiced and I can't really stop it now because when I have to say something like "can I have your savings card?" I just do it. But then when I talk regularly it's much different.

Not at all. Her voice quivers a lot when it's high pitched and don't tell me it's because she's nervous talking to the camera. She does it all the time. Notice how she worded things in the video too. "When i go higher, it sounds more natural, in my opinion" Rofl she's not even sure of her voice.
Regardless, it definitely sounds more natural lower. She has such a pretty womanly voice. It's a shame she uses the babby one but she knows that's the only reason why she's semi popular. Congratulations on being fooled, though. Even dumbasses in the youtube comments are calling her out on her bullshit.
If you want more of her real voice, go check out her LoL voice acting videos. The womanly characters such as Morgana and Elise are nearly the same as her real one.
