To get a better understanding of your eating habits you should start a food diary. Even with a healthy diet, a food diary helps keep you goal oriented.

>I already eat healthy!>I'm like 314No you are in denial, nobody gets to 314lbs whilst eating healthy.
You're overeating and not moving enough.
Your weight gain is not the result of depression, it's the result of overeating and inactivity due to depression.
If you really want to start making serious progress, my advice to you would be to start logging a food diary of everything you in eat within a day and the total calories. Adult, non-sporting women are expected to consume between 1800-2000 calories as a maximum. For you to be 314lbs I'm guessing you must be consuming at least 3000-4000 calories daily.
You can calculate pretty much any and every food using this website:
http://www.calorieking.com/Also what's your height. This is vet important in calculating your calorific requirements.

>>155890nah, when you're this size, the key is eating right and watching your calories. you're gonna burn over 2k calories just doing the bare minimum and existing at this weight.
>even if you are depressed etc etci assumed op has depression rather than 'is depressed' and exercise cannot cure depression. i wish people would stop spewing that advice. it will help a bit if you're just in a negative funk tho.
>>155891honestly i agree. they are already in denial about the fact that they eat way too much or unhealthily so they are probably going to take all of our criticism on that fact as us "not knowing" or whatev.
i hate when people feel like you have to starve yourself to lose weight. at 300 it isn't all that hard to get down to a "normal" overweight like 150, which decreases pretty much all your health problems. losing that last 10-20 lbs is a lot harder than getting started.
i base all that ^ on purely anecdotal evidence, seems like pretty much every person that size i have ever seen go on a real diet and count calories even with no exercise loses like 80lbs in less than a year.
tldr JUST EAT LESS.

If OP waltzed in there and said "I'm 314lbs but I eat healthy I don't know what's going wrong I'm fat because of depression!" she would get fucking torn to shreds, btfo from every possible orifice in ways you can't even imagine.

>i already eat healthy(i make all my own foods, all my own stuff at home).
You have to be tough with yourself anon. It's one of the few ways, and sure everyone functions differently, but chances are that denial and delusion won't aid you in achieving a healthy weight. You are NOT eating healthily if you weigh this much. It is in fact possible to eat unhealthily whilst eating only items from wholefoods, or to be a morbidly obese vegan. It's great that you're preparing foods by yourself and at home, but at the end of the day being fat is about calories, not about the quality or nutritional content of the food.
You can get fat off healthy macalania nuts, vegan dark chocolate, free range organic chicken and vegetarian burgers.
Also, secret calories man, check out 'secret eaters'. It's scary how much we eat without realising, which is why writing down every calorie you eat is a great idea.
A lot of people in this thread have mentioned food diares, what works for me is a printout (the size of 2A4 sheets) where I note my calories each day with a pen, I keep it on my fridge for ease of access. I also get to see on which days I had more calories, on which less etc.
>most of my weight gain is due to depression
Just like with thyroid problems, this can account for a few extra kilos, but at your weight the problem is obviously that you have some sort of an eating disorder like BED or food addiction, you should look into getting help for that on top of your depression. Also, being obese makes depression worse, just like it makes diabetes, PCOS and a host of other illnesses worse.
>which is like primarily why i am overweight.
You're not overweight, you're morbidly obese.

>>155900You don't know the culture of /fit/.
They would eat OP alive, and then proceed to discuss her total nutritional content, whether she fit into their macros for the day, swapping tips on how to appropriately prepare and devour her various body parts and then how they've exceeded their fat intake for approximately the next 6 months.
Then they would get naked and jack each other off.
No homo.

>>155891congratulations, you're an asshole.
OP have you been checked out by your doctor? While yes, before others sream at me in this thread you do put on weight through eating-I was diagnoised with Polysystic ovary syndrome and once I got a plan sorted I managed to lose over 56lbs. Also your foot problem is going to make the exercise side more difficult, but losing weight is more about eating then exercise. Good luck!

>>155906Damn another? How many of us on here have been diagnosed with PCOS? Seems like we're up to 3.
I know someone is going to have a fit but you absolutely can put on weight following a standad healthy diet. A piece of fruit can spike my blood sugar as much as a small candy bar. I can't eat most fruits, wheat, rice, or soy. I also have a depressed metabolism. My bmr says I should be able to eat 1800 caloried and lose a couple pounds a week, when in reality it's closer to 1500 just for a .5-1lbs loss a week. And that's with plenty of exorcise every week.
You have to find what works for your body. If you can go to a nutritionalist who is will to help, rather than just push a plan at, all the better.
Lastly if you're gaining weight while being very careful about what you eat, you might have food intolerance. A great way that a dr taught me is to check your pulse about 10 minutes after eating something. If it's racing then you may have a problem and should try removing the food for a couple weeks and see if that helps.

As someone who topped out at 165 lbs and is currently 128, here's some actual advice -
Cut out the garbage. Soda, chips, candy, ice cream, all of it. If it's in your home, you'll be tempted to consume it.
Don't allow yourself to consume junk food as a reward. You'll wind up constantly finding excuses to "treat yourself."
Realize that cooking for yourself doesn't mean you're eating healthy.
Find healthy snack foods. I eat a ton of baby carrots and uncooked broccoli. And remember, if you're dipping it in Ranch dressing, you're doing it wrong.
If possible, find a grocery store / farmer's market with fresh fruits and veggies. In other words, stay away from Wal Mart. It's like they go dumpster diving for their produce. Ugh.
Swim, lift weights, do pilates, do yoga. There are plenty of exercises that don't require you to put any stress on your foot. Hell, sometimes I do ghetto bicycle kicks while sitting in front of my computer.
While a food diary will give you a far better idea of how shitty your eating habits are (assuming you're honest with it), it's difficult for a lot of people to remember to keep it updated. They lose track and then just… give up. That's why I focus on general rules, like only buying healthy groceries, rather than focusing on minutiae.
Fuck your excuses. I gained 70 pounds when my depression kicked in. I'm still depressed as hell. But being fat makes you feel worse. Get in shape. It sucks. Do it anyway. It's worth it.

>>155910ok, fair point, I meant an average sized woman with an average activity level. I am an average size, height and have an average activity level, that's why I'm a pretty good example. and anon happens to lose weight at the exact same amount of calories as I do.
I wanted to add that people have a misconception of what impact metabolism has on weight.
yes, bodies process food differently. but the only way they can do that is by getting LESS calories out of food. food or certain parts of it passing your body undigested and the like. happens to some people. but there's no way your body gets more than the maximum amount of calories out of food or magically turns water/air into energy/fat.

>>155907I ALSO have PCOS and I have always maintained a healthy weight because my diet has always been healthy
growing up my parents cooked all the meals, usually rice/veggies/beans and there were little sweets at our home (usually we bought one bag of oreos but that was it, or the occasional ice cream) and no shitty pre packaged snacks.
I also have IBS so it's a bit hard to eat some foods but in some ways this may have helped me not gain weight since high school. Lactose intolerant so I have almost no dairy except some cheese sometime.
TO OP in particular :
Remember that unhealthy foods like cookies or ice cream are TREATS not meals or everyday essentials. I love snacking on veggies ( I LOVE steamed asparagus or broccoli) and it can be easy to make if you are lazy.
Swimming is a great full body exercise, i did it for years. Actually helped a lot with my back pain, I have scoliosis and one of my hips is 3 inches higher than the other one which causes a good amount of pain/discomfort sometimes. Swimming alleviated it.
Keep a food diary but don't lie to yourself.
There are really no excuses IMO about being
that overweight. I get people can gain weight here and there or be a little overweight but come on. Get out of that victim mindset
I have:
-Scoliosis, 45% curve, one of my hips is 3 inches above the other one, one of my legs is shorter than the other one
- PCOS
- Borderline Personality Disorder/Bipolar 1. Some childhood issues
But none of those are an excuse to destroy my body. It's silly to act like you have no control over your weight. You can even have control over your depression (not like omg you can cure it!11!) but you can make it better. I've struggled too, not with weight, but with that self pity bs. stuff like oh man I couldn't do XX because i'm Bipolar!11 and I did not become mentally healthy by sitting around and making excuses.

>>155910I don't mean to be rude, but unless op is model tall or a professional weightlifter, she won't lose weight at 1800.
Actually, you're right she would, at her size just eating a little less than what she does will already help. But once she gets to average size 1800 will be a bit much unless she gets into sports.
No. 155916
>>155908I wasn't referring to op, I was using myself (5'11" and highly active) as an example of how not all bodies burn the ideal amount of calories just because people think they should.
But yes, if op is really over 300lbs like she says then 1800 would be nothing for her to lose weight on, even if she sat around all day, until she hit a weight that it was maintainable. That's way I mentioned that if she's eating healthy and normal portions, and still not losing then she should start looking at possible food issues. But first I think she needs to start weighing her food and tracking it. Because calories add up fast even when you're cooking it at home.
>>155912Hug your parents anon. Mine fed me nothing but garbage growing up soley because it didn't affect my slender brothers.

Im 5'5" and about 120lb and I want to lose about 10-15lb. Technically im at an alright weight but I want to look like a waif because of Aesthetic. I exercise and eat healthy majority of the time (between 1200-1500 calories) but every now and then I get depressive mood swings and eat whatever I can get my hands on. This is what usually fucks me up and why I've been stuck at 120 for months. I'm annoyed and I wish I had adderall.
Thanks for reading my blog.
