We share the same ideas, nonnie, yesterday I thought of creating a thread like this, kek.
To stay on topic, does anyone have any favorite holidays? Or why not?
I love Valentine's, Christmas, Halloween and thanksgiving's, they're really nice because I get to share some time with my family and/or friends and we wear nice clothes or funny accessories/costumes.

>>1373123I loooove Christmas time. My parents aren't into celebrating anything. Not the holidays, not anniversaries, not even birthdays. We used to celebrate Chinese new year but a few years ago, that stopped too. I spent a lot of time with extended family during my childhood and my aunts used to throw Thanksgiving and Christmas parties every year and I remember helping out to decorate the tree so it's something I remember fondly.
When I met my best friend, she was super into celebrating things and that infectious holiday spirit really made me rediscover my love for it too. She's very adamant about not spoiling the surprise but last year I had to ruin the surprise because she bought herself her own present (I'm in a better financial situation so I splurged on it knowing she most likely wouldn't get it… turns out she wanted to treat herself kek). I still don't have a tree to decorate and my family still doesn't exchange presents, but every year for Christmas I bring it upon myself to buy a cake for us to have to eat. It's the smallest semblence of a family celebration but it's something and I love deliberating what kind of cake to get.
I don't exchange presents with family either, but my friends and I always buy each other presents. I love shopping for my best friend too. I didn't really understand how it was better to give than to receive until I started shopping for her- I come across so many things that would be absolutely perfect for her and I get so excited to give them to her and get to antsy having to keep it a secret haha. One day when we move out together I know we're gonna get ourselves a Christmas tree and I'm so excited for that day. I can't wait to decorate our apartment in Christmas stuff.

>>1373123I get violently sick every holiday and it's been that way for as long as I can remember. I like the aesthetics of them, but I dread everything around it. I hate being asked what I did for xyz day and I just don't have an answer. You need a family for these things. Especially mother's day is the worst day on the planet to me.
Halloween is probably the only holiday not related to family, which is why I like it.

Im ready for krismos. It’s cold and rainy as fuck and I just want to get hit with the snow already and seeing all the decorations. The only thing I’ll hate is driving in the snow, my car is not built for it whatsoever haha

Ah nonnies, with this inflation I am at a loss on what to even gift to the family. What are you going to gift?
I know what I will gift to my partner's mother, but I am not sure what I could gift to others.
What would you gift to a person who pretty much has -everything- or you don't know well, other than a beautiful candle set?
I need to spend so much energy and time on getting gifts for others, making me wish others put the same effort into that too, but it's thought that counts…

>>1379873My family isn't doing any holiday gift giving because of the inflation this year. Maybe you need to be honest and limit your gift giving to the people closest to you. With the current inflation in my opinion the expectation to get something for someone you don't know well has become ridiculous.
But if you insist on giving a gift to everyone, you could bake everyone personalized cookies or sweets or chocolate or something, if you make a whole batch you can keep the cost down while giving something that'll definitely be enjoyed.

>>1379873You can make little gift sets for people. A mug, homemade cookies and coffee/tea/hot chocolate packets won't cost much and it's a cute, easy gift to put together, plus you can personalize them. I don't know how crafty you are, but youtube has a bunch of DIY gift ideas and tutorials if you need some inspiration.
And don't worry about getting gifts for someone who has everything. They're the easiest people to buy for- you either give them something that can be used up and won't sit on a shelf gathering dust, like candles or food, or something small and useful, like gloves and a hat.
And look up gift wrapping ideas. Presentation makes a huge difference.
