I bought Avon's Only Imagine the other day as it's supposed to be pretty close to DKNY's Be Delicious and whilst the initial spray is very overpowering it eventually fades to a musky, fruity scent.

I've not tried it yet.
The main notes are patchouli, orchid and tea which sounds pretty nice, but I might go give it a sniff at The Perfume Shop on my way back from uni tomorrow.

Does anybody know of any other heavy/musky/fruity scents?
I like to wear a lot of men's cologne, like Burberry London, as I find a lot of women's perfumes to be too floral.

Dior's poison range is a breath of fresh air in this respect tbh.

No. 134756

I've only bought some small sets for Anna Sui and the Tokyomilk Dark series, and when I made a Sephora order I received Commodity's Moss as a sample. I also have samples of Hermes eau des merveilles, which I really like but it's just really expensive.

I don't really wear them that often though. Plus with the Anna Sui scents I'm not sure how to apply them because the bottles don't have spray or rollerball tops. Am I just supposed to get a few drops out and rub them on my wrists?

I have bought so many perfumes over the years, and the ones I have gotten the most compliments on are Juicy Couture's Viva la Juicy, Ralph Laurens Romance and Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream. People have liked my other scents too, but when wearing these 3 specific scents random people come up to me to compliment how I smell or to ask which perfume i'm wearing.

If the money could not be spent on better things within a realistic timeframe then it's not a waste.

Perfumes make me feel more sexy and powerful as a figure and a good perfume attracts higher levels of status in your direction which in turn can lead to favourable exchanges.

I think that's a pretty good trade off, and you don't always have to buy the stuff full price. I find a scent I like in a store and then buy it online.

Coach Poppy is pretty sweet-smelling. My friend bought Ariana's perfume and she also likes La Vie Est Belle by Lancome and Viva La Juicy Noir. That makes sense, though floral tends to make me think "old" (I guess 60s+). I like fruity the most, but not sugar+fruit, just fruity, mainly because I think musky is too romantic or womanly for me or something. I like the way a lot of it smells, I just don't think it describes me.

I'm having a hard time finding one I like because no animal testing or ingredients. There's two I tried from this girl who makes them (La Bella Pink) that I kinda like, even though they're a bit sugary, but that's about it. I wear Black Opium more than my usual go-to ones these days, everyone comments on how lovely it smells too, especially the lads.

I really do encourage you to try Anais Anais out of the other three I mentioned… it's really floaty and flowery and mmmmmmm, it will last all throughout the day too.

The original Lolita Lempicka is sweet and has liquorice notes, but you don't want more than a few squirts on because it can be overpowering, but it really does stand out nicely amongst all the other sweet, candy scented shite that mostly dominates the market these days.

And of course, Beyonce's Heat Rush smells great, like tangerines… but unfortunately - it doesn't last on you for more than a couple of hours, It'd last long enough for a lunch date though.

I think the best advice I can give anyone here is to visit a huge department store and test out everything in there.

I also suggest to stay away from any that are advertised at the front of the store, (for example: Vicktor Rolf (Those grenade shaped bottles), Alien, Jimmy Choo, Burberry, Bench, DKNY) as you will find everyone and their mother's dog will wear them and they're nothing really special… you might as well be buying a cheapo Celebrity endorsed perfume if you're gonna pick one of those.

You'll be able to find some real treasures if you take your time to look around in there, and don't be afraid to ask the assistants for help if you want to describe your dream perfume to them, they know their shit.

V&R that you're referring to is Flowerbomb. I loved it but it was by far the most expensive option. La Vie Est Belle (Lancome) is known to be a dupe.

Mugler confuses the living shit out of me. i picked up Chopard's Wish with people raving about it and IT'S HORRIFYING AND NASTY and repelled me from considering cheap perfumes. the moment it hit my skin it turned sour. Supposedly it's a dupe for Mugler's Angel which I am not really digging. for non-conventional non-fruity/sweets, non-powdery recommendations, I would try Armani's Acqua di gioia EDP which reminds me of a relaxed oceanic setting but my friend feels is a little too clean and crisp. Then if you like the feel of a gourmand I think Armani's Si is pretty good too. Guerlain makes amazing scents - a highly underrated parfumeur, at least where I live. In general I wouldn't go for scents by fashion labels like Armani. It's just the more expensive version of Popstar-Parfumes like whatever by Lady Gaga. Not saying everything by Armani smells bad by default but everyone uses it. And a lot of these scents just smell the same… I swear if I smell delicious by DKNY or One by Calvin Klein on the streets one more time I'm going to snap. Lust from LUSH is my favorite scent of all time, it stays on my skin and in my hair FOREVER and the scent gets better as the day goes by which is so weird

I still have my Taylor Swift Wonderstruck from high school…it still smells good, I don't think I really liked the smell to begin with, but it has such particular memories attached to it…same with Juicy Couture, I can't stand the smell anymore but it is SO junior prom to me

Second the Nectarine Blossom. I have it and it's lovely. Staying power is terrible for the price though, I believe another anon also said that further up. They're really only eau de toilettes after all. I find that the honey comes out later and is a little strong, but certainly not unpleasant. Unless you dislike honey I suppose.

I really love Chloe's Roses de Chloe, even though it's only an eau de toilette. It's probably the only rose-based fragrance I can see myself thoroughly enjoying. All others I've found too sharp and cloying for my tastes, but then again, I'm not really a fan of roses. They're pretty though.

This reminds me: Cocoa Pink makes a dupe for Jo Malone's Nectarine Blossom and Honey, you could purchase a sample (certainly cheaper than Jo Malone) and if you like it purchase a full size bottle or lotion. Try Jo Malone at Nordstroms and get a sample if possible first, if you're interested try with Cocoa Pink before getting the Jo Malone. It's only a cologne so yes unfortunately the staying power isn't the best and sadly they don't make rollerballs for touch ups.

Again directed at: >>134908
If you find most Rose perfumes too cloying try L'occitane's Rose et Raines. Its a clean, fresh Rose with an almost watery quality to it, definitely not sweet. If you have purchased Jo Malone you've probably smelled their Rose perfume, which I find too sweet and musky. If you disliked that definitely try Rose et Raines, they sell it in a small rollerball too which is cheaper.

The bottle looks similar to the body lotion, so I guess it's similar. I will def try this since I love the body lotion scent.

Thanks for the reply, anon!

Been obsessing over this fragrance for a few years but always put off purchasing it because I don't know if it'll smell as nice to other people as it does to me. Smells like comfort and nostalgia.

any thoughts on this one anons?

This is my favorite ever. It smells like fruits and candies lasts all day and comes in this super cute bottle. It's the best! Juicy isn't that high end or expensive, but stuff like this makes me feel youthful and happy.

I got Euphoria from calvin klein and I really like it. It reminds me of opium from YSL but less heavy.
I don't wear it every day but when I do it gives me a confidence boost.
