asking fucking here because i well and truly dont know where to get an honest opinion anymore…

i recently found out that a former colleague wants to become transsexual and i couldn't help but feel weirded out. I'd never show it in a conversation because i don't want to ruin anyone's day on principle and i'd rather not look like a fossil among my generation since i'm quite young but i nonetheless can't shake being uncomfortable off.

i also internally felt insulted when, at a friend's birthday, another friend was trying to guess the name of someone i liked for a laugh and mentioned a name of the same sex. once again i didn't show my knee jerk reaction because i dont want to look like i grew up in a field but i still feel annoyed about it 8 months later.

i may well have to meet with the person from the 1st paragraph in a few weeks and intend to be respectful and not address the obvious because i'm not out to ruin anyone's day or my image for that matter

other than the aforementioned cases i treat gay people i know in exactly the same way as i treat at straight people, how do i make sure i don't look like a relic?(USER HAS BEEN PUT OUT TO PASTURE)
