>>120925I love Bigbang but YG is seriously scummy.
I didn't really like 2NE1's music that much but I liked them and what YG did to them is really shitty. All YG cares about is Bigbang, he know's thats where the money is

>>120925He cares a lot about iKON's foreign promotions. They've been stuck in for Japan for the 87 years and it's probably gonna stay like that.
The only shitty thing he did was disband them. Could've at least milked them for the money with some shitty ballad come back, a goodbye concert and a special album. Everything else that happened to them was Bom's fault.

I love the shit out of BigBang but I think their era is over because TOP has to go to the military sooner or later. After they all go through military they'll all likely carry on with solo careers or something or do an occasional collaboration with one another.
MADE is ok I guess. I like Bang Bang Bang and a couple of the other songs but that's it. This song is probably overhyped but my favorite BigBang song will always be Fantastic Baby.
Any one here and EXO fan besides me? I haven't enjoyed them as much as their song Monster(Lotto was ok too I guess) and I'm not a fan of the subgroup(???) thing they have going, EXO-CBX.

I find it hard to really care about kpop these days, it moves so quickly and I can't be bothered keeping up.
I miss TVXQ though…

I used to be a big fan of Winner but gave up after a year of zero promotions and YG treating them like they don't exist and honestly he is an absolute douchebag and can fuck off into his shitty "muh real artists" circlejerk. The whole taehyun issue was suspect as hell and it was very obvious Taehyun himself was probably forced to leave. He killed most of his groups by being a shithead and refusing to promote them. Bigbang will fuck off to the army and ijon has barely any korean promotions and no stable fanbase. Blackpink is his only hope and he's wasting it, so fuck him tbh.
>>121192Honestly, i'm an ARMY and i love BTS and the boys themselves to death, but on twitter i only follow fansites and stay away from interacting with most ARMY because they are very insufferable (which is probably fault of the fanbase consisting of a lot of very young people). However i've been a kpop fan since 2009 and i remember back when EXO debuted, the then called Exotics (lmao) were super shitty and even worse than ARMY now and always said that exo killed super junior or whatever, but it seems that it slowly calmed down a little and most of the shit fans went to bts with their edgy twitters and overglorification of the group and putting down others, so i think as soon as a new "it" group debuts, these annoying ass fans will move out again.

>>121222didn't YG try really hard to get BigBang out of enlisting? Who does he think he is? I bet he's really panicking now.
In all honesty I can't stand Blackpinks music and I think their group name is terrible. Their music is in no way original and you can just see that they are manufactured down to a tee.

>>121222I think that blackpink's music is very forgetabble and trying too hard to be the new 2NE1, but they are building a pretty strong fanabase, which is most important. Though it will slowly crumble if YG doesn't get his head out of his ass anytime soon and leaves them without promo and no fan interaction.
He ruined AKMU which were incredibly promising, Lee Hi is basically dead, he barely promoted mino/bobby solos, CLs international advancevent is a fucking joke… and as i said up there, he killed his idol groups so yeah, i can't wait to see him fall already so he realizes how many opportunities he has wasted.
So glad the whole DEAN going to YG was just rumours lmao
>>121247ehhh, maybe it was louder for me since i was within the suju fandom and that's where they struck most?
I do remeber them being as annoying on comment sections of non related videos ("omg was i the only one that when the chips appeared kept hinking of EXO lay XD" kinda garbage), making edits of other idols being dead/murdered, edits of exo burying groups, overglorification, making mass projets for black oceans or hurting certain fandoms (mostly SJ/BAP iirc) etc, so i would say they were at the same level, only difference it's that kpop is more global now so it's like it has a big megaphone on the crazies.

>>172685admittedly wasn't a huge fan and got even more annoyed when i watched everyone bandwagon into liking the group because of the car accident
that being said the two minis they've released after the fact have been great so i cant even hate the bandwagoners anymore

>>172687yeah i was pretty annoyed about those people too…i would rather them be successful because they have good music, not because everyone feels bad about what happened.
but yeah i agree, i usually don't even like ballads but the ballads that have been on their minis were pretty good too.

I'm really nervous about my favorite group's next era/comeback, largely because a member has a high chance of leaving and they set a high caliber for themselves in the last few comebacks. Plus I don't want them to flop…
>>172687>their new EP isn't on Spotify yetWhat the fuck, Polaris? It's annoying because Polaris/Blockberry's pre-debut girl group's singles get uploaded within days of release.

Anyone else want to bitch about CL's solo songs? I love her, but Lifted was just so bad, I honestly can't believe Method Man actually supported it.
>>121311I'm so mad about Lee Hi. I've been following her music since Rose and she had so much potential, but there's no promotion/recognition for her. I didn't even realize Seoulite was released until a while after.

I never really gave k-pop a thought, and reading this thread was cool. I have a few questions I hope you guys could answer! I checked out some of the groups mentioned in this thread (thought lisa(?) in blackpink was white lol) Anyway, I saw it mentioned that the business is scummy? Are there any good documentaries on the subject?
From what I can tell that the structure of the groups are fashioned to pander to a younger audience? ( even though I did stumble upon an article about older fans taking over bc jobs = ticket money) , are there any groups or artists that pander to an older crowd? I mean I might be attributing younger age audience bc of the modesty most of these artists display, but that's probably a culture thing? I'm sorry this is so all over the place, It's late and my poor old body is betraying me.

>>183155Any entertainment industry is gonna be scummy, kpop is good at keeping scandals on the down low though so you aren't going to find docos that go really deep into it, there's no tell all reveals or anything.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skJqO1cybVI is the best that I can think of. But keep in mind the fans are nuts and blame the companies for absolutely everything, even when it's not reasonable or logical. Eg they'll complain if an idol is getting a lot of work and call them overworked slaves, but they'll complain when they don't get much work because that means the company doesn't care about them and is mistreating them.
And yes, kpop is aimed at kids/teens but the fans tend to age with the groups so the older ones have adult fans (especially if they're Japanese fans).
No. 183184
>>183182I agree, I don't think there's really a group that panders to an older crowd but lots of fans that follow groups from debut, mature with the group itself so they end up having a lot of adult fans. Obv that doesn't go for ALL the fans but y'know.
Also, does anyone else like NCT? I don't really keep up with who's in what unit but I've had both firetruck and limitless on repeat for 4 days now lol I don't really stan but they have good title tracks(minus whatever chewing gum was) imo
No. 183314
>>183184I think senior groups like 2PM with older members have an older fan base and do more mature concepts. The more sexual a group concept is, the more likely it was aimed at an older audience.
Kpop groups can be targeted towards younger people but being a kpop fan in Korea almost requires you to spend a lot of money on tickets/merch/fanclubs/fansigns/birthday support, so in general I think most kpop fans are 17+, old enough to have spare income.
