The problem with setting the minimum age to 18 is that the vast majority of annoying underaged posters you don't like will never admit they're under 18. Not much would change. I've previously felt strongly against opening new boards, because from my experience, excessive board options dilute chans that are off-shoots from 4chan, and lower the overall activity by splitting the userbase too much. This site is starting to get big enough that it's entering medium-ish-sized chan territory though, so it may not be harmful to add 1-2 new boards.
My other problem is that I don't want to invest that much time and energy to moderating posts for content quality and board fitness. Ideally, I would want a "community manager" for /pt/ and another one for the hypothetical new board, who can both come up with and enforce posting guidelines. But unfortunately, at this time, I don't yet know anyone qualified for that whom I trust enough to perform either role without potentially abusing their power.
