Having your life not all involved with ego. Try having a skill or something you can be proud at that doesn't involve being beautiful or feeding your ego.

No wonder women feel so bitter after 40 or so. Basically they are taught their value is embedded in their beauty.

I know eating right and exercising are important to aging gracefully, but what about stress management? I'm only 21 and I already have fine lines around my eyes from studying so much.

I suppose it'll all be worth it when I'm making six figures, but I still have 6+ years of school before then. Trading looks for credentials works, right…?

She's basically the definition of "fake nerd girl icon". Anything she's ever done has pushed this very hard, video related. She's, of course, flipped on this the second anyone actually ends up liking her as a sex icon. It's "sexist" and "creepy" when people find her sexy or like her.

She said some fucking cringy thing, like Gamergaters scare her and made it all about her despite the fact it was about the cow Zoe Quinn. She said they're going to kill her and as a "woman in gaming" she was fearing for her life. She mentioned she saw some gamers across the street and decided to not cross just because of them. I don't think any actual female gamer would be afraid of some random scrawny nerd in a Zelda shirt across the street.

I remind myself that getting older is not a privilege everyone gets. My sister's kid died at 1, my best friend's brother died at 14, one of my classmates died at 19. I had a friend die at 33, my dad died aged 52. Etc etc

Dear God he's turning into Layne Staley! That's bad.

Anyway, my family is long lived and tends to be slow aging. So I have genetics on my side. My uncle Joe was in his 90s. my paternal grandfather was 100 and my paternal grandmother must be in her 90s now. So I'm probably looking at a pretty long lifespan. So I better get used to looking old for a few decades.

What I am looking forward to is technology advancing. Try to think of things in this perspective. There are going to be a lot of cool new inventions in the future. We'll learn more about space. Maybe even set up a colony. Instead of thinking of yourself as aging think of the world advancing around you and you getting to live long enough to see all these great things. Also think of your family. Getting so see children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews grow up. Thinks like that.

Remember to protect your skin. Don't bake yourself into a leather bag for some stupid tanning trend. Take care of your hair and your nutrition needs. Don't put off getting health issues checked out.

meh, i don't like Felicia Day either but i don't think she's wrong there. those guys harassed so many people. i remember this youtuber with less than 100,000 subs made a random comment defending Zoe on twitter and i still see him getting shit about it to this day. people are obsessed with it. they dox many people and send them bullshit every single day on social media, so i don't doubt they were being dicks to her. and if you're not used to that kind of treatment seeing that you're getting doxxed and that everyone is sending you "kill urself" everyday could make you feel scared. so, i'd say she was being legit about gamergaters being assholes to her and that in her mind it was entirely because she was a woman (altough it probably wasn't).

Actually, life does go by faster as you get older.
You've experienced more things and have more memories that are similar or connected. Because of this, your brain remembers less things, essentially.

When you were younger you were constantly learning new things and experiencing everything. Now you're mostly just living.

It's because the media is fixated on admiring young girls. They push the idea that a woman peaks at 16 and after 25 she's worthless. And god help her if she's had kids, she's practically worthless trash at that point. It's disgusting and you see it on this board all the time, teenage girls panicking about getting "too old" (turning 21) and losing all their youthfulness and charm. While men are admired well into their 60's. It's fucking sick. Women in their early 30's are considered "mature" while men in their early 30's are still considered young and fresh.

I think I fear what comes after death. I fear total non-existence, life is so short but death/not existing is eternal. I know some say it's like before you were born but that doesn't help. I wasn't aware of existence until now, so it's not the same.

Right now I'm struggling to do that. Sometimes I don't see any point in living, being happy when I will die anyway and lose everything. My husband kinda believes in a afterlife(struggles with doubts sometimes) but tells me if there really isn't anything, I then should make the most of my life. I think what doesn't help is that I'm almost 30, time feels faster and then I will be 60. Then I will be dead…

I'm trying to have hope in life extension but worry about it not being fully effective in my lifetime.

No. 174117

Anon, you seem to have major anxity about death. You should seek out help, you don't want to be old and regret not living your life. Living in fear and panic is not a way to live. You also need to find out what triggered this. Are you unhappy with your life? I know old people who do not fear death becuase they feel they lived a satisfying life. Maybe your life isn't going where you want it.

I'm agnostic, I can't prove nor deny god or any intelligent creator's exstince. I feel we are too perfect, the set up of earth to sustain us too perfect to just be random chance. I hope there is more to life than living for a short time than dying.

No. 174240

I used to really care, until I turned 25 and realized that it doesn't really matter. It will be frustrating having to deal with wrinkles and depreciating health, but overall we all have to deal with this shit unless we die first.

No. 174244

Im also super scared of dying, a mixture of fear of failure (dying before living out my dreams) or not knowing what comes after, because I really have no clue. I know some people who have had near-death experiences, and they say about seeing white, feeling calm, no pain etc. but what happens after? Thinking about it terrifies me, and it gives me panic attacks too. I watch alot of docus about reincarnation and they calm me down a bit, but I know alot of those theories can be easily debunked.

To stay a little more ot: I honestly think i would be a cougar if i live past 50, older men gross me out and the thought that my boyfriend (im single currrently, and i also think women can hold their looks better as they age) will turn into that one day freaks me out. I don't get it either. Women in their 30s are pretty much at peak growth. That's when they look best! They also have so much more choice when it comes to the styles that they can pull off. I'm personally looking forward to not feeling like a retard when wearing high heels, blazers, heavy makeup or pencil skirts. I agree about once you get up to the 40s though lol. But men age just as badly. I've never understood guys who lie to themselves about it. Once men get into their 40s, they start balding, and getting a gut, and getting wrinkly and red and doughy and just allover unfuckable. I know a guy who started balding in his late 20s. Just be glad that you don't have to deal with that!

Some of yall are way too paranoid about aging. Don't you have any cute aunts or grandmas? Older ladies who smile a lot just have this look about them that's pleasant. Like, obviously your skin isn't going to be quite as good as it was in your 20s, but as long as you style yourself well you're not gonna look ugly in your 30s.
40s to 50s no promises though. lol

But then, that's just the transitional phase where you look weird because you gotta grow out your wrinkles before you can assume your final form as a sage pillar of wisdom, like Maggie Smith.
