I'm not actively in the fandom anymore, but we didn't imagine humans fucking the robots, we imagined the robots fucking each others more than anything else. And we did the vanilla plug-n-play where it was very…technical, basically it was…transferring files, but getting off on it. This is a little awkward to explain.

I saw Megaman X fanart like that one time.

For transformers I guess the big three ways of robosex is like the before mentioned plug and play along with
>Sticky
Robots with all three parts, despite them only having confirmed assholes in like, two continuities
>Sparkplay
Literally merging their souls together by jamming their sparks together or something? I find this one pretty cute despite that.

I guess it makes sense that this franchise winds up with so many different kinds of 'how do the robots fuck' stuff though, along with James obsession with robots giving birth in fucked up ways.

I was always a comic fan since Dreamwave. Later especially into Chaos Theory of IDW, MtmtE, Prowls story and TAAO.
At first I was mainly a fan of Megatron and he is still my favorite in most cartoons, but after re-reading the comics I ascended an got more into older Primes like Sentinel, Zeta and such, pre-war villains and some randos only one or two other people care about.

Still a huge fan and I have a lot of fun drawing them.

sorry for necro - but not really, was wondering if there were any robo-loving nonnies still around on this board? i recently caught up to the franchise again, watched tf:one and it got me wanting to check out more and i've now read all of idw and i want to check out cyberverse as well. heard earthspark was gay as hell. also enjoying the new comics from skybound. and i have a lot i want to say on the fandom itself.

Hello fellow robot-enjoyer anon, I've been on a bit of a tf kick lately too and would love to hear your thoughts (on any continuity or the fandom kek). This franchise is always fun to come back to, and for all it's faults it's probably one of the more fun fandoms I've been in. Who're your favourite bots? Love your picrel btw

i have so many thoughts lol, i'll keep it contained and just try to answer your questions for now (also let me know your own thoughts!)
so i dropped out a few years ago around the time Prime was still airing. i thought the premise of Prime started interesting, but the need to maintain status quo like most western cartoons got me bored and eventually i just dropped the whole fandom. got back into it recently because of TFOne which i thought was gonna be a trainwreck, but was actually super cool! i really liked it! its a basic story, but i loved the visuals, i loved how down to earth it kept itself, and the voice acting was really good despite it being mostly celebrities (will never warm up to scarjo tho). decided that i wanted to dip my toes back in the fandom and within 3 weeks id read all of the 2005 idw run, phase 1 2 and 3 (holy fuck the crossovers were ASS) with some mixed feelings, but overall liking it. also decided to start reading the skybound comics and checked out bumblebee 2016 and rise of the beasts. so ive roughly seen: maybe half of G1?, beast wars, all of animated, s1 of prime, the first 3 bayformer films, tfone, bumblebee 2016, rotb, read idw and am reading skybound as it releases. gonna watch the rest of the bayverse films and the 2019 idw run, and was considering watching cyberverse. earthspark seemed to have a promising s1, but then i heard it exploded in retardation and retcons. no interest in the animes or the older comics tbh.
since im a basic bitch, starscream is my favorite character. but my tastes also change between continuities, so there are characters i really like in one universe but dont care in others. however, overall, id say these are my favorite characters (in no order): jazz, megatron, rodimus, prowl, tarn, rung, skywarp, thundercracker, optimus, perceptor, blurr, sunstreaker, sideswipe, knock out, wheeljack, drift, pharma, whirl and there's probably more.

Kek, could be worse. For me it's still G1 Shockwave and Soundwave.
I quite liked the old TFUK and Marvel Comics runs from the wayback but have never been able to really get into any of the newer stuff.
It's still nice to sip my beak from time to time and still hearing Peter Cullen as Optimus gets me all weepy eyed if nobody's looking.

ive never been able to get super into either of the 'waves, but i admit thats a personal failing and not cuz theyre bad or anything like that. actually id love to hear more about why you like them! i dont dislike them but theyre firmly in the "i have no strong feelings towards them" tier for me.
i havent touched the marvel comics cuz i heard theres a ton of crossovering with other ips and i dont care about humans at all. i only want robots.
man, i wish theyd let peter cullen voice act an actual gentle optimus again before… he gets too worn out to voice optimus anymore… hes the dad for all transformers fans. the dad we didnt have.

>id love to hear more about why you like them!
If I'm being entirely honest, I think a lot of it just comes down to the fact that I thought they looked really cool. I liked my robots to be robotic.
They both had their own agendas in the comics but I kind of liked that, in the old cartoon, they were both depicted as mostly just loyal soldiers of Megatron. A lot of the Decepticons were pretty much just depicted as standard self-serving assholes in the original series and I found them kind of interesting, not necessarily 'evil' but loyal soldiers on the other side of the war. I've always had a bit of a fascination with characters like that.
>i havent touched the marvel comics cuz i heard theres a ton of crossovering with other ips
It's been a long time but, if I am remembering correctly, TFUK (Marvel) had a brief crossover with GI Joe that lasted a few issues and the only crossover I can remember the US Marvel Transformers having was with SpiderMan for a single issue. Shit, it's been a long time but I remember that as both series progressed the focus shifted more and more to the Transformers and less to the human (presumed POV) characters.
Still, art and presentation has changed a lot over the years and it's hardly a condemnation of your character if you just don't like the old 80's 90's comic book style, some of the new designs are pretty cool but I'm old and am used to characters looking a certain way.
> i wish theyd let peter cullen voice act an actual gentle optimus again
I'd love that, probably because I watched the cartoons as a kid I've always thought of Optimus as a superhero. Cullen does great work and really commits to the tragic soldier side of Prime but I'd love to see some straight up Superman style cheese. Give me more scenes of Autobots mourning the random-ass deer caught in the crossfire.

ayrt and I'm glad to hear you had a good time with tfone and that it got you back into the franchise– I think that's a really neat thing about media like this, you can come and go from it and find something to like after falling out of love with another part. I thought tfone was fun too, especially liked the visual direction of the environments and Quintessons, and it was a pretty charming film in general.

>holy fuck the crossovers were ASS

Yeah I had loads of fun reading idw back in the day, but man I hated whenever there was a crossover or other derailing event issue kek– why must western/American comics pull this shit? Probably isn't so bad to read through now, but was disruptive af when the comic was still coming out. Agree on the mixed feelings though– the 2005 idw run certainly has its highs and lows, though it definitely has some of my favourite content for certain characters and was generally a lot of fun… if a little retarded in places lmao.

I still need to catch up on the non-Bay live action films lol, and I will argue that TFP finds its feet in the second season somewhat (and then loses them once it needed to introduce stuff for new toys)… though I haven't rewatched it in years so it might not hold up. Cyberverse is something lol. I checked out a bit of Earthspark, and season 1 had a few neat ideas and some nice 3D and 2D animation in places, but yeah iirc the entire creative team changed between s1 and s2 and it went to shit. Was neat to see the 'autobot Megatron' concept escape the comics though– it's interesting to see what parts of the franchise end up influencing newer projects.

>since im a basic bitch, starscream is my favorite character

kek he's probably one of my favourites across most continuities too, he's one of the more dynamic core characters of the franchise, so usually gets up to more interesting shit than some of the other franchise regulars.

>your favourite character list

we are sisters anon, I like all of those too lol. Depending on continuities, I'll also add on the 'Waves and some of the ladies like Windblade and Arcee

>idw
still probably one of my fave iterations for transformers even if it was hit or miss and messy, like, i really loved the highs, really loved them. tfone was good, but short. looking back animated was actually pretty good. maybe i should finally finish prime… feels bad about earthspark because autobot megs and post-war content is so rare especially in the cartoons and it couldve been really interesting, but alas, it all got shot apart lol.
the non bayverse live actions are… okay. bumblebee 2016 is pretty decent, but rotb was hot garbage imho. very bad.
>ladies
i really want to like more female transformers but ive yet to find one i LOVE tho i did like chromia, mistress of flame, nautica and velocity in idw. had no real feelings on elita 1 in tfone cuz scarjo. blackarachnia is always goated tho.

Depends a little if you want something more serious or if you want something more cartoony/goofy. Personally, I think Transformers: Animated is still one of the best cartoons we ever got. Transformers:Prime has its ups and downs, but was successful for a reason. Transformers: One the film is short enough to rekindle a spark perhaps? The first 3 Bayverse films are just action slop if you're feeling up for just senseless action. Bumblebee 2016 was cute, nothing spectacular. And if you want to get into something very, very long term, try the entirety of the IDW Transformers run that lasted from 2005 to 2018 (it's a rollercoaster ride in terms of quality, but it has some very good highs). The new Skybound comics are currently at issue 18, and are more "true" to G1 but very grimdark (with some amazingly funny panels here and there).

I absolutely despise Simon Furman and his treatment of female transformers, particularly Arcee
In the Marvel comics, he gave Arcee an origin in which she was built from Optimus Primes "rib" to appease strawman "angry feminists"
In the IDW1 spotlight "Arcee", he gave "Arcee" an even more offensive origin in which "she" was originally a male transformer who was forcefully transitioned into a "female" transformer (how the fuck can sexless robots transition?)
So this "Arcee" isnt even actually Arcee this is some male transformer wearing her face and her pink paint job (ew gross)
And of course the TIM fans found this "transphobic" (because they find everything transphobic. even the things in favor of them) so later they hired some self proclaimed "lesbian" TIM who later retconned "Arcee"s origin and turned "her" into a TIM "lesbian" and added two more annoying TIM "lesbian" characters (this whole saga felt so offensive and lesbophobic as fuck to actual lesbians tbh. just nerd scrotes fetishizing lesbianism)

Sorry for the delay anon, but yeah I hope tfTWO happens! Would be interesting to see where they'd take it– my guess is diverting the 'bot vs 'con war in favour of cybertronians vs quintessons, or maybe end up in a similar position with the factions as that War for Cybertron show Rooster Teeth did (hopefully much better though kek). Honestly don't really care so long as they do fun things with the characters and world and don't rush straight to Earth/humans.

What were some of your favourite parts of IDW? Anything in particular you didn't like? I've been meaning to do a full re-read of the run myself (realised the other day that I could only strongly remember MTMTE and adjacent stuff lol)

Sad to hear the non-Bay LA films are on the meh side– I know Bayverse itself is trash, but I kinda love its retarded, high-budget crackfic-vibe nonsense all the same.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that I love any particular female transformers (although I somehow failed to mention Nickel last time, who is up there kek, and I also enjoyed the ones you listed) either, but I can confidently say that I like or enjoy quite a few of them (which is more than I can say for many other franchises/media) and that they're getting closer and closer to writing female transformers that I could adore. There must be something about the spider ladies though, because both Blackarachnia and Airachnid (tfp and tfone) are rad

Why do certain retards despise women in Transformers? We had an anon on this very board years ago who was unironically screeching that there should be no female Transformers and they should all be male and praised this story for "mocking" the idea of a female Transformer as if they're not alien robots. As a Beast Wars watcher when I was a kid and later learning the writing team had to fight tooth and nail to even be allowed to have female characters in the show (and they still made Airazor male in the Japanese dub) this shit is offensive.

>Why do certain retards despise women in Transformers?
I used to be one of those retards, still am to a certain degree, and can provide an unsatisfactory answer. For me at least it probably came down to a 50/50 split of resistance to change and good old-fashioned hatred of all things outwardly feminine. I was used to all the Transformers being male and to my thinking at the time 'sexless' so on a certain level I found the introduction of female transformers kind of jarring and also sort of personally insulting, like I was being very poorly pandered to. I suppose my opinion on them was probably not too far off from how some fans feel towards human characters, they were not really my interest and I resented their presence. Pretty neutral on female transformers these days, though I viscerally hated Arcee when I was a kid.
I won't dispute the position being called retarded, I think I mostly held on to it out of stubborn immaturity and it is the kind of thing that should be grown out of with time. Screaming into the void and demanding that the entire world complies with my personal preferences is rather a silly way to live.
>As a Beast Wars watcher when I was a kid and later learning the writing team had to fight tooth and nail to even be allowed to have female characters in the show
Funny enough, I was never bothered by the female robots in Beast Wars and kind of liked Blackarachnia. Best retroactive explanation I can pull out of my arse is that animal themed transforming robots having sexual dimorphism didn't feel like as much of a stretch.

Interesting. I was never bothered by there being female transformers (tbh I don't think that there was ever a period for me where they weren't a thing, so that might be part of it), I just didn't start to actually enjoy their presence until idk examples from the last 20 years? They were just kind of there, like a background element to the characters I did enjoy (which tbh was also the norm in my experience for a lot of female cartoon characters at the time, I mostly only found women in books that I actually liked as much as many male characters, but things have improved since). I do like that female transformer designs aren't as rigidly locked into looking like slim robotic women now, and that they aren't limited into being 'the girl' archetype much anymore. It's not perfect, but I'll take it (not a fan of the whole disaster with IDW Arcee obviously, and hope future media steers clear of repeating that mess kek)

it's not just female transformers that are being transwashed because female characters from other media are also being subjected to that.
that's why I hate reboots/new releases of old media because the female characters in it always get transwashed to appease troon scrotes instead of actual women meanwhile the male characters are left untouched to keep the cis scrotes happy too.
actual women are erased from the "representation" and "target audience" categories
