Volufiline nonna reporting back, I can't find my old post and I'm on mobile but around 3 months ago I started using it under my eyes and on my lips. I've gone through some 1/3rd of my 72 ml bottle, so this thing will last me ages. My hollow dark undereyes are still dark and sort of hollow but I've gained some slight eyebags? Lea Seydoux style, but obviously smaller. I like it and I think sleepy is a cuter look than day-old corpse. I haven't been consistent with using it on my lips but it definitely has a slight plumping effect.
>>454862I have very sensitive skin and I still went on Accutane, I know it's not exactly the same as tret, but it completely changed my skin. I was on the lowest possibile dose for a year and during the first three months I had pretty severe eczema, I eventually fixed it with snail mucin. I know a lot of people are allergic to it but it had a great calming effect for me.

For icepick scars you might look into something called TCA cross, where they apply the chemical peel solution to the scars alone, not your whole face. This would mean you’d have less downtime/ be less flaky if that’s what you’re worried about. I really do like a full face chemical peel, it does crazy things for your skin texture, just plan ahead before you get one done to make sure you’re staying out of the sun completely for the next week or so

Is there any way to reduce picrel? All of my pores on this part of my face are extremely dark and it really bothers me. None of them are blackheads, it’s just like my pores are overly sunken into my skin and cause shadows that make it look like I have a dirty face full of blackheads.
I’ve read that trying to mess with your pores makes them bigger so I don’t do anything to them, I just wash my face twice a day with gentle cleanser and apply facial lotion after, but they just get worse as I age. Really stupid question but whatever: how long does it take you to fully use your products, whether it's toner, micellar water, creams, masks, etc. I always try to finish what I have before buying the same product from the same brand or another brand but it can take me a months or even more than a year and I always wonder if the products aren't expired by the time I have a little bit left. I've had this Byoma face cream for long enough for me to forget when I started using it, I guess for more or less a whole year and I'm still not done using it, but some youtuber who was tracking her progress in her project pan said it took her 6 months to finish using it. I have oily skin so maybe that's not her case and she needs to apply it more than me but it made me question everything. I also have a 400ml micellar water bottle and it's almost empty more or less a year after I bought it despite using it once everyday but I don't use makeup so I have no clue if that's normal.

im aware spiro/birth control is the most evidence based, reliable way of controlling hormonal acne but i would rather exhaust every possible topical (non antibiotic) alternative before going that route. i was drinking spearmint tea and that didn't seem to help but i might give that a try for the third time since i was still packing in refined carbs during that period…

nonny I had the exact same experience. Here's the thing, when BHA works it works
slowly. When you have acne and are starting a treatment you probably have some active acne . . . and microscropic baby acne lurking under the surface. You can't see it with the naked eye but you can see it with a microscope. In my experience with BHA it doesn't do much for already active acne, it just needs to live out its lifespan but BHA does work
at preventing future acne. BHA is one of those actives that can cause purging because it's speeding up cell turnover meaning that baby acne gestating in your pores is forced to surface faster so it may seem like the BHA isn't working. It is though, that acne is being surfaced before it can get bigger and most importantly
new baby acne isn't being formed.
I thought the BHA wasn't working for me either, I also was using it every 3 days but here's the thing: when you do that, you extend how long it takes to surface all that acne. BHA is NOT that strong, the majority of skincare advice online is just posted by women with super delicate petal skin. So I decided to start applying the Paula's Choice BHA daily and then eventually, between months 1 and 2 I realized I wasn't getting acne anymore. Like you I was also expecting to not have nose blackheads, I was also expecting smaller pores and a reduction in pimple scars. The BHA doesn't work for that, not even tretinoin works for that. That BHA product however, did in fact work at preventing acne. Once I stopped getting acne (using that product) I was able to start incorporating other products to help reduce hyperpigmentation. Pores however, are eternal.

>>518286no, although I was REALLY excited when it first heard out but it seems like a lot of people who have it start breaking out after using it for over 3+ months which scares me.
3 week update on taz 0.1%: i believe i am starting to purge but i think it may be a good thing because my hormonal angry bumps on my neck are coming to a head which used to NEVER happen. i'm using it every 3rd night and am planning to bump it up to every other night once i hit the 1 month mark.
i have been using it on dry skin after cleansing and i'm adapting to it surprisingly well as someone who couldn't tolerate tret every night or even every other night for very long despite sandwiching it. i wonder if sandwiching tret was the problem although i did try plain tret once last month and i felt like it was pretty irritating.
fingers crossed that this is what i need to be done with this genetic curse once and for all!!!

>>518249hormonal acne generally starts in your late teens or 20s. it sucks and my experience is the same as yours although my acne went from mild (late teens) to moderate (mid 20s). when i was younger it was more in my chin but now it's my neck and cheeks too.
i think you should start experimenting with actives (one at a time) to see if they help. salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide barely helped me but they're OTC and help lots of people. if they don't work, getting prescription retinoids are probably your next step. tret 0.05% was enough to pretty much eradicate my acne when i was younger but it doesn't cut it now i'm older so i'm trying tazarotene now.
my biggest advice to you is if you figure out which acne is enough to clear your skin DONT STOP USING IT (only exception are antibiotics) because i did that in my early 20s with tret and now i'm 5 steps behind because i stopped for a couple of years. it's definitely my biggest regret and i wouldn't have as much scarring if i never got lazy and disregarded that i have a strong genetic deposition for acne.

The past 2 months my skin has been driving me crazy, it's so insanely itchy, especially the jaw line and area under my chin plus neck, that I feel like I'll go mad, I also can't stop scratching which of course makes it worse. I have bad hay fever that definitely contributes to it but I take medication for it plus those troubles already started in winter, so that can't be the only cause.
I had normal teen acne as a teen and after that pretty good skin for most of my 20s despite being too lazy for a regular routine. I was always interested in korean skin care and tried a lot but again I'm somehow always too lazy to stick to it. I also wanted to start retinol against aging but decided to wait until I have a set routine that suits me - it's been over 2 years since I bought but never opened the first bottle of retinol kek
Nothing really changed before this itching started. I know that always trying new stuff is bad for your skin but it's not like I ever really used anything longtime, it's more like I try it and then the next day go back to plain water. I also never tried any actives, I always only tried cleansers, toners, serums and moisturizers for sensitive/dry skin. But now my skin suddenly got so sensitive and dry (but not flaky), that I even itch like crazy when only washing with water and moisturizing with the famed La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume (which imo stinks).
Now I wash with water in the morning and use the Isntree Yam Root Milk cleanser at night, followed by the Etude Soonjung 2x barrier crean (I've used this on and off for ages). The redness has gotten somewhat better now and the itching has gotten slightly better too but I've also been getting lots of pimples, even on my forehead that was always completely clear, even as a teen. It feels like I have to sacrifice my texture and cleanness in order to not be insanely inflamed and dry. In general I always felt torn between "this cleanser is drying me out so much that I get fine lines" vs. "this moisturizer is causing me breakouts and people tell me I look greasy". This has been stressing me out so much, I totally forgot what it feels like to have bad skin and feel so insecure about it. I'm so jealous of people who can just use the roughest products, wiping their skin with toner pads full of alcohol, adding tons of the Ordinary acids after it…

I wash my face and then immediately moisturize it once in the morning and once at night. I put the face lotion basically everywhere except around my eyes. That can’t be the cause, right? It’s not like my skin there is so dry that it would wind up looking like this in my 20s? I don’t have a single wrinkle on my face, just this grandma skin above my eyes. > a face cleanser> a face lotion> a sunscreenYou can get all this at the drugstore. I buy all Vanicream skincare because it is cheap, they even have a face lotion with sunscreen if you're too short on cash to buy multiple products. For dry skin I buy a small cheap tin of Nivea. The flaking could be dry skin (in which case the Nivea should help), or it could be that you need exfoliation (in which case experiment with a cheap DIY face scrub), or it could possibly be face dandruff (in which case Vanicream sells a bar soap that helps with that). Introduce new products week by week in case your skin is reactive. Once you've got a basic routine down I would encourage you to try the Paula's Choice BHA for your blackheads, you will probably only need to use it 2-3 times a week because you don't have acne. A lot of skincare products, including the BHA, can be purchased in mini/travel sizes to try out before committing to a full size.
