Let's have a thread for currently-airing films, there doesn't seem to be one on the catalog apart from rec threads and favorite movie threads.

Saw Hail Caesar! the other day and really enjoyed it, I think it will be one of those films people appreciate more in time as well.

Coen brothers are great directors.

the art was gorgeous, esp. if you saw it in theatres, but the story really pissed me off.
Ghibli is well-known for its strong female leads, who don't sit around waiting to be 'rescued'. Yet that's exactly what Kaguya did throughout the entire movie. Even the dramatic break-out scene was staged.
In the end, she doesn't grow or solve any of her problems by herself, she just runs away. I love it as a pioneering leap into experimental animation, but the themes & plot left me completely underwhelmed.

Eh I didn't think it was that bad. She just felt stuck and I would have done the same. I get what you mean though, but I didn't feel it detracted from it a lot

It was really great. The whole movie I just felt weird and uncomfortable, but in a way where it was disturbing. The soundtrack was phenomenal. Lots of brutal as fuck scenes. Scary.

It's only in theaters right now, akaik.

>>80608
Glad you liked it too!

Not sure what you mean by that?

I love Zootopia to bits. It's one of animated that struck a chord in me because the conflicts and characterization are relatable, at least for me. Glad to see that it got positive reviews everywhere.

I'm pretty excited for animated movies this year. From the teasers and trailers that has been circling around the internet since last year, most of them look really good. Can't wait to see them!
